Just picked up a new Fleetwood Cobalt popup camper. Gross weight of 2300 lbs, empty weight of 1300. tongue weight of 135 lbs. Seems to tow great on way home, plenty of power for our auto 05 element. Dealer says he has done 5 elements with this popup and if it was his element, he would not put on a transmission cooler. What do you think? Pictures to follow.

Since the E is rated to tow 1500 lbs, I'd say you're fine w/out a trans cooler as long as you keep your camper below 1500. Just read the manual and use common sense and good maintenance.

Enjoy your camper and post pics! :D

Yes, this thread definately needs pics. I don't think I would put a transmission cooler on either if it were mine. But I have a pick-up I tow with when I need to. I haven't toad anything with the E.

Very nice! Me like it. If you don't mind me asking, what is that thing cost?

Is that a Vector Cooler/Warmer in your popup? I have a smaller version and it fits perfectly between the front seats...Makes a great arm rest....It blocks the emergency brake, but I live in Florida so thats no great deal.....Works real well also.

Yes, it is a Vector and its original home was in the Element. I picked up a converter? that allows me to plug it into regular house current or 12 volt. The camper does not come with a frig, which was ok as many are small and sometimes hard to work. I will eventually get a small dorm room size refrig for the camper and return the vector to the element. Best wishes, bill

I looked at those a while back. The 'Element' series - how perfect. My only beef was the size of the beds. The beds are 6' long. I'm a bit more than that. Othwise, they'd be my first choice. They look nicer than a lot of more expensive pop ups IMO.

I hope you can give us a trip report.

Cheers,
Nick

I'm also 6'2'' but with small wife, it seems to work. We will be getting a memory foam topper for the bed. Not like the king at home but will do and will let you know how it works. Anything with a bigger bed was too heavy or too expensive for us and we will not give up the element. might have to trade in the wife (LOL) best wishes! Bill
