My friend recently got an Ipod video and wants to rip dvd's that he already owns and put them on his Ipod. I know there was a thread about this in the past, but I can't find it. Can anyone tell me how to do this or post the thread link?

Thanks!

I also have the video ipod and I use DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD to my hard drive, then I use Videora Ipod converter to convert the file to the H264 format that is needed for the ipod. Both programs are free and they work pretty well, but sometimes later in the movie the audio goes out of sync with video. Not by much, only by a second or two. I heard this is a problem that others are having with other conversion programs as well.

If you have a Mac, I heard that "Handbrake" is the best program, and it does it all instead of using 2 programs.

As always, for all things iPod, look here (http://www.ilounge.com/). If you dig deeply enough, I'm sure there's something on there about that. Also, I think it was last month's issue of MaximumPC magazine that had a whole issue about creating/managing digital media.

I follow the same route, and it can be rather tedious. If anyone out there has a better solution, let us know.

I have the Honda Music Link and it is unfortunate that you can not watch what is being played on the iPod when it is plugged in. Although the length of cord coming from the glove compartment is pretty short, so it would be a little difficult to watch it while it is plugged in.

Do you have the Aux Jack in that EX-P still, ,I also have the Ipod controller for my Eclipse stereo with the dock connector in the glove box. I also have the aux jack available to plug in other devices as well, even the ipod in video mode can be watched and played through the aux jack.

I still have the AUX input up front, and I know I can do that, but it is just unfortunate that the new Honda Link system doesn't account for that.

For Windows, AVS Video Converter will convert any DVD (that is not copyright protected - if it is use DVD decrypter to first remove the protection) to IPod, or .mp4, format. I use it all the time for my friends IPod and he has about 100 movies on his.
