I use my "E" primarely to haul our 3 Newfie dogs around. The rear seats
are removed permanently. To increase cargo space I built a shelf that
sits across the rear window sills. It's big enough to hold about 3 milk crates
with all kinds of little things that would otherwise slide around in the rear.
And it gives our dogs the whole floor to spread out. To keep items from
falling off the shelf I bought a "spider web" cargo net that is anchored in the
4 corners.

Where did you get your newfies from?
What kind of package did you get on your ELEMENT?
What did you pay if you don't mind me asking?
Regina Honda has had little success in getting ELEMENTS in fast enough and people have been buying from S'toon instead...or so I hear through the grapevine.

Yes please share a picture if you get a chance.....while I don't have a dog.....this might be a very cool thing to have in place during long road trips to keep things a bit more organized and accesible.

I have set up the following rig in My E to make control of carried items easier. (Don't have a web site, so can't send a photo).
The following high strength bungee cords are more-or-less permanently installed:
2 24" from front tie down to rear tie down.
1 36" from Left front tie down to Right front tie down
1 36" from Left Rear tie down to Right Rear tie down.
(This is most easily visualized as a bungee "box" at floor level)
Now, on both front to rear bungees, tie two loops to divide the length in the cargo area into thirds. (I used smaller bungee cord, left over from the seatback to do this) Two clove hitches per loop work well (Loop is made by tying both ends of the smaller (6" for ease of working; you can trim later.) bungee to the front/rear bungees).
Tou can do the same on the crosswise bungees.
Now, with two more bungees of each size, connected to the loops, you can hold almost anything at floor level, or slip corners of the object under the bungees to hold them down. These bungees can be hooked up as needed (so the floor remains clear) or left in place.
This worked well for carrying a live orchid home, and, once installed, takes no time at all to secure objects.
Don't know about securing Newfies though.

Pictures can be seen in the Image Gallery under the title Bart Thomas' Bungee cords.
Once I see how this rig works, I'll pretty it up with"Hog Rings" (used to clamp bungee cord. So named because of the resemblance to the ring placed in a pig's snout to stop them from rooting) and pretty cord.
