Hi......first time poster, long time lurker. I had a Sirius Sportster installed by a large national electronics chain and, although it worked, I didn't like the finished look. You could see the power cord, the antenna wire, etc. So I decided to make some panels to put behind the unit, to hide all of this stuff. I glued vinyl over some plexiglass type material I had laying around. I think it looks a lot better than it used to. I wish I'd done it a lot sooner. The installers are responsible for most of the scratches you see.

P.S.-does anyone know the best way to cover them up, or remove the scratches?

i think it may be worth the $$$ just to replace those parts, from what i've seen, they aren't that expensive.

I also hate seeing the wiring, I'm going with the new Sportster 4, all of the wiring runs out the back of the cradle:

Reviews say it stinks if you use FM modulation, otherwise works good. Very clean.

How long ago was the install? If it was in the past few weeks, I would go back to the "Big Electronics Chain" and have THEM replace the piece that's scratched. That is an unacceptable amount of damage to your vehicle (in my opinion).

looks good, what i used was a Panvise Cell phone bracket, only wires you see are a small section before they go inbetween the radio trim panel.

i also went behind the factory aux plug and integrated into that, so you can still plug into the factory location for say an ipod or anything with the phono jack. was tricky but worth it. since my wife and I are constantly battling over the ipod and the sirius
part can be found at

Agreed. We would have replaced these pieces no question. A small scratch is wear and tear. These aren't small scratches.
Otherwise I love your install and the mount. Nice fabrication by the shop. :)

Pretty interesting install. Did they do the hidden antenna trick, or is it on top of your roof?
