Bought a mountain bike yesterday and today Gidget and I hit the C&O Canal for a couple hours of riding/running from Old Angler Inn to Lock 21. Gorgeous day! Decided to trade in the scooter for pedals during warmer weather so Gidget could run without resistance. Am also taking the bike camping this summer. One destinateion, Douthat State Park in western Virginia, a fave, has 40 miles of mostly bike-friendly trails. Dog-friendly, too.

The bottom pic is the only traffic jam we saw today.

I hope everyone had a nice Easter!

What a super day you two had! Gidget is a lucky dog! Love the turtle pic, too. Do you have a cabin reserved at Douthat? Did it require a year in advance?

Nice pics! Always seems like Gidget (and you) are having some sort of fun adventure. :)

What kind of harness does Gidget wear for this activity?

Tessa - I have two Douthat reservations this year -- camping and cabin on different weekends.

Trina - she's my only child, so we pal around a lot. For scootering and the bike she's wearing a "urban trails harness" from www.alpineoutfitters.net (http://www.alpineoutfitters.net) (located north of Seattle) Also got the shock-corded gangline from there.

The harnesses are custom-made for $27, a real deal - replete with name stitched on the harness.

She ran for two hours this morning, maintaining a brisk sledding pace - it's a sight to behold.

Wow, their prices certainly look more than fair, for what I know about webbing costs, etc. Great resource for you active folks! Remind me not to let our dogs see Gidget's pictures ... they'll be jealous. :)
