: Just what sort of moron do the dealers think we are?

I got a call yesterday saying that my driver's side armrest was in. Cool, I thought, a 10 minute quick install.

Called the person I was told to call who gave me the line that it wasn't her job. Then I spoke with the person whose job it was. That started a whole line about how they couldn't do it until June 21st!

When I asked to pick up the part myself I was told that it would void my warranty. The only thing they could do is have me go in for 8:00 AM on Saturday with the expectation that they would drop me off at my home and pick me up again when it was done. It was explained to me that they had never installed an armrest before on an "E" and that they might have to experiment.

I called Honda Canada to blow my gasket with them. I told them that I am furious that the dealer screwed up the original order, screwed up my registration and ownership, and was now treating me like a moron over the install of an armrest. As I said to them, it most certainly does not void my warranty. I also said to them I was incensed that they would tell me that they needed to experiment with my "E". As I explained to them, if I said to a client that I needed to mess with the production Point-of-Sale system in order to upgrade it, they would be as pissed as I was. As an IT professional, I am held to very high standards for professional services and I expect the dealers service department to act along the same lines.

End result was that Honda Canada called the dealer to tell them to get my registration in order and to release the part to me. Amazing how the song changed when Honda called them. Oh, the warranty would not be voided, and oh how they could bend over backwards to help.

Picked up the armrest. It took me as long to install it as it took to find the right hex wrench in my toolbox and print out the instructions. The armrest is in. It works like a charm. :D :D :D

What sort of a moron does the dealer take me for? I kept saying to them I had the instructions already and had spoken to my colleagues here to affirm that it was a 10 minute job.

Let's see if I get an apology or a followup call. Can't wait until they want to do the regularly scheduled service. No bloody way are they going to "experiment" on my Elsie.

Incidently, Honda Canada confirmed that the price on the website is the installed price. Don't let the dealers tell you otherwise.

Well.....at least you have your armrest

As I began to read your post I couldn't believe that they told you that your warrenty would be voided.....that would mean (if this were true) that Honda would basically be creating a monopoly.....but I am glad you spoke to Honada Canada and got that all taken care of!

If it makes you feel any better the Service Manager at my dealer told me that my windshield would have to be cut out when being replaced....which was an out and out lie. The Service Manager treated me like a stupid lil' girl....which is something I hate more than anything.....when people talk down to me just because I am a woman. When shopping for our E one salesman would only talk to my husband....and it was my car and I was the one who had done all of the research and knew all the facts.....needless to say we were out of that dealership toot sweet!

Your dealership seems to have enough morons on the staff. I'm still waiting for my dealer to get the grey fog light switch in so they can install my fog lights, but they've been pretty sharp otherwise. My E was actually early and when I mentioned that I was buying most of my accessories online, they agreed that they couldn't beat the price since they'd have to charge me tax.

Glad to hear you were able to get your armrest. Who knows what they've messed up.
