Where can I find a detailed parts guide for a full suspension bike? Trying to piece one together.

Try any of the online catalog companies and also head over to MTBR.com (http://www.mtbr.com) (Mountain Bike review)

Performance Bike (http://www.performancebike.com)
Bike Nashbar (http://www.nashbar.com)
Jenson USA (http://www.jensonusa.com)
Speedgoat (http://www.speedgoat.com)
Colorado Cyclist (http://www.coloradocyclist.com)
Beyond Bikes (http://www.beyondbikes.com)

That should help get you started. But what are some of the questions you have. Someone here should be able to answer some if not all of them for you.

Have you picked out your frame yet? If you have, what frame did you choose? Best place to begin for some ideas would be the frames manufacturer website. If you're asking about what parts you need to begin shopping for I can lay that out for you if you like.

The intended purpose of the bike has everything to do with it as well. XC (cross country) versus DH (downhill) require different components.

Yeah I have cross country bike. I found the part I was looking for but haven't found where to buy it. I need a swingarm. Is it called anything else?

swingarm? As in the rear suspension? You won't find that anywhere except a bike shop or the manufacturer of the frame itself. You might be able to find a broken frame or something on eBay or even mtbr.com... but none of the places I linked above will carry frame pieces.

I just replaced the swingarm on a Cannondale Super V with one from a Jeckyl. It was dificult finding the swingarm by itself. Did you buy a frame that was missing the swingarm?

That works because the frames are the same, just the material is different. Carly hasn't told us what frame she has.

That was my point, and it wasn't just the material. The geometry is very different giving me more travel. The Jeckyl is disk only, the Super V was v-brake only.

the basic geometry is the same. One might give more travel, but the connections to the frame are the same. Brakes are easily changed out.

Putting Disc brakes on this year's Super V swingarm is not going to happen without major surgery. I also dumped the Fatty Headshok for real forks.

A company makes an adapter to install disc brakes onto non-disc brake bikes.

I was looking at a Schwinn Straight 8 but it doesn't have the swingarm included.

If you're looking for a frameset you might want to try www.mtbr.com and look in the classifieds/frameset section. It's a great place to buy and sell.

here's a good place to start: Schwinn Forums (http://www.schwinnbike.com/heritage/forumdisplay.php?forumid=3)

WOW, that's a $2200.00 retail frame!!!! I'm a little confused, this appears to be a downhill setup and you mentioned that you wanted an XC bike.

No I have a XC bike. I was thinking of a downhill bike project. I want to try it but in will probably be more for my BF. Starting to think that this is way too much boke for him anyway. I asked a few guys that ride alot and they think this swingwarm is going to be hard to find.
