I've got a 4-year old English Bulldog, and every car I've ever had, she must have shotgun! We'll be getting an E in September, and I love the rubbery material the seats are made of (I'm thinking easy cleanup here)...
My question is, has anyone's canine co-pilot ripped the seat cushion with it's claws? In my previous cars I installed seat covers to protect the uphostery and cushion...
thanks,
Casey

A seat cover of some sort or other is a good idea with any dog. Even without clawing, a dog tracks in a lot of dirt. Some dogs also slober.

If I had a slobbery dog who rode shotgun I would get a seat cover that was removable and washable. I have my dogs in the car enough that I am thinking of covering all the seats with Wet Okole covers but for now a quilted cover on the back seats is all I need for longer than the to-the-vet trips. I crate when we are traveling but not around town and even though neither of mine slobber much they have dirt, oil, debris and even plain old mud, dirt and water on their feet (and elsewhere sometimes) and one good shake or trip across the seats means lots of cleaning for me - the cover makes for almost instant clean-up.
BE SURE and get a cover that will work WITH the side airbags and that is easy to put on and take off and is really washable, as in regular washings. Some say they are and really aren't. Some things you can't just wipe off you'll want to wash the cover - trust me. Even good dogs can find the most noxious things to cover themselves in - and it only takes one second of looking away to have eau de dead something going all the way home in the E with you. :D

Get a seat cover.
You ever smell a dogs butt?
Don't ask.
