Lucious Hellcat: Seems that your and my Elements were scheduled to be built about the same time. My salesman called today and let me know that mine has been built and is on its way to Papa. So, maybe yours is close also. It has been a very long several weeks waiting for it to be built. Had an extra long wait because I wanted the side airbags. Should have it by next week. I feel like a new father waiting for my baby to come home.

Now I have a question. I have 2 names picked out. One male and one female. So, does an Element warrant a male or a female name? I am thinking that when I see it, it will let me know. What has been everyone else's experience?

My Element is a she, "Elsie" Having a male name for my "E" would just be too obvious.

Just ordered my gg 4wd 5sp today. Build date is between 6/10 and 6/14 so it should be done by this Sat. However since it has to make its way all the way out to the left coast it may take awhile for delivery (2-3 weeks was the quote).

Supamann called me yesterday to tell me she was rolling off the truck.

I can't go down there today and get it for 3 reasons

(1) they need to put on her accessories
(2) I need to help my parents out today with their car purchase (Mom ultimately went with the Impala)
and
(3) I still have this farking cold and am hacking up my poor lungs.

So I'm going to help my parents out today, get a check cut at my bank, guzzle cough syrup, and take Greyhound down to San Marcos on Sunday to pick up my girl!

I. Am. Just. A Little. Bit. Excited!

I very much hope your car will be delivered soon, HEMan.

As to car gender: I'm a firm believer that your car will tell you its gender. My cars in college were boys, my cars after that were girls, with the exception of the late great Silver Surfer (the Isuzu Trooper just wrecked and totalled.)

I made an exception with the Element though. I didn't need the Element to tell me its gender. I just knew it was a girl. No doubt in my mind.

So then what name? Let's see. Orange? Fun? A little crazy? Lucy!!

Mom's car is going to be Ethel. Yes, we're a very silly family.

Is it Sunday yet?

Signed,

Hellcat 48ish Hours away from Her E!!!!

I am happy to report that Lucy is getting all dressed up as we speak. I feel like a father, about to send his daughter away to prom. She's shining right now and almost ready for her date (mom) to pick her up.

Here's the quick status check for Lucy:

1)Fog lights - check
2)Rocker Panel Trim - check
3)Rear Bumper Trim - check
4)Front Bumper Trim - check
5)Splash Guards - check
6)Leather Steering Wheel Cover - check
7)Side Steps - check

Of course, the PDI (pre-delivery inspection) was done first. Looks like we won't get the interior trim pieces in time to put them on (sorry Hellcat). I'll keep you posted and can't wait for Sunday. T-minus 48 hours and counting. Get over that cold/cough Hellcat. You will need your voice, along with a good supply of music for your drive home. I'll keep you posted. Cheers.

Edited to add Lucy is all dressed up and ready for a date :D

In case you guys haven't guessed, (and I don't know why I haven't come out and stated this before - silly me!) Mike Pierce, our own Supamann, is the person from whom I am buying Lucy.

There is not a nicer car salesperson in the state of Texas, if, perhaps, anywhere in the whole dang world. :D

Mike was fair with pricing with me, and in every way was a consummate professional. We talked over various options, and none of this was high pressure at all. He knows his business, and he knew his customer, and there was no way for this transaction to wind up any way but win/win.

Sunday I hop down to San Marcos and I don't know who I'm more excited about meeting - Mike or Lucy!

Pictures and all kinds of excited posts are sure to follow on Sunday night! I think we should have an online party!

Hellcat, you are too kind for words. Your appreciation is heartfelt and means everything in this business. The kindest words we can ever hear is to know our customers are 100% happy. Win-Win indeed.

I also can't wait to meet the Hellcat. Come dressed for pictures, because we also take pictures of all our customers and you even get a cool calender with your baby E and yourself. Online party Sunday night sounds great. Now just get here safely. Cheers.

HEMan & Hellcat -

A..N..T..I..C..I..P..A..T..I..O..N!!!!!!

