Had my 10,000 service last week, but on a long trip the next day I noticed the service warning light on. I called the dealer en route, and the service guy explained that they just forgot to reset the light. He told me how to do it, but I can't get it to take yet.
Anybody know what I'm doing wrong. He said to push in the odometer button while turning the key on, but not so far as to start. He said the light would flash. It does. I thought he said to then go ahead and start the car, but starting it, turning it back off, or even standing on my head fails to have any effect.
I must not be holding my nose right.
Somebody enlighten me, or I'll just hollar back at 'em.
Thanks

They didn't tell you about the dead chicken? It is necessary to resetting the light.
After you dance around the deceased fowl - clockwise, three times - while singing the chorus to Hanson's MmmBop, you hold down on the Select button to the right of the odometer while turning the key to position II, just short of starting the car. Hold it there for 10 seconds. The light should go out.

Funny you should mention this - I had the same thing happen last week. We got to Naples Florida, and the maintenence required light starts flashing when we turn the car on. I had never seen this light before, and it had just been into the dealer for service 3 days before. We didn't have the manual with us, and it was Saturday evening. I spent most of Sunday (Easter) trying to find an auto parts place open, so I could top up all the fluids. I went over every possible connection etc, under the hood trying to figure it out. By the time we got to Vero Beach that night, the light was on, and staying on. I almost had an anxiety attack that night, thinking that I would have to drive back to Canada, with the light on, and I didn't know why it was on. Everything I had checked was ok, and the vehicle was running great....
We were in North Carolina before it dawned on me that they hadn't reset the light when they did the oil change, and the vehicle was doing exactly what it should be!!! It was just letting me know that I should change the oil. It didn't know that it had just been done.....
I'll have a chat with the service manager when I take it in tomorrow....

Don't you all know: real men don't use search functions or owner's manuals! And we NEVER stop to ask directions.
Thanks for the help. I actually figured this was inside information that would not be in an owner's manual. Figured our "big brother" gov wouldn't allow auto manufacturers to tell us how to turn off a service light, for fear we'd just turn it off and ignore the service.

I hate to tell you this, but the government has better things to do than worry if you do your scheduled maintenance on your E.

I crossed 10k yesterday, the light came/stayed on. I'm at the dealer now getting the service done, also they are looking at my cladding over the rear side windows, it is showing signs of bubbling.:?
