The setup is wireless, but the hotel has to give you a code. I bought my mac with me couldn't bear to leave it at home.

:D DCbox, you sound like me. I even took mine with me to Homer Alaska. With so many places doing wireless now (even Motel 6 is getting wireless next year) I now travel almost everywhere with my iBook. I have never had a problem getting on either...almost TOO easy. Have fun and keep us posted on the latest.
Jake_62 07-14-2006, 11:58 PM Checking in from my laptop in the hotel parking lot where we're having a tailgate party. About 30 great people out here having a great time. Wish you were here. :D

Heading to sleep now...
juliE 07-15-2006, 03:57 AM This is T Mac and it is now 3:55 am. I have an official Misfit badge (thanks, Gail) and I'm having problems typingl. That being said, I love my EOC family. All for now because I can't spell well.
By the way, thanks to Tim for the Canadian brew and thanks to my many friends for making this annual event worth every moment.
Julie even drank beer tonight, and she too says thanks - now that I woke her up?
Is 4 am too early for breakfast????????
juliE 07-15-2006, 04:05 AM Obviously, Tom was using my account to post.
He is so funny! We are having a great time. However, I am about ready to send him back outside!!!!!
Talk to you all tomorrow!
Jake_62 07-15-2006, 04:48 AM No hottubs in the rooms this time, but we did manage to stir up the outdoor pool at 4 AM. :D It was nice to see T Mac and juliE get to spend more time with the rest of us this time around.
wankerklink 07-15-2006, 05:34 AM Have a great time everyone. Wish I could be there:sad: But my wife had to designate 2 weeks of her vacation for our Alaska cruise, which was scheduled for 7/28. The cruise was a Christmas gift from my daughter and son-in-law:) and purchased prior to the date announcement of the annual Event. Have fun and a few cold ones for me.

spdrcr5 07-15-2006, 04:03 PM Yes, this afternoon before the drawing for all of the prizes we announced that the Big E-vent 2007 will be in... Las Vegas! Everyone save up their money, think about planning their vacations now. We don't have a date or any other information to give out. We have only decided on the location. We'll be planning this event out and already have some ideas being discussed.
We expect an AWESOME turn out from our West Coast EOC Members. There are lots of East Coast EOC people planning on going to the Big E-vent 2007: Las Vegas. :)
Can't wait for next year! :D

eeek...Don't think I want to drive from DC to Vegas... I already had to drive my poor E from DC to Houston this past April. Maybe..2008 then.

shanet70 07-16-2006, 01:34 AM I can't believe I stumbled on this site tonight. I'm in St. Louis and just test drove my first Element today and I am hooked. Hope to pick it up early next week. Anyways, is there anything going on with the National event on Sunday? If not, that's cool, I'm sure I'll be posting quite a bit on this forum. Thanks, and welcome to St. Louis, sorry about the temp and humidity...

T Mac 07-16-2006, 02:01 AM Shane - welcome to the EOC. Nothing planned for Sunday other than most everyone driving home. When you buy the E, you'll love it and you'll also love this group that has become like family.

Vegas will be great! I think we will drive the Northern rim....
juliE 07-16-2006, 06:48 PM Just something to keep in mind for people not wanting to drive from the east coast, you can usually get good airfare rates to Vegas.....

Sheesh!
P.S. I put blueberries on my bowl of soylent green every morning. :)

tango 07-16-2006, 08:54 PM Just something to keep in mind for people not wanting to drive from the east coast, you can usually get good airfare rates to Vegas.....
If we go that's the way we'll do it - we'll just have to rent something "inferior" in Vegas. We have great airfare rates from DFW BTW. It's not as far as the East Coast but it is 2 days drive from here and we'd basically have to take a week off for 3 days of "meet". You know, drive it - party - drive it again - and 4 days driving thru pretty boring desert terrain as well - UGH!
Vegas is great fun tho - I have a great time shopping and seeing the sights - and I don't gamble!
bobhch/hchbob 07-17-2006, 01:39 AM Flying and gonna win BIG. I want 2 Elements. That way when my wife decides she wants to drive my Element I have a back up instead of the Mini Van....lol
Hey Everyone should sell their homes (heck you will probably win back double maybe triple) and come to Vegas next year. Yeah baby! If you loose everything all you have to do is start all over again.
I am just kidding but, hope there isn't going to be a bunch of "PC" crap about how much $Denaro$ to bring for the games. We are all adults. Oh if you have a gambling problem. Don't go!! :) Seriously!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's gambling in vegas??????? i've never noticed............
tango 07-17-2006, 02:33 AM I know, I am in the rare minority of people who enjoy Vegas but have no interest in gambling (I have lousy luck anyway). I have nada against gambling - hope somebody in the EOC wins BIG - I just don't get into it. I'd rather take the $$ rent a limo and drive the strip all night drinking Cristal, see Cirque De Soleil and shop. Last time we went my 4 SIL's and I did all the above plus we spent one day at the spa and another we rented a cabana at the Venetian pool and got waited on all day (even lunch) with frozen drinks, a TV, a frig and misters to keep us entertained, comfortable, cool and refreshed. That's how I like to do Vegas. They specialize in spoiling people and I specialize in being spoiled. What more can a girl want?
All I am saying is that without gambling a dime you can still have a BLAST in Vegas. Something for everyone!

