blue-ex, a lot of people make these. Most every manufacturer has a video piece that is a combination of monitor and DVD player. Your radio hole is a double DIN, which is a standard size. Alpine has a new and sweet one, the IVA-W200 (http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/products/product.php?model=IVA-W200). It's also the ultimate iPod controller. Alpine's piece is $1,000.
Again, most of the major car deck companies do what you want. Check at your local stores.
blue-ex 09-09-2006, 10:36 PM thanks,
will that fit directly in the dash ?

That Alpine is a sweet little unit! Tempting, very tempting.

Well, yes....with a caveat.
The hole for your factory radio is actually about ¼" bigger than what's needed for the new monitor/radio/DVD player. Something needs to be done to fill in that gap. It also tends to mount a little crookedly. A good installer can beat both problems. Here is my radio, which is an Eclipse piece with navigation, before and after.

Empire 09-09-2006, 11:36 PM I adjusted mine by tweaking the tabs of the mounting bracket around the unit so it could sit at the proper angle but also allow it to protrude slightly for the beveled trim ring to sit correctly. Most trim rings, like Outpost's original will be flat, mine happened to have an angled edge. Easy fix and I like the look.

blue-ex 09-10-2006, 02:22 PM I am actually looking for something like this. Notice the flip up monitor in the dash.

Only 2, the passenger side monitor is some Hong Kong Fooey brand I debadged.
Oh that picture you are reffering to does not have a flip out monitor in the dash. It's a sperate add-on monitor I believe bracket mounted above the headunit. One thing to consider about flip-outs tho is that they will block your upper vents when the screen is up.

If the driver is careless and doesn't shut the vent, will that have any adverse effects on the LCD?

http://www.imageville.info/uploads/23f49aa5e6.jpgFlip-ups will work, too, and are single DIN units. You get a little pocket under the radio and the trim question is solved. What you are seeing there is the E driven by the Directed Electronics rep for Japan. He somehow has both the flip-up monitor and a radio underneath. How, I do not know. Yours would not look like that. :) Yours would be just the monitor, with most all controls on its touchscreen.
jpeaslee 09-11-2006, 10:04 AM I'm not sure but that looks just like a monitor my friend had in his truck. It's not a flip up, its just bolted there or something.

outpost4 09-11-2006, 12:19 PM I hadn't thought about that. I bet you're right. It is just bolted over the center vents. Lose the vents/gain a monitor. That's a fair trade-off. :)
