Here in Metro Detroit, we have an annual spectacle called The Woodward Dream Cruise. The promoters claim it is "The worlds largest one-day celebration of car culture, attracts more than 1,000,000 visitors and more than 40,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom, collector and special interest vehicles." This event takes place on a 16 mile stretch of Woodward Avenue and it is quite an amazing site to see. I have even heard stories of people shipping their cars from other countries to participate.
Although the event is officially only one day (August 19th this year), the cruisers and spectators start gathering nearly a week before and continue for a couple days after. I drove down Woodward last night and there were already quite a few cruisers out and people sitting in lawn chairs on the side of the road.
