Well I did it. I finally saw a deal at fry's and got an Overhead DVD player for my E.
I have a 5 year old son and he goes everywhere with me. Some of my drives could be pretty long trips. This was the best thing I could have added to my E that is not selfish. For years I has some sort of DVD play thing that would plug into the cig lighter and it was always a pain in the rear and it was never really good for the viewers and the audio sucked. No I can run it through my main system or they can watch it privately with the wireless headsets.
Something I did not take in consideration was, the Stadium seating in the E is perfect for an overhead video system. I thought there would be some issues with how it would look to the passengers in the back but there are not. You are at the perfect angle to view a great quality picture from either seat in the back. Not all vehicles have this situation so overheads really do not work for them.
There is a remote patch bay box that was installed behind the drivers side door in the rear seat area that is good for many things including hot patching my video iPOD ,, using Monsters iLink cable.
I am not a fan of FM transmit devices but this seems to work great.
The system comes with remote and two wireless headsets. There are also additional output jacks at the back of the unit if I want to extend the video feed to the front seat passenger using a $99 hand held DVD player that is sitting on the dash or something. This worked great on a trip I did with my Son and his mother.
The dome lights that are integrated into the unit are much brighter and give better coverage then the stock dome light.

Nice work. :) If I can ask, how much was it along with installation?

I think it was about 120.00 or so for the install.

And the unit cost?

(sorry for being so nosy but this is such a nice solution, I'd like everyone to know how inexpensive it is to add video to their E)

Fry's has sales out of nowhere. This system normally was about 830.00 (?) and it was on a one day sell for 450.00 (i think)

I love Fry's for sales like this. Plus their shops are a Radio Shack on steroids, which is heaven for a geek like me.

PEOPLE: For less than $600, Grivas had a 10" monitor, with wireless headphones and a breakout box to hook up other toys, installed in his E. If you have kids, this is the way to go and it isn't expensive!

Thanks again for the thread and all of the good documentation, Grivas. You win a dancing E.
