<<UPDATE>>
Looks like we are officially on for Saturday July 8th at 10am at the Starbucks in Frisco (the one at Preston and Stonebrook)
_______________________________________

This is the new poll that allows you to select multiple dates that will work.

We've been discussing over in the DFW (Dallas-Ft. Worth) element owners reply thread about having a saturday morning coffee meet, probably at the Starbucks at Preston and Stonebrook in Frisco just because it has a lot of wide open parking spaces next to it. We haven't really discussed time, but I was thinking maybe 10am? I've created a poll so we can vote on dates. Depending on the amount of interest we could possibly do an E Caravan to another location for lunch afterward.

And yes, one of the poll dates (July 15th) conflicts with the National Meet, but hey, we can't all make it to the National Meet.

If this grows into something that warrants more then Coffee then those of us not from Frisco will need suggestions on what to do in the local area for a few more hours. I can stay pretty late Sat.
A nice drive to the state park and grill would be pretty fun..
Hang out and take stupid picts.
If your driving from Austin area or anywhere in between please notify me so we can Caravan.

Did someone say there's an IKEA over there? I don't know much about Frisco, either.

At what point do we say "OK, next week it is!"? Say, 12:01 AM Monday? If others (like Grivas) are willing to sacrifice extra time and gas to make the drive, the least we can do is have a firm commitment in advance.

I love this format of the forum but,,
It is fantastic to discuss this and such but it is so ironic because the one thing it does not do is help you organize. You are always 1 step away from getting your head around exactly what the status is and how many people are interested in a meet. It's like we can do anything we want but we are not allowed to organize a meet and get a head count, or run a list of who has committed to the meet like,, maybe Evite.com
If you want to do an email blast to interested parties to help with the meet you get limited to only 5 at a time. This is the reason Texas really needs to get a website the group has control over to post organized info and also build forms to gather info from the users to have a database for email blasts and postal mail
This is my 3rd post on this and it really does not apply to this thread..... so,, sorry in advance.....
Send me suggestions of what would be a good URL for the Texas website?

I was thinking
texaselementownersclub.com or maybe
TexasEOC.com
any comments?

I attended a meet in Austin on 3/25. We exchanged email addresses etc. and I can contact them. Maybe it's a shot in the dark; I don't know.

Having been involved in various activities where people voluntarily assemble, I identify with your comments. My experience has left something to be desired. I have numerous theories about why it is so hard to make these things happen but they are probably irrelevant.

After posting and allowing discussion, someone has to decide something. If you grab the reins and set a date/time and tell people to be there or be square...maybe that's the best you can do.

I'll drop the link to this discussion in my signature. That will automatically put it out there in my over 1000 past posts.

Edit: OK, my signature line isn't working? Will keep trying.

ok... Frisco is a fast growing town, lots of stuff to see and do, but lots of traffic too. Ikea is maybe a mile or so from Starbucks, its next to a really nice mall, and on the other side of the Highway from Ikea is a Honda Dealership. there is Lake Ray Roberts which is probally about a 30 minute drive from Frisco with a really nice State Park. I'll see what else I can think of.....

Sounds like a good plan, especially since the 8th is the most popular date so far and coming up soon. Let's say poll ends at midnight on sunday night (July 2nd).

Grivas, liked both your domain suggestions. texasEOC may be better just because it's shorter, although the other is more descriptive.

Good morning, all.

I, like Roadwarrior, can't make the 8th. The week that immediately follows it I have to drive from San Antonio to Houston to San Antonio to Austin to Houston and finally back to San Antonio, all in five days. The thought of driving to Dallas a couple of days before this trip is just not in the cards...

I will be in Dallas and Oklahoma City the week leading up to the 29th, so I could probably swing that weekend if that's where we land. Don't wait for me though - if the 8th works for everyone else, I'll just make the next one. We really should start thinking about a camping/hiking/biking trip sometime in the fall. Perhaps Big Bend, or maybe something more central like Lost Maples, etc.

Have a safe and happy 4th everyone!

I think the time that is being bounced around is about 10am.
I have reserved a Big Pavilion at the state park. When the coffee meet is over I will be driving down the way to the state park and grill up some food outside for lunch/dinner.
I will also be bringing my fishing pole just in case.
Everyone is welcome to join me,, or not.... I have the Pavilion for the entire day.

Lazysailer,

How many Es are you thinking we got lined up for Coffee in frisco?

Sorry haven't been more active on this thread the last couple of days. On the road with infrequent internet access.

At least 7 for this coffee meet according to the poll, if everybody shows up. Looks like we are officially on for the 8th now. At 10am?

And if this goes well, we could always do this again on another day for those that can't make the 8th.

I sent out an private message to everyone who had posted on the DFW Element thread at one time or another telling them about it. Hopefully we will have a few lurkers come out too.

HEY - we just finished the pool re- do (see pics) - anyone interested in a pool party? Lots of room - located in Hillcrest/Preston - Frankford area. Happy to host the "Tx E gang" any time!
Just say the word - pools open and the water's GREAT!

