: What to use for a Sirius Starmate mount?

I have a Starmate mounted with the factory suction cup mumbo holder that the Starmate snaps into. This is the one that came with the unit. With the change of season and added heat to drop in temp with the A/C the suction cup no longer holds any kind of grip and the Starmate ends up in my lap or on the passenger seat. I am not looking to integrate the Starmate. I like the portability of the thing and dont like stuff sitting in view on my dash when I'm not in the car. Does anyone have a link or a photo that might help here?

Thanks...

shmee here is my Starmate Replay install (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20040&highlight=starmate+install). Hope it gives you some ideas of how to possibly do yours. Incase it isn't mentioned there I used a Bracketron bracket to mount the Starmate to it. I have the Panavise on the opposite side for my iPod.

I mounted my Starmate right in front of the 12Voutlet and Aux input on the shelf. I used the steel bracket from a Starmate Replay HOME unit, and fixed it with double-sided 3M dual lock (velcro on steroids) to the shelf surface. I bought a REAL short mini-to-mini plug at RS and shortened the power cord accordingly. It looks VERY clean and can easily be angled towards the driver.
Neat.Easy.Done.

Is it easy to reach all the way over there?

Yeah, A pic would be good here pokenaut. I like the idea of velcro on steroids, but what part of the suction mount are you utilizing? As far as reach goes, the Starmate comes with a full featured remote control so I'd be open to the idea. I would NOT be open to the idea that my wife would then claim rites to switching stations being that the Starmate is now in her section of the Element ****pit. Too many dilemmas.

Spdr, I have seen the pic's of your Starmate mount and I still thoroughly beleive that I'd have better luck building a backyard nuclear reactor. I have very limited car-stereo installation ability skill so that's out. I don't know if you do that kind of thing for a living or what, but you should definitely consider it as a 2nd career if nothing else.

I just noticed I should have said 'rooster-pit' instead of the word that rhymes with 'dockpit'. LOL...this really is a superclean forum.

Watching where I put my rooster from now on.

Sorry folks but my digital's on the fritz right now...

But it's reall quite simple. If you buy a HOME kit for your Starmate Replay, it comes with a very simple metal bracket for it's mounting. You buy a small (2" square) pc. of 3M Dual Lock. One side goes underneath the foot of the metal bracket, the other sticks right to the shelf in front of the power and audio-in jacks. The cables are pretty much hidden by the Starmate Replay unit itself when installed.
The ONLY issue I have is when I ran the Sirius antenna to my dash, I really didn't want to drill a hole anywhere (car's SOOO new) so I have it coming out of the glove box door on the left side, RIGHT BELOW where the unit sits on the shelf. There is only about 5" of cable visible, but still, it's visible cable lol.
Maybe later I'll drill a hole and run the antenna cable out behind the mount. I read here that I could remove the power or audio-in jack and run the cable out that hole, but I was unable to get either (supposedly) snap-in jacks to come out of the dash.
Once it's all in, you can mount the unit facing straight ahead or angled towards the driver.
Reaching it's not an issue. I use the remote, which I drop into the cavity between the two drink holders. Volume is still controlled from the steering wheel mostly. I leave the adio signal from the Starmate set to it's highest level.
Also, I am looking at some cheap dollar-store black plastic boxy-shaped items that I can cut a 3-sided section out of, and use it as a false-wall behind the bracket to completely hide both the cables and the outlets, making it look REAL neat and tidy.

Excuse the crappy photo, but it's a borrowed camera
Here sits my Starmate Replay in the cubby practically designed for it's use, with handy power and input jacks behind it:
