just spent a few hours washing and polishing lupé today -- first bath since we got her. i'm very pleased with some of the products i used, and somewhat displeased with others. (all were researched through the EOC, obviously.) i believe that my displeasure may be able to be remedied with some more wise words from you all, if you'd care to humour me. to wit...

1] mothers california gold car wash and a wool mitt : k, why did i get next to no suds using this product? 2 oz. in the bucket, agitated with the hose, dipped the mitt and went to work. and no suds. wtf? after a while, i got a bit of suds, as if once the mitt soaked it up, that was the solution. additionally, every time i rinsed the mitt (4 times total), it was back to no suds. i'm confused.

anyway, got it washed up nice, despite the suds issue, then rinsed it again and dried with a microfiber drying towel, which is bomb. then went to work polishing.

2] klasse all-in-one polish/sealant : AMAZING product. took off all my swirls and errant waterspots and made lupé GLEAM. very pleased. the only product i did not purchase as a recommend from the EOC. my buddy, who babies his cooper s' body to a staggering degree, recommended this. applied with microfiber applicator pads and buffed with mf towels. NOTE! this product states that it is safe to use on plastic body panels, but if you don't wipe it off FAST, it will leave a mark. perhaps another application on the marks, or even some of that back to black stuff i've been reading about here will help later, but whatever. those plastic panels are cheap anyway.

and to the glass.

3] stoners invisible glass : another love/hate relationship with this product. obviously, used microfiber towels to apply, spraying directly onto the glass, then wiping off with the mf. on the insides of the windows -- magic. on the outsides? not so much. streaky, streaky, streaky. should i have used polish on the outsides of the windows instead?

i'll hit the rest of the interior next weekend and see what's what with some other products i've read about here. i'm a little worried about the errant stoner's that i got on the dash and stuff. i wiped it off and it doesn't look like it messed anything up, but the warning about not getting it on vinyl or plastic has me stressin.

anyway, if anyone could give me any thoughts they have on my issues with the mother's and the stoner's, i'd be much obliged.

and buy yourself some klasse! it's awesome. click here (http://www.autopia-carcare.com/kus-kla-10.html) to check it out.

I am getting ready to wax mine for the first time. I think I'll check out Klasse!

I've been thinking about the plastic panels and I think I'll tape them off with painters tape. I have had other cars where a little wax on black plastic really messes things up.

Thanks again.

hey, my pleasure. it's good to be a voice of help on the eoc once, as opposed to just asking more and more and MORE silly questions. hahahaha!

i think taping off the plastic panels is a good idea. as i said, if you don't wipe the klasse off that plastic post-haste -- it leaves a mark. i'm anxious to get a porter-cable power buffer and see if that helps to actually buff the klasse off the plastic. (those panels are so cheap to replace, i really don't mind "experimenting" on em.) buffing with some elbow grease is one thing. buffing with rpms is another. i bet it'll give me a lot more leeway, and if it does, i'll pop back in here and letcha know.

good luck!

No problem :)

I couldn't believe how nice the glass came out w/ the stoners/ newspaper combo. Remember, spray it on the newspaper, this way you don't mist the dash (not that, that would be awful) -- I'm anal that way.

Good luck! :D

Stoners & newspaper are the best combo...my grandmother used to clean her NYC apartment windows with newspaper and ammonia-man,those things were CRYSTAL clear!-no lint at all! I might try the ammonia one of these days, but Stoners works so well for me...