We live on the creek that goes under Frankford just W of Hillcrest - next to the park on Hillcrest S of Frankford. We used to live in Bent Creek on the OTHER side of Preston closer to where your Mom was. Have a friend in FB who has seen you - he lives off Josey nearer 635.
Yep we have a big ol house (for 2 people) and we just spent a fortune on the pool and backyard and want some folks over to appreciate our hard work, LOL. It was nice before but now it's really neat out there - and we also have a big pond and a 9 turtle habitat back there (box turtles) as well as the goldfish and the water turtle in the pond. It's definitely not your average suburban backyard....

I'm from PA so I can't come down for your meet up, but I am a big fan of MLS and I know Frisco is home to the shiney new Pizza Hut Park, Home of FC Dallas. I checked the stadium schedule and there are home soccer matches on the 8th and 29th. The 29th is a double header with a couple Mexican teams playing in the nightcap, FC Dallas kicks off at 6. On the 22nd is the Kenny Chesney concert. None of these events would make for a bad night out. I know FC Dallas would be thrilled to accomodate you since Honda is the official automobile sponsor of MLS.

I will be there - Mr Tango is in Chigago on NHRA business until Sat evening so I will be solo. I will bring my digital camera - it's a pro Nikon so we'll have lots of great pics. I am not hugely familiar with the area so anyone who is - where's a good spot (besides the Starbucks parking lot) where we might take a few fun pictures?
I DID the grill mod and then got a free set of Cloud Rider grills but I am happy to help anyone who is doing it - I have really small hands which is a definite plus when doing this and the side blinker mod. BTW for anyone who hasn't done the blinker mod, it's almost as easy as the grill.
We want to invite the DFW/TX E-gang over for a pool party soon so I will be polling everyone as to their interest and good dates. Got this big pool just waiting and it hardly gets used - great excuse for a party huh?
Now I have to go out and polish up the E so she looks her best! She's clean but could use a quick going over.
See everyone there!

OK - for those who are interested in turning the side marker lights into blinkers:
You are going to need 12 gauge wire, crimp wire connectors and the wire splicer connectors (for splicing a new wire into existing wire)
Tools are easy: long screwdriver (to remove side lights), wire cutter/stripper and a good pair of needle nose for crimping connectors
Read this thread for more info:
http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8839

Kermie, I will take LOTS of pictures and post them here!

The E-Band is taking shape before our eyes
And no, I'm not a singer - well not the kind of singer you'd need for such a promising musical endeavor. I will be happy to handle the fan club, merchandising, promotion, T-shirts and marketing tho.

I will stick a few tools and odds-n-ends into my E tonight for the group mods session. Tango-E is all spit-shined and ready to roll. Y'all wear your NICE T-Shirts for this - you want to look good in the pics for the EOC board, right??? I am gonna wear my EOC T- shirt.

As my s/n indicates, I play rhythm, no lead, mostly 60's/70's MOR pop type stuff. America, Eagles, Beatles, a little bit of a lot of things. What kind of music do youse guys like to play? And remember, there is always room for groupies.

I know Shen made some tri-fold EOC brochures in PDF but I haven't gotten around to printing any yet. I suppose if we print those brochures and leave them with other Es when we see them that's the best we can do for advertising.

Good times today everybody, see you next time.

I think it would be nice to have something about once a month. Of course we can meet for coffee anywhere, or perhaps we'll take Mrs. T up on her gracious offer?

Also, there are always things going on around Texas if we're willing to roadtrip. Could be that includes some camping action (which could be an oxymoron, depending on how you camp). Here is a link of things going on for August:

Also, here are some strange sights in the state:

OK Gang, today was so much fun and since we have pool, have space, have food - all we need is YOU!
Let's pick a weekend in August and we'll host the whole DFW/TEXAS EOC membership at our house for a Pool-E party.....
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y59/inkstudios/Little%20Bit%20Of%20Everything/backvw.jpg
.....have seating for 14 already, everyone who was there today would fit easily...and with a few add'l chairs, well lets just say we've had 50+ people with no problem.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y59/inkstudios/Little%20Bit%20Of%20Everything/newpool1.jpg
Thinking say 3-8PM on a Saturday? A sort of never-ending buffet of food rather than a cook-out so it'll be a come when you want, stay as long as you want affair. Swimming, music, lounging, maybe some light E-modding in the garage???
Mr Tango is back tomorrow so I can consult his schedule for possible August Sat conflicts and we can start planning the festivities.
We'll save a seat for ya!

Things got a little busy this morning and I couldn't get away. Looks like you guys had a good time. Seeing all those E's together really looks cool! It almost looks like the dealership. I hope to make it next time.

Sorry you cound't make it. We carried on without you :)

It was a lot of fun. All the E's lined up got a lot of second takes, especially when we were caravaning down the road. We had several E's drive by the parking lot gawking, but they didn't even stop! Guess they just don't get it.

Finally got my new plates, so I should be much easier for you to spot around town :-P

Looks like you guys had a great time! I'm very jealous that I could not make it to meet you guys. But I did think about you all today and wondered what all you were doing.