It must be killing you!

The wait is the worst...but at least the end is in sight...you will soon be united with your new babyEs. YEAH!!!

I waited for my dealer to find one, and it only ended up being about 2 weeks (felt like 2 months!!) When I got the call that they had found her & and I could pick her up the next day I was pretty much jumping up & down with excitement (earlier that day my salesperson said that she had called about 8 states and there were none available, we would probably have to order it...then she got called at home that night saying they found one & it would be there the next day..I expect a deal fell through somewhere)...that Tuesday, waiting to go pick her up, was very very l-o-n-g!

I knew mine was a girl ( I was calling her 'her' right away) but needed a few days to know her name - which is Spicey - I don't know what's up the the extra E..it must be for Element..it's just the *right* spelling for her....

I imagine you'll have a name for yours in no time!

Anyhoo.....

I'm all for a party Sunday!!! Yee haaa! Party favors...we need party favors!!!

Best of luck Hellcat! Driving home with Lucy will sure be a treat. I agree that you will know the gender of your car when you see it. I've had both: from Nicole the Nova, Ozzie the Dodge Omni (awful awful car), Billy Barty (Honda CRX), and Smilla Saturn (after great book, but so-so movie, Smilla's Sense of Snow), and now, not quite original, but BULLDOG the Element.

Have a safe trip!

I'll second the comments on Mike Pierce (a.k.a. supamann). Mike is a great guy!! He went above and beyond the call of duty to help me in getting my Element. I strongly suggest that if you live in TX and are looking to get a Honda that you give Mike a call. I promise that you wouldn't be disappointed.

Many, many thanks to you as well, buckaroo. Glad I could help out and bring you into the Element family. Congrats and cheers to you. Keep us posted on the status of your E.

Hellcat, another quick question for you. How useful have you found the ownerlink from Honda? I'll try to post a link to it later when I can look it up, but I was just curious how effective it is.

TheLusciousHellcat
06-13-2003, 03:29 PM
Ownerlink is okay so far. You can't have too much communication or too much information. Maintenance suggestions: yep, good.

Having an online owner's manual is a great idea. I may download it to my PDA. (Oh how geeky am I? VERY!)

Hope never to see a recall notice :::knocks wood:: but it's nice to know that I'm in touch with Honda if I need to be.

Patience, Pecoskid!

I will have my E by this time on Sunday. I will share photos, and posts, and all kinds of happiness.

If you had a good experience at Gunn, good for you. Dallas wasn't dealing on what I wanted when I wanted it, so I figured: "Hmm. That Supamann - how Supa is he?" And the answer is: "Very!"

Just wanted to give everyone an update on Hellcat and her lovely new Element. She arrived safely and is currently driving home in her new E (Lucy). I also wanted to say that Hellcat is every bit as wonderful in person as she is here on this board. She truly made my day by driving from Dallas (4 hours) to do business with our dealership. Thanks Hellcat, you are the greatest.

Hellcat will be online tonight and I am quite certain she will provide the rest of the group with some excellent pictures. I have seen Lucy all dressed up for a few days now and Hellcat did it right. The little accessories make all the difference in the world. Make it home safe Hellcat and we look forward to hearing from you soon. :D :D :D

YEAH!!!!!! Lucy and Kimmy are together at last!!!!!!

TheLusciousHellcat

And if I could drag my laptop down and sit in my car and post, I would.

To put it simply: it's love.

Lucy is everything I hoped she would be and more - so smooth and easy to drive, delightful steering, perfectly great acceleration and braking, and ya know - lots of funky orangeness. Many looks as we were buzzing up 35. A Dallas cop checked her out, and my neighbor pronounced her "Way cute."

I practically sold a couple on getting an Element when I was still in the driveway at Roger Beasley - I was opening doors and talking about wipe-down floors. Hey Mike, if they buy, I might just ask for a commission!

