: 0 to 60 on Automatic AWD
CEJCPA 06-13-2003, 10:00 PM Has anyone tested the 0 - 60 time for the automatic awd? It appears that
the vehicle is 2 - 3 seconds slower than the standard 2 front wheel drive.
It does not feel slugish, but the stop watch tells the real story.
isketerol 06-13-2003, 10:09 PM If I remember correctly, 8.1 for the 5-spd and 9.6 for the automatic in the Motorweek tests. The 5-spd pulls away nicely without even trying from stoplights. I can see a few people a bit astonished to see a "SUV" do a drag-race-style start. :D
Element 06-14-2003, 02:38 PM Does anyone know the 2wd automatic times :D
cratE 06-14-2003, 10:21 PM Do the times improve if you drive off a cliff?
isketerol 06-14-2003, 10:53 PM I believe the 9.6 was for the 2WD auto. Yes, you could acceleate to terminal velocity from a cliff quite quickly.
Slowhand 06-15-2003, 07:19 AM I wish I hadn't gone from 0 to 47 so quickly
CEJCPA 06-15-2003, 10:51 AM My own tests with the automatic awd indicate a 0-60 time of 10.9 to 11.4 without torque loading with the brake. The better time was with premium fuel and cooler temp. The slowest was at 85 degrees on 87 octane fuel.
This sounds slow, but is still better than my Dodge Grand Caravan with the 3.3 liter engine.
Perhaps Honda should consider providing a little more H.P. for this vehicle.
The 5 speed does give better performance, but I do prefer the automatic in the local stop and go traffic.
Element 06-16-2003, 06:28 PM 9.6 with a 2WD isn't so bad for a 3,650 < i have about 100 pounds worth of accessories > car :D
qsilver074 06-16-2003, 11:03 PM Want better 0-60 times?
Have a 5 speed? One word. Nitrous.
Have an automatic? Level 10 Torque Converter and Transmission Kit. Then Nitrous.
MrCLoWnY 06-23-2003, 08:16 PM MatT3T4 said that Revhard is making a turbo kit for the Element or a kit that will fit the element, I mean we all know that the K24 is being used readily by honda being in the engine bays of the accord and the crv....... But yeah Turbo is the way to go........
89'pony5.0 06-25-2003, 01:19 PM dude that would be so bad to have nitrous and about 10lbs. of boost
man you could beat a caravan every time
meanelvis 06-25-2003, 03:18 PM
89'pony5.0 06-25-2003, 03:23 PM lol

isn't it torque that determins the 0-60?
Ha, I always say that my 0-60 time is in never. :)
ShotOnce 07-11-2006, 01:40 PM man you could beat a caravan every time
Don't count on that, check out this minivan...

fishlee 07-11-2006, 04:17 PM check out this site 1/4 mile times for cars.
scroll down to the Element times.
2003 Honda Element EX 0-60- 8.7 sec.... 1/4 mile --16.60 sec!!!!

...sounds like the 2007 element is for you....they are boosting the HP +10 and a 5-speed automatic will be available....

Now there's your ultimate example of a "sleeper"...
Alex4Reel 07-15-2006, 12:38 PM I have an AWD automatic element with a K&N Typhoon air intake
The 0-60 im guessing is 8-9 secs
the high rpm is great it sounds like a beast lol
with a jet ECU upgrade and a better exhaust this thing would have a pair
and one of my friends that races his 500+ Hp MR said that he saw an engine head for this car but i havent found it yet he will have to show me where he saw it. but he said with an ECU upgrade and an engine head would add like 150-170 hp :-D
but earlier this week i raced a honda civic with a full after market exhaust and a cold air intake and entirely murdered the civic by about 5-6 car lengths (its not saying a lot but i bet it is bad getting beat by an element!!!!) so with just a cold air intake i noticed a lot of difference it is def worth the 200 dollars:cool:
wankerklink 07-15-2006, 04:30 PM Car&Drivers 0-60 time in a 4WD AT EX (2006) was 9.5

LOL Beautifully worded!
dohcvtec 07-21-2006, 03:53 PM slow..very slow.thats all i can say...:D
Bill Berckman 09-24-2011, 08:15 PM This is an old thread, but found it on a search. Having never driven an automatic Element, I wondered if the 5 speed was any faster then the automatic. I thought my 5 speed seemed pretty responsive for a 4 Cyl, eapecially from a stop. On the 0-60, the manual won by almost 2 seconds. Not sure if the top speed is comparable on the Auto vs Manual, but it does seem like the 5 speed could use an extra gear sometimes at highway speeds.
If I remember correctly, 8.1 for the 5-spd and 9.6 for the automatic in the Motorweek tests. The 5-spd pulls away nicely without even trying from stoplights. I can see a few people a bit astonished to see a "SUV" do a drag-race-style start. :D
psschmied 09-25-2011, 10:33 PM My E takes a little over 9 seconds to go 0-60 on a flat entry onto an expressway without squealing the tires.
I've never had to push it that hard to merge. Better tests for real world driving would be 30-50 mph and 55 to 70 mph - ranges experienced during passing maneuvers.
I wish I had a convenient place off-track to test the time to go 60-0 on various surfaces.
racerc2000 09-26-2011, 07:00 PM not that its real relevant but 30-50 EX 2wd beats SC 55-75 SC beats ex 2wd
heavy wheels FTW
but yea I think all elements stock were in the 16.4-16.9 range
0-60 was supposed to be the 8.4 sec range
but a nice set of light weight wheels/tires maybe an intake and exhaust and you could run a 16.0 or faster. shorter height tires (if you can correct the speedo) would be an immense help as the element needs a gear change. atleast the 5spd auto is way over geared for the element.
if you never go over 100 why would you need gears to go 150 on a 50 mile strait away
