Still the insurance companies are paying some $$ for these widshields. Even though most of the time I'd never defend insurance companies, I don't think they should pay either. My point is that the insurance companies may have more sway with Honda than just us owners.

Enjoy your new view.

While the cracks in the windshield may be inherent to the Element and covered by the warranty, the insurance companies in Florida have no choice but to pay for replacements. If your windshield is cracked you are entitled(there are times I hate that word) to a replacement at a cost to your insurance company. They feel better having to pay for a windshield than what may happen if it's not replaced, I guess

Actually I hit the wrong button and started a new thread. I was answering a post about the windshield problem. We know about the situation in FLA, but my point is that the companies should bring pressure on Honda. Also the insurance companies aren't paying for this coverage, you are. FLA has some of the highest premiums in the country. The insurance people are not as interested in our welfare as they are about complying with Florida law, and selling insurance in Florida. It is illegal for a vehicle to operate in Florida with a cracked windshield.

Honda has issued a TSB for the cracking associated with the original design/assembly, and modified the design/assembly. What else should they do?

The problem is that Honda, in spite of the TSB, has been refusing to address the glass cracking issue fully. Any windshield crack for the affected vehicles should be fixed by Honda. Windshields that normally would not crack after being hit by small stones are cracking. Honda is spitting hairs by deciding which cracks they will fix. Not fair to consumers or insurance companies when is fact Honda has stated that the part is defective.

My Element is the first one that the dealer in Temecula, CA is going to replace the windshield on. The windshield is not cracked but, it is making a "popping" noise on the lower right corner where it appears not to have sealed properly. I mentioned to the dealer that there is a TSB on this and after they contacted Honda, they immediately ordered the new windshield and made an appointment. I don't know if the knowledge gained from this board helped or not but, it was great to have it in hand. They also ordered a new front bumper because it's "chalkey" looking. Did not have to ask them to do this. So far, my dealer, Norm Reaves Honda, has been great.
