Does rocker trim help with door dings? or is it just cosmetic only? Anyone have it already? Easy install?

the location of it would not prevent the door dings, it is completely cosmetic.. i did not get it for that reason.

Yo frenchtoast,

I feel your pain. Those flat doors just look like they are begging for a door ding. I know it will happen. I just don't know when. And a plastic strip at just the right heigth would ruin the look for me. However, a good body shop probably could install a strip for you at a reasonable cost if you don't mind the look. I think the strips would glue on so they might be removable within a short time after installation (those adhesives cure and after awhile probably bond with the paint). Anyway, you might check it out.

I did buy the factory rocker trim. And, no, it doesn't protect you from anything but rabid lap dogs. However, it looks great!

Next week I am getting rubber strips installed on my doors. It is the adhesive type and the accessory shop installing it said that it would be on for the life of my E. The strips I picked out are really kindof ugly but I think they will look great on. They are black rubber and about 3 inches wide and have these little grooves in it. It will really add a utilitarian flair to the style of the vehicle, which was my attraction to begin with. I'll take some pics after its installed.

Groovy. Please definitely post pix! And thanks for the other info on the rocker panels, guys! I was about to get them, thinking they'd save the doors...
