Hello, my first attempt of a stereo install on my E & I'm having a few problems. I've installed the stereo (Pioneer DHP-7800) w/wiring kit & the pioneer sirius tuner....hidden it under the dash. Everything looks good. Only thing I do not have hooked up yet is the am/fm adapter, it's on its way in the mail.

Initally on the install I was checking out how the wiring kit pluged in and forgot to disconect the battery, a few wires touched and sparked. I checked ALL the fuses under the drivers side and none are blown.

My problem is now that everything is hooked up, no power to the HU, and my keyless entry doesn't work. Again I checked the fuses and all are intact, but dunno what's the problem. 1)do i need the fm adapter pluged in for power? 2)is my ground not good enough? I grounded it to a screw, but it may not be good enough, might need someone to give me a good location for grounding the HU.

Any help is great and needed. :-?

Thanks. :D :D

ground it to the factory harness and while you're at it, make sure all the connections are good. did you also check the fuses under the hood? for some reason when i did the same as you touching wires, the horn went out and it also wouldn't let me shift outta park. is there a fuse on the back of the radio? some pioneer's do still have them on the back. if all else fails, start rewiring all over again and disconnect the battery this time. hope things work out!!! heres a link to the radio install, maybe one of the wires were connected wrong http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?TID=16577

Elementology....you were right, checked the fuses under the hood and sho nuff, the "back up" fuse was blown. replaced that & everything's working just fine, just have to wait for my fm adapter to arrive and get some more $$ to get all the speakers amps I'll need.

Thanks. :D :D

You did blow a fuse in the under hood fuse box. The only reason I know this is that I blew it, too, at one point. The key was when you said your keyless entry stopped working (no pun intended). That's when I knew you blew this fuse.

Look in the fuse box under the hood. Roughly in the middle of it there is a bank of 8 fuses. They are laid out like this:

-----------------------
-----------------------
-----------------------

The one in red is the one you blew.

EDIT - But, damn, you know that. :D

Thanks outpost & elementology. :D

It's nice to know that I can go to you guys for help on my install. I'm sure i'll have more questions as this was just to put in the pioneer deck & sirius.

I'll be putting in a carputer, amps, speakers too sometime in the near future.

peace
