Sept 22 – Oct 1, 2006
http://www.grapeandwine.com/online/index.cfm

We’ve been going to this festival for a couple of years now, and we would love to share it with our friends.
The Niagara Festival is centered in St. Catherines, Ontario but involves almost every winery in the Region. http://www.grapeandwine.com/map/wcomap.pdf St Catherines is about 20 minutes from the Rainbow Bridge

They don’t have a lot of info up on their web site yet, so we only have the dates so far. The Festival is held over two weekends – Sept 22 to 24, and Sept 29 to Oct 1.
We usually go on the 2nd weekend, and hotel rooms should be a bit easier to get…
This would make a nice New York/Ontario Meet.

Who’s up for it???

Still a little early to tell - we (Elaine) will be looking into hotels shortly, but need to know (roughly) how many ppl are interested....
There are TONS of hotels within 30 minutes of St Catherines - Niagara Falls -....She will look into who will give us the best group rate, and she says it has to have a pool for you to attend to :-D
(Thanks alot bud - have you any idea of the grief you've cause me????:D)

Tim, I'm very interested in this. Question I have is, will passports be required to cross the border by then? I heard recently that one of the countries is going to be requiring passports to move between the US and Canada but I don't know when it is supposed to go into effect.

I'm going to try to pull this off, but I'd have to do it the first weekend of the tour since my dad's bday is the following weekend and I'll want to be home for that.

Lizzard is right - it's yous guys that wants us to prove who we are before we can enter your Country. That being said, the first idea they had was to only accept passports, but I've heard that there is alot of pressure from the northern states (and Canada) to squash that. The effective date has been moved back a couple of times, and is now 1 Jan 2008. We'll have to see where they finally go with it.
Right now, you only need proof of citizenship to cross into Canada. Just bring your license and birth certificate...

Hi Larry,
I crossed over (to Canada, that is) - I'm not dead.
Anyway, Several times last fall and each time I was required to have birth certificate, drivers liscense, which is photo ID, and paperwork for the dog.

No passport, when I asked about that they said it would be a while but gave no date. This fall makes a year since then.

I'd be up for this trip possibly. Could be fun and what a great time to travel through NEW ENGLAND to get there.

Rick and I are probably in. I'll tell you for sure once you get an exact date.

The hockey sticks are so you can just reach over with the stick to wake up the border quard instead of having to get out of your E.

After a bit a searching, and talking to alot of people, the best weekend will be the 1st weekend. The festival kicks off with a parade, and that is held the first weekend. The general consensus amongst the participants from the wineries is that the 2nd weekend is always busier...

Therefore we have decided that we are better to plan this for Sept 22nd to the 24th!!:D

So, everyone mark your calenders, and make sure you have that weekend booked off work!!!

Further info to follow, as we get it...:D

Oh jeeez, I'm going to be in North Truro, MA that weekend with friends. So, I guess I'm out. If it was the next weekend I would have left a couple days early, 'cus we're there for the week, and set out for it but can't do that on the weekend that was chosen.

You all have a great time. Behave, Oh never mind - don't behave, but enjoy, the cold will be here soon by then.

Then we'll switch out meets to taking over whole wings or floors of motels, like in Brattleboro, VT.
Hey Mysticfalcon, you must come this year!.

Sorry people, but we have just been way too busy to plan anything else right now....

Thanks for the good wishes guys...

It's actually a cafe inside a clothing store. My sister is opening a clothing store - Aggie Martin (shameless plug - check out the web site - www.aggiemartin.com ) in Downtown Brampton - very high end clothing. Inside the store is a Cafe - French vegetarian cuisine, pastries, coffee/expresso, you get the picture....My wife, Elaine, is a chef, and the Cafe is her's...

Come see us - let us know you're members of EOC and you get a discount!!
