...I'm investigating REALLY hard!

We've got an eight month old Great Dane, a 21 year old cat, and another Great Dane pup on the way. I need a vehicle that will pack em around to the dogparks (okay, the 21 year old cat stays home but it would have been totally rude not to mention our oldest child!)

The puppy in waiting...

The 130 lbs of 8 month old puppy joy (he's the guy with the stick and aerodynamic ears)...

And the ole girl who puts up with us all...

One of the sticking points with my Element quest has been the fact that the back windows don't roll down or slide open... they just crack open a bit... my big dude needs to have the wind blowing through his ears (and jowls) a bit. Anyone know of any aftermarket type sliders that could replace those back windows?

I have seen that there is a great full sized rubber mat manufacturer out there so was wondering if there are any other accesory businesses that might be working on useable windows.

Hopefully... soon...

Thanks!

Hmmm... Do they have a quick remove front passenger seat option?!?

Welcome, flake. :) Yes, in a wierd way. From the back seat you can step on a little pedal that makes the front passenger seatback fold forward, and the whole seat move up. It doesn't remove it, but...

What a precious brindle puppy! Well, both your pups are adorable, but new puppies are irresistible! So - why no pics of the new ELEMENT!?! As far as the back windows go, just think of it as Honda's way of helping you to do the Right Thing. You know your big guy really shouldn't have his head and jowls out the window anyway <insert waggling finger icon here>, so this just helps to keep him safe for those few minutes it takes to get him to the dog park where his freedom awaits. Meanwhile they do crack open enough for him to stick his snout right up there and get a whiff of all passing doggie information - and give you plenty of dog-snarf to clean up.

Welcome to new E-ownerhood. Enjoy!

Maybe open the sunroof? He looks tall enough to reach that! If not, try folding the rear seats down flat. Or he can just hang his head over your shoulder & share the front window.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

I have to admit... I didn't know that (aside from the obvious doggy head hitting a street sign type scenario) a dog sticking his head out the window was such a traumatic thing. I grew up with dogs who road in the back of the pickup all the time and it never seemed to be an issue... even had my first Royal Standard Poodle (he was a monster dog) bail out of my pickup while I was driving so he could take down a mule deer!! (Don't worry... he was just holding the deer down when I finally got back to where they were and released the deer.) I still think no jowl surfing at city street speeds is overkill but... he doesn't get to do it anymore! Poor doggy...

Didn't get a "rain hole" in the top of my E... I've never had very good luck withsun/moon/sky/whatever roofs in my vehicles... I live in Seattle... water just seems to find a way through those dadburned things!

I did install the oversized driver's side arm rest/console (note to anyone else doing this --> you DO NOT need to cut any slits in the seat material as per instructions... with a little patience and tool/screw manipulation... you can do the install without slicing & dicing) and it has really cut down on the Haus coming up between the seats and trying to take over my driving responsibilities... I appreciate his helpfulness but -- YIKES!!

I will get some photos of the dogs in the E ASAP... it has just been a bit crazy at work and at home (Zeek the pup is a hand full... added to the fact that Haus is two hand fulls and...) ;-)

Very nice! We're heading to the Oregon coast tomorrow morning. Maybe we all should do a Seattle-area meet to a dog park ... there are plenty of us for sure!

Flake, your pups remind me of my Brazilian Mastiff I had. Their called Fila's. Very protective animals and everything they do, it's natural in their charactor. Good dogs but you can't have them around the general public without having full control of them. If ya get a chance, look up the breed if you're not familiar with them.
