I'm trying to keep my furballs out of the front seat area. I have a Husky, a Greyhound and a Maltese. Fur from the husky and the fact that the maltese can squirm by almost anything really makes some kind of barrier a must. Especially with the cupholders sitting on the floor between the seats.
So what's the best solution? Money is no object if it works well.
Thanks!!!

Watch "The Dog Whisperer", aka Cesar Milan, on Nat'l Geoghaphic channel. I think it is on tonight (Friday).
He also had a nr. 1 book on Amazon last week.
If you love dogs, you've gotta see this guy in action! If you're a bit scared of dogs, you'll enjoy it, too. From yappie Yorkies to snarling Rotties, he has them on their best manners within minutes. Then, he teaches their owners (and all of us) the simple techniques.

Uhhhh.... ya, I've seen it. And my dogs are trained (the little one is a pup). But there's plenty of other reasons to have it. Especially when I have to leave them in the car while i run into a store.
So if you don't mind, back to my question... What is the best divider?
I asked once, too. It got completely out of hand.

"The Dog Whisperer"?!? I think someone must have accidently replied to the wrong thread...
I have been looking into the barriers as well... but everything I've found is pretty flimsy and I'm not sure I want the barrier behind my seats... I thought something just blocking that area between the seats would be the best.
But... I recently installed the console armrest. It pretty much keeps my 130lb dane pup back where I want him to be. A little dog could still suirm under and into your latte though!
So... I'm not much help to your cause but thought I'd drop the console idea in here... plus, I'm still interested in any unique barrier ideas.
I also have just purchased a large dog safety restraint that I could hook into the seat hooks on the floor in back of the E... but I know my big boy isn't gonna like being tied down... he likes to circle around, roll around, go to and fro in the back... I know he'll be barking "FREEEEEDOM!!" if I try to restrain him in there...
Decisiions... decisions... 8)

There have been other threads on this. Also check out the Orvis web page, they have a lot of dog stuff.

Here's something I've been looking at....looks pretty sturdy. It can be found on www.hunterk9.com for $49.95 - I have Champion K9 seat belt harnesses for my dogs but once I unhook them, they try to get into the front seats so I thought this would solve that problem.

Thanks for the great info atomicdogride... I ordered the barrier last week. I also just finally got my Champion K9 harness hooked up... works real well now that I found a strap long enough to work with a Great Dane!
I'm still a bit miffed at the Champion K9 folks... crappy customer service... won't reply to emails, won't answer phones... and I can't believe they send a harness lead that is so short a GD can't stand up if the strap is attached to a floor securement. I had to find some leads that were long enough and supposedly strong enough to work with the upper rear tie-downs in the Element. BTW... whoever thought of putting those two tie downs up there... I freaking LOVE you man/ma'am!! Excellent for protecting the dogs in case of a nasty accident on the road!

they had this listed on their site in the dogs - cargo - section. i hope you're not supposed to put your pup in there!

I like the look of that one that hangs between the seats, might have to pick one up myself.

Flake,
Glad to hear you ordered the barrier....hope it works out well for you and your GD. I still didn't order mine but probably will soon.
I know EXACTLY what you mean about the folks at Champion K9. I have 3 dogs but only ordered one harness at first to make sure I liked it. It took 3 weeks to get! I recently ordered the other two...and another 3 weeks has since gone by...geez, talk about SLOW!!! I left a message inquiring about the status of my order and actually did get a phone call back saying it would ship "tomorrow" because it was on back-order....sure hope that's the case since they already charged my credit card three weeks ago!

atomicdogride,
Sounds like their customer service is at least consistant if not stellar! I tried searching for the harness system through another "store" but... no luck. I wouldn't have ordered from these folks again but I needed another for the pup and figured by the time the danged thing got here he would be big enough to wear it! It really does work well on the big guy though and he seems pretty comfortable in it.
