: REI's big, big sale: May 5-14
hiker chick 05-03-2006, 08:38 PM Though I could stock my own small REI, I'll be hitting this sale Friday.
With my new mountain bike, there's a whole new section of the store I now shop.
:)
ADAMLSTL 05-04-2006, 12:37 AM I got my ad today.. Looks like some good stuff on sale.. I'll be there..:D
SamIam 05-04-2006, 01:18 PM Now only if they'll start selling Yakima Cargo boxes at a reasonable price! :)
Miss Ellie & Co. 05-04-2006, 01:32 PM The bastards! Bad enough that REI is having a big big sale but now there's a new REI store opening up within blocks from where I work in Santa Monica. I will be driving by it M-F twice a day! I don't stand a chance. Resistance is futile.
bacchus1310 05-04-2006, 03:09 PM Lucky for me there isn't an REI for miles and miles. However!!!! Once I move i'll be close to one.

Yes there is, and I have used it. I'm just happy there isn't a store closer, or I would spend more money there. :D
Uncle MIke 05-05-2006, 07:32 AM Thanks for the sale info Hiker Chick!
How about a link for us lazy folks?:D
UnoKitty 05-05-2006, 08:27 AM Here is a link.

Totin' Notes 05-05-2006, 10:02 AM I got my REI sale flyer/catalog thingy in the mail yesterday when I got home (with a 30% off coupon on the back). Woo-hoo! I know what I'm doing this weekend. :D

Element Art 05-05-2006, 10:56 AM I bought some bike shoes a couple of weeks ago at REI that will be on sale tomorrow so I'll be heading in for some new deals and a 25% refund on the shoes. If you know they will be out of something you can always buy it ahead of time and take your receipt in for a refund during the sale as long as you made the purchase within 30 days of the sale that is.
hiker chick 05-05-2006, 02:46 PM I went at the opening buzzer this morning -- quite a few were already there. Not everything in the store is on sale but enough is that it's worth perusing.
All the full price bikes are 15% off and since I bought my mountain bike less than 30 days ago I can take my reciept in and get that 15% as a credit. Yay!!!!

Totin' Notes 05-06-2006, 04:46 PM Okay everybody, what'd ya get? :D
I loaded up on Clif Bars and some clothes. And I bought a compressible pillow (http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?storeId=8000&catalogId=40000008000&productId=47871089&parent_category_rn=4723203) to keep in my E, for those impromptu naps.
I almost bought one of those self-inflating sleeping pads to go with it. The REI one (http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?storeId=8000&catalogId=40000008000&productId=47900978&parent_category_rn=4500449) is wicked cheap. Hmmm... maybe I'll go back tomorrow.

hiker chick 05-06-2006, 05:07 PM I have one of those fish pillows too. Very cheery! :)
My goodies were the TOPO! map software for the Mid-Atlantic (good stuff - have enjoyed planning and printing summer hikes); cell phone handlebar bag, tire pump and a Topeak seat bag for the bike; bear spray and pants.
I need to camp more and shop less.

Well...I did it!:D Only spent $150....:???: Got some great clothes...
After falling victim to have to have the new ultralight jacket in downtown Denver REI I thought I was done. But since there is an REI near the office, and since I had a few minutes at lunch, I went in and found more stuff I had to buy...... So a pair of Keen sandles and some Smartwool socks. Just too good to pass up.
StumpjumperDave 05-11-2006, 07:02 AM I have a REI less than a miles from my office, very dangerous....
and my bike clubs monthly meetings are held upstairs in their meeting rooms.. they allways make extra money that night.. they put some new bike stuff right by the stairs on purpose.
Voltron 05-11-2006, 09:32 AM I already went to REI all the time (we have a great "flagship" store in downtown Denver, about 1 mile from my condo)....and, after I hit this sale TWICE already, I am out another 500 bucks...lol. I got a new tent for E camping and the FAM, as my 2 person backpacker isn't going to cut it with a newborn. I also bought a new set of lite hiker's (Merrell) and got my fiance some Salomon Water Shoes...and of course, I had to load up on Cliff Bar's that are 20% off. Even if you shop there once or twice, PAY THE 15 BUCKS TO BECOME A MEMBER!!!!! Last year I recieved a 40 dollar dividend, and I only spent around 400 there....I am already PAST that now!

True...:) And if you don't want to be a member use my info when you buy stuff and I'll take the credit...
hiker chick 05-12-2006, 07:05 AM I bought a second mountain bike Wednesday night. K2 Zed 3.0 -- so bikeless friends have no excuse (also got an extra helmet, on sale for 25% off). And I'm going to put city-friendly tires on this one for riding to work.
It's a lovely hue: dark, dark navy in matte finish.
Sale ends Sunday.
I.......must.........stay...........away.........f rom.......R..........E..........Iayayayayayaay!
Perhaps Nordstrom, instead.

Congrats (again !) . . . (I may have to become "bikeless" ;-) )
I've managed to stay away . . . so far. I think today after work, I will succumb to the call of "Yakima" and new socks. :)
Voltron 05-12-2006, 10:54 AM my idea was that, too...lol...anyone can use my member ID, thanks for the dividend...lol

I'm cured. I stopped by 2 different stores on the way home last night and spent 0 $ :)
The Yakima spare tire mount for the load warrior is what I'm after and I'll have to order that online . . .
I put some Continental Travel Contact tires on my Giant last summer and they are great . . . stupid things that I used to do that would cause flats don't anymore (but I still do stupid things  )

Impressive restraint.
I did stay away from REI today.
Went to HTO, instead. (Hudson Trail Outfitter)
bike tools and a couple magazines. Practically zero...
rgkgraphix 05-13-2006, 06:54 PM Yeaa the climbing harness I wanted was on sale, I don't trust my old one since it got soaked with gasoline...ooops! and picked up a gerber LED flashlight.
I went kind of nuts... bought a new stove, grille, pants and a jacket for Bobo.
I'm glad work has been crazy and the drift racing even crazier or else I would have spent a lot more.
MsMarvel 05-14-2006, 12:08 AM This sale has loaded up our Mastercard to the tune of...well...not quite a mortgage payment. But close. My husband is going a little crazy preparing for the big trip next month.
Sale ends Sunday...and we never found a single item to use the coupon - it can only be used on non-sale merchandise.
ADAMLSTL 05-14-2006, 07:29 PM I wish the sale went till the 15th... I want to buy more and have been too busy this weekend..:-| Nice to see so many REI members here....:-)