And folks, Supamann is just one Supa guy. I truly enjoyed meeting him and he set me up with Chris, who is a very nice salesman. Chris picked my mom and I up at the Greyhound station, and when we drove up behind Lucy, I probably squealed like a teenage girl at an NSync concert. I was so excited about buying and driving my car away that I'm afraid we almost left in unseemly haste.

If I pop down to San Marcos again, I'll take Mike and Chris to lunch or something. They're great guys. But seeing as Mom and I both had Le Crud, it was better to try to get home rather than stretch out the day. I would have taken about an hour to sputter out exactly how much I appreciated everything about dealing with Mike and his dealership. It was totally worth getting up at 6 and getting on a bus to travel. It was an excellent car buying experience that left me with the knowledge that I had chosen wisely in who I dealt with.

So, we stopped and got a bite to eat and headed back to Dallas. About in Austin, my mom looked at me and said "You look so happy. That makes me happy to see. I wouldn't miss seeing this for the world."

Kind of says it all right there, doesn't it?

Around the Dallas City Limit we hit the Mother Father Sister and Brother of all Rainstorms. There were moments there when I could not see anything in front of me - it was a wall of wet. My mom was praying over and over "Please don't let it hail. Please don't let us wreck the car." Neither of those awful eventualities happened, but we did have to pull over for 20 minutes.

Result: My Lucy is a bit spotty and muddy! O, the indignity. Can you guys wait until tomorrow for pictures?

Damn, I own an Element. It's mine. She's wonderful. And I'm really deep down bone-certain that I've picked a winner of a car that will motor with me for many happy miles.

Happy Father's Day, Happy Lucy Day - to everyone!

Tired!Kim

Hellcat: Did you remember to go out and kiss Lucy "goodnight"?

I can just feel your joy. My E should be here this week and I can hardly contain my enthusiasm. I know people around me will be glad when it is here so I will quit obsessing about it. Little do they know that it will probably get worse once it gets here. At least for awhile. I am planning to take off work and give it a Zaino polish job the day it arrives. :D

Smilla's Sense of Snow is probably my favorite book ever, and I'm a passionate reader. It was so different than everything else, and such a great combination of mystery, science and a personal journey for Smilla.

I actually liked the movie a lot, but I didn't expect the same things from the movie as I did the book. It was a book that would be very difficult to translate into a film with 100% accuracy, and I think they got the main parts pretty much right.

So cool to find someone else with a Smilla passion. I should have known that an Element owner would be diverse and erudite enough to love that book.

I've started The DaVinci Code now and it's promising to be quite interesting, I just finished The Hours, which makes me want to reread some Virginia Woolf, and somewhere in there I'm reading parts of Dharma Lion, the biography of Allen Ginsburg.

I'm blathering!

Glad you got your E. Did you know that E is a verb? "In an hour I am going to E to my health club." "Shall we go for an E tonight after dinner?" With apologies to the Bard, "To E, or not to E, that is the question."

I expect that you will like Eing in town as well as out on the highway. The E turns on a dime and is very easy to park. We have 1,000 miles on our car (?) and are Eing to Houston tomorrow. The reason for the question mark is that we couldn't decide whether to call the E a car, truck, or van - so, we dicided that is's a vehicle. "My vehicle is an E."

It took me a month to talk my wife into buying an E and now she loves it. It is 'her' car and she smiles every time she looks at it.

I look forward to your pics and apologize to all lit. and English majors for the first paragraph.

Hellcat, so glad to hear you made it home safe through the storms. What a mess. We were also praying for your safe trip home and very glad to hear all went well. Your mom is also right, that seeing you smile makes this whole transaction unbelievably rewarding to us. Thank you again for your business, your trust, your appreciation and your frienship. Can't wait to see the pics.

For everyone else reading on, I can only hope you all might get a chance to meet the Hellcat in person. She's as terrific in person as one could possibly imagine. May Kim and Lucy enjoy many, many years of happiness together. :D :D :D
