: TPMS on the '07's

Just got home from the dealer with my new '07 Atomic Blue EX 2WD.

My '05 EX AWD was totaled about a week ago (17 inch Acura TL wheels and all!!). Seems some 18 yr old jerk (hey, the cop called him that, not me!) didn't know the difference between red and green, stop and go. He side siped the front end enough to total it out.

So, I want to put the Acura 17 in. wheels on my new EX, but I have a question about the new TPMS in the '07's. Can I install the transmitters in the TL wheels, and if so, will they function correctly? The manual states 'you must use TPMS specific wheels'. I now that the Acura wheels have transmitters in them for use with the TL, but I don't know if they mount the same way. As a last resort, I guess I could disable/turnoff the feature.

I love the look of my new '07. I was able to salvage my Elemat and carpet set, but the Insurance company hauled it off to salvage before I could the other things I really wanted off of it,, arm rest console,, Hidden-hitch.

Oh well,, these items will come back slowly, as the funds will allow. Wheels and tires first though.

Thanks in advance ... Dwight

Well, this isn't an exact answer to your question. But when my girl owned her Z, she put aftermarket wheels on her Z and she just took the transmitters out of the stock wheels and transfered them over and everything worked great. Unfortunately, that is all the insight that I have for you.

I know the 05 Frontier I had, had the trasmitters in the valve stems so they would swap to almost any wheel, if the E is the same it should work as well. Keep us posted, thanks. Drew

Both the drivers side and passenger side bags deployed. First time
for me in an accident where airbags deployed! Came away with basically some burns on my forearms from the airbags, and a stiff neck. Pics attached..

I was an adjuster for 5 years, and if I totaled that car, I would have been fired.

You must have made a friend of the adjuster. I see about a 40% recovery on the car. I was also a supervisor.

You were lucky....glad you did not get hurt too.

What you don't see is the damage to the passenger side..the right front wheel has been driven back, almost touching the wheel well, multiple engine mounts busted,, water pump knocked off the motor. This was adjusted by 2 people, the shop it got towed to, AND the insurance adjuster. Both came to the same conclusion. The shop adjuster said he was sure there was more damage,, he stopped when he reached 70% retail value. More behind just what you see. Also, both airbags deployed, seat belt on drivers side locked,, so these all have to be replaced.

Do I like the '07 better than my '05,, yes,, would I still like to have my '05 and not have to hassle with going through a new purchase, deal with insurance companies,,you bet..

Long story short,, I had nothing to do with the fact that it was a total loss..
first time I layed eyes on either of the 2 adjusters.

Thanks,
Dwight
