Hi to u all!
I really love pets and I’ve being interested in animal all my life !
I have 2 dogs : T-bone & Rex and a cat for the last 2 years who’s name is Robert. lately Robert has been having worms, (is it possible that he got it from the neighbor’s dog or other dogs and cats???)
I want to the vet and he gave me some de-worming pills for him. I tried to crumble the tablet into his food but he notice it right away.
I tried wrapping it with some sausage but he refuse to swallow it .
I even tried using force but Robert kept scratching and twirling!!!
what can I do ??

Our vet had these things called Pill Pockets, they are treats with the middle hollowed out (like a pocket), you put the pill in there. They worked for about a month them Junior got smart to them, we then resorted to the force method. Worth a try.

Hello

Cats can be a real pain to pill, especially older animals. If you can't entice them to take the medication contained in a favourite food you will have no choice but to try and put the pill at the back of their mouths so that they will swallow it.

I find that holding the cat and trying to soothe it for a few minutes helps a bit. Then gently pry its mouth open with your fingers (don't put your fingers in its mouth!) and quickly place the pill at the back of its throat. Continue to try and soothe the cat and rub its throat to get it to swallow.

In the past I have had to hold particularly ornery cats in a towel while doing this so as not to get scratched. Good luck!

I have to pill my 9 year old cat twice a day, every single day, and while there is no sure fire way to do it, this website is a great place to start.

The most helpful step is the very first one, wrap the cat in a towel like you're swaddeling a baby. Make sure you get him/her wrapped up nice and tight so they can't work their way out.

i have found that a very thick coat-think ski jacket-is necessary to prevent scarring.

Fleas can cause/promote worms. Do the dogs & cat have some sort of flea protection?

The site CoffeeDragon cited has it down. We usually can do the pil dance in the first 8 steps. We have 6 cats and one is 22 this year, so we have put some pills away. Also, it is (although you need to show a cat this more so than a dog (we have 3)) imperative the cat NOT get away with not letting you succeed in getting the pill down. Persist in trying to get the pill down, eventually you will wear the cat out. Good luck!

you can open your cat’s mouth an try putting it on his tongue and make
him swallow it or you can try some websites than sales all kings of medicines of cats and dogs but one seems very sufficient ‘cause it’s wrapped in dry food and in different flavors
you should try it …

you crush the pills in a spoon (with another spoon) and add some bottled water. transfer that to a sort of syringe (without the needle, any pharmacy will give you one for free), and put the liquid medicine in it. Add some more bottled water to the spoon to get the residure medicine and add that to the syringe (or suck it up, as is the proper meathod). It is much easier to give cats medicine this way. I give medicine to my cats daily. I sometimes sit on my cat (well, kneel down on both knees and shove the cat in between then close my knees so he cant' get out from the back or front) I hold his mouth open with one hand and shove the pill with the other. Then with one hand I keep his mout closed and use the other to help keep his head vertically up. play around with different methods. If anything, wrap him up in a towel.