Yeah, hopefully. Guess I'll have to wait another year, I don't want to put that kind of miles on the E (not to mention the gas $$) and I don't want to fly in and show up E-less. 2008 here we come.
SciJohn 07-17-2006, 08:43 PM I know, I am in the rare minority of people who enjoy Vegas but have no interest in gambling (I have lousy luck anyway).
Maybe that's why you don't gamble? hmm.
I don't blame you on the gambling though.
Cirque de Soliel gives me the creeps.
My wife and I always wanted to get remarried in the Elvis Chapel. I won her over when I sang "Love me Tender".
Tim Vance 07-18-2006, 02:22 AM We're going to check out prices to ship our E to Vegas, fly there, and drive home.
spdrcr5 07-18-2006, 06:56 AM We're going to check out prices to ship our E to Vegas, fly there, and drive home.
I'm already trying to figure out the best route to take from Long Island to Las Vegas... it all is around 2,500-2,600 miles... depending on speed anywhere from 36-42 hours of actual driving time. Only way to make this at all feasible is to drive it straight through with a co-driver. Back to back 20 hour days of being behind the wheel is rough, works better doing 5 hour shifts. then you can drive non-stop. :)
lwclancers 07-18-2006, 07:43 AM Are there train routes?
I know my grandparents sometimes put their car on a train and then ride the train from FL to VA.
LmentalMastiffs 07-18-2006, 02:38 PM  I soo really wanted to be there. I'm sorry to have missed you guys this year. Since I know well enough in advance, where next is going to be, I'll have my kennel fees paid so no pet sitter backing out or lack of funds to use as an excuse next year!!!!
I hope all traveled safely and had a blast!!
E On!!

Maybe some car pooling would be in order.....?????
I wouldn't want to go it alone either..
Perhaps there are many from the east who would want to pool.

Apparently you are the third Shane here now. Cool, and I thought we had a rare name.

Yes, I think we will be flying out to Vegas, just too far of a drive unless I take a couple weeks off work and make some interesting pitstops. the 960 miles we just drove was just about the limit for me.
I'll look dilligently for rental car companies that rent E's
spdrcr5 07-18-2006, 08:52 PM Are there train routes?
I know my grandparents sometimes put their car on a train and then ride the train from FL to VA.
No, the only train route in the US that carries passenger vehicles with the owners in a sleeper car is the Amtrak run that goes between VA and FL. Nothing to the West or any other points in the country.
Maybe some car pooling would be in order.....?????
I wouldn't want to go it alone either..

All I want is one person to share the drive with. Talking with James (Genom) already. :) The drive can be done non-stop in around 36-40 hours... 5 hour driving shifts and sleeping when not driving. Or split it into 2 20 hour days of driving... I've driven to Phoenix doing this in the past.
NighthawkStella 07-18-2006, 09:07 PM Larry, you are nuts. I mean this in the nicest way possible too :D :D
cai88 07-19-2006, 04:45 PM No way I am taking my E to Vegas. Would be cool but the drive to St Louis was killer. For the cost of gas we can get 2 airline tickets.
lizzurd 07-19-2006, 04:51 PM We are thinking of driving down for our vacation next year as long as it isnt 3 days one way....lol.
brotherc20 07-19-2006, 04:51 PM same here, no driving for this kid to vegas. At current gas prices it would cost like $750 for me to drive while a plane ticket costs $200 at the most.

Thanks! I meet more and more "Shanes" than I ever could imagine...at least we spell ours right :-D
