I'm helping my buddy put in a new head unit. everythings working on it but he keeps blowing a fuse under the hood. Its the "small light" one. His dash lights and tail lights dont work. What could be the reason for this. Could i have wired the "dimmer" wire wrong. There was no dimmer wire from the new head unit so i wired it to the "illumination". Is that wrong?

dont wire the orange wire. This always causes problems! Just tape it off so it dosnt touch any metal.

if you haven't bought this already you should get this from a local car shop like autozone or straus auto. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-X0FHcQDWBEG/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=103000&I=120701721 just match up the color wires and you'll be good. takes away all the headaches! i use them all the time and and its stress free!!

thats the same one i used. I followed the wiring diagram on here. My only troubles were the orange wire. I also wire the red and blue together. I think thats ok right? Do u have to wire something to the shield below the power ant.? There was no wire in the wire harness that i bought to match up to it.

I'm gonna undo the orange wire tomorrow and see if it still blows the fuse and ill report back here.