I love the pictures....be sure to include names for those of us that didn't get to meet everyone:razz: And wasn't it just too darn hot to be sitting on the cement working on E's? Dallas must be having much "cooler" weather than we are down here.

And I couldn't help but laugh when every picture I see of the guy in the orange shirt is sitting on the ground in from on an E. He must be the hard worker of the bunch:)

StumpJumperDave, a.k.a. "the guy in the orange shirt" was our Home Depot Grill Guard Expert. He got really good at crimping those zip ties.

And yes, it was getting pretty hot out there on the cement by the time we broke for lunch. My face and neck actually got pretty sunburned.

Sorry you couldn't make it. Maybe next time. :|

Okay, I've got to ask....what are Hooter's stamps? I know what the "restaurant/bar" is but what are the stamps? And no, I've never been to one....I don't go anywhere without my daughters and I'd be afraid they would grow up and want to work there:shock:

way to go Grivas...good to see you made it home OK...

Kermie, it was hot ,we sweated a little...but it was all worth it...

from what i gather if you collect 20 stamps from different Hooters, you get a wing party and something else....Grivas can give you the low down..

Yes Dave you are correct.
I have until Sept 20th to get at least 20 stamps.
Once I get that then I will have an E meet Wing party.
I also qualify for a cash prize of 5k
My next area to hit is towards San Antonio.

You know what would be a real hoot is for several Es to hit the road over a 2 day period and nail 20 stamps... Then combine all of the parties as well as share the cash prize if one if the Es wins.... Or put the cash prize towards a proper Texas Meet! Have a band and door prizes and such...

Hey gang, I'm so sorry I missed out on this. LazySailor was kind enough to give me a heads up, but I've been away from the EOC for awhile and didn't read his PM soon enough.

I'm absolutely down for the next one tho. My wife's been looking for an excuse to get up to Ikea Frisco anyway and I've had a really bad case of "Get out of townitis" lately.

Once you go to a Hooters you will understand it really is not as negative or bad place. They always spend super extra care to see the kids have fun. I take my son all of the time. He loves it because they give kids so much attention. When I was there this past time with my son a mother brought her 3 little girls and the waitress pulled out hoola hoops and several of the waitresses and the girls were hooping right in the middle of the restaurant.
My sons favorite food there is the corn dog.

A couple of people asked about the "car care" stuff I use. I went out and inventoried my "crate" and here's the exact names:
Everything is Meguiar's
Plastic Exterior Pieces and Interior
Professional Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner 40
followed by
Natural Shine Vinyl & Rubber Protectant
(also have Mother's Back To Black but like the Meguiar's Natural Shine "finish" better)
Tires
Endurance
Paint
Soft Wash
Quik Wax
Final Inspection

Also have, but have not used....yet
New Car Glaze and Deep Chrystal Polish
ScratchX
Clay Bar - Mild

Everyone who was there please check your PMs - have sent the contact list to everyone for verification.
If you weren't there and want your contact info to be included please PM me with the following info:
EOC name
"real" name(s)
contact e-mail
contact phone
If you add your info we will include you in the distribution for the list and any updates. We can also contact you directly about any events or local "deals" if you aren't on the EOC boards often. The list will be private - just for the local members.
THANKS!

Thanks for taking the initiative, Mrs. Tango! Your listing of cleaning stuff made me think that could be the show and tell portion of the meeting. I'd bring some QEW to show others how it works.

Just an idear, but maybe the pool date could also be a musical jam for interested musicians?

Some live music would be awesome! I will have a list of possible dates tomorrow evening so stand by...
Hey - for those from OOT who would like to come and make a Dallas weekend of it we have a really nice Motel 6 1/2 mile from the house. And Kermie (and other parents) - this would be a perfect meet to bring kids - pool, pond, 9 turtles in an outdoor habitat and 2 TV's and DVD players - one in a separate upstairs media room the kids could have to themselves when they are tired of being with the adults. Our house really is sort of a zoo :-D

Tango, sounds like you have thought of everything. I'll be checking in to see what date you have this fun event planned. If my husband is off, I'll do by best to convince him to come. I much more social than he is. We met online and I'm always telling him it is a good thing we met this way since he'd probably have been to shy/quiet to have met me in person for the first time:D

Well then BRING HIM - especially if Kermie comes with her girls! We will invite a couple of friends of ours with similar age kids (between 4 and 9) and the kids can have their OWN party and swim in the pool, catch fireflies etc. We'll even rent some kid friendly DVDs or they can bring their favs. Swimming, food, critters and movies - we'll call it the Future E Owners Club.

So you're so distraught about missing the Frisco Coff-E Meet that you're turning in your NRA card and changing your avatar? :)

Yes, we could have used a Cargo Khaki. Who knows, you might have even talked us into using our fleet of E's to help you move...........naw.........probably not.:D

Not geting rid of my NRA card just havn't had any bushys in a while. All I've got is a DPMS and my hangun collection. Made the move in 2 trips since I've stayed pretty light on the belongings since I moved to Texas. If yall ever want to get together and go shooting just let me know I'm allways there.
