Hi! Just found your site last night. Right now I am driving a Kia Mini Van and I really do not like it much. It was a necessity at the time. I would love an Element but I am concerned about the size. I have 4, yes 4, full size greyhounds. Now I am not looking to put all of them in at once, but one possibly 2 if there is an emergency and we need to evacuate. My Husband can fit 2 in his car. One mostly for vet visits etc.

Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance

Debbie

Hi, Debbie. Welcome aboard. I bought my E for the dog. I love the vinyl floor for fur removal, and the other thing that has been very nice is that the entrance to the vehicle through the passenger door is low enough that the dogs can get in without a big jump. Probably not a problem for a greyhound, but if any of your four are seniors or have hip problems, an easy entry vehicle is a godsend.

I think four greyhounds is do-able. In previous dog threads, I know folks have said they can use two large crates inside the element. If you don't crate the dogs when you travel (don't admit to it here, by the way. There has been... unpleasantness), and if the greyhounds get along with each other, you could do four full-size greyhounds in an element if you took the back seats out. I'd suggest some kind of pad, though, as the vinyl floors are friction-free for doggy paws. Also, I suppose you could fold the backseats all the way flat, one on each, one on the floor in the back and one in the front seat.

There are several threads in The Truth About... section which have photographs and other generally good ideas about how to travel with an E full of mutts.

First of all.......Welcome
2nd - you will love the Element for your dogs - although I don't have greyhounds I have 2 large dogs (105lbs and 95 lbs) and have transported 4 Golden Retreivers in mine without issue
This is the most practical vehicle out there

Hi Newatgolf...Welcome! I got my E a few weeks ago since I have been taking my dogs along with me all the time. I have a collie/shep mix, chow/shep mix and a husky mix (all about 50 lbs) and the E has been awesome! I just put the seats up, throw in a couple rugs and we're on our way. When I get home, I've been shaking out the rugs and using a dustbuster to clean up the E and I'm done in a matter of a few minutes. I haven't seen anyone on here yet who isn't happy with their E for their pets. Hope this helps!

Debbie, I recently purchased my Element and I was getting out of an Expedition. You want to talk about concerns about the size of the Element...phew!

Regardless, I made the plunge and could not be happier! I have 2 adult great danes both weighing in at about 135 each and well... a heck of a bit taller than a greyhound. One chills on the back seat, the other in the very back (short trips). Longer trips, I throw the seats up on the sides, put down a mat and let the two of them take up the complete back. (I put a mat down so their feet don't get caught in the area the seats lock into the floor)

4 greyhounds... no problem! Two thumbs up on slobber and hair removal as well!

Another thought Debbie! Do what I did. Bring the dogs to the dealership and throw them in the Element.

Debbie,
You will be delighted. We had 3 greyhounds and can take them all comfortably.
The side doors are wonderful for loading & unloading. Especially unloading them as they are easy to reach & control and can't jump out as easily.
I've even changed the Element logo on the back to "Elemutt." Might be a photo in the archives here.
Let me know if you need any more greyhound/Element words of wisdom.

No pics yet. saving for a down payment. I am hoping end of this month or beginning of November.
I am looking at the Red, EX-4W-AT, 07.:)

My current vehicle, a Kia Sedona, is very upside down, and so we are trying to save some $$ to off set a little.

Shouldn't be a problem. I have Italian's, so I can get about 457 of those in my E. Four Greyhounds shouldn't be a problem.

I have a retired grey, a fat husky (redundant?) and a maltese. All 3 of them are large for their breeds, just our luck i guess. And they all fit without a problem. Two greys will not be an issue.
