: 2007 meet
ramblerdan 10-23-2006, 03:17 PM I've been trying to drum up support from Northeast Chapter folks on Vegas. One stumbling block is that the last two national EOC meets have conflicted with the big Syracuse Nationals car show. The 2007 Nationals will be July 20-22. Might it be possible to schedule the Big E-vent for a different weekend?
Cheers.
spdrcr5 10-23-2006, 04:28 PM anything is possible, we'll try and avoid that weekend. Tom and I will be in Las Vegas November 1-4 for SEMA and to plan for the event next year.
Heather 12-09-2006, 06:07 PM Sorry if this has been spoken about before - but I'm still fairly new and still finding my way around.......
How is it decided each year when and where the meets are? Has there only been the 2 so far?! Does anyone need help with getting things done?! :D
T Mac 12-09-2006, 06:42 PM The first year was easy because we chose to go to East Liberty Plant where the E is made. We loved it. They loved it, but it's also a lot of work for them (Honda) and their summers are busy preparing for the big Honda Homecoming event. So, they want us back but not annually.
Feedback from those on the west coast (and those in Southern states after the first year was: bring it more south/west so we're able to think about coming. So, last year we moved it to St. Louis because there's much to do and it's more central in the US.
In 2007, it will be in Las Vegas. Those on the West coast deserve it and there are MANY members out there. I'm hoping all of you out there plan to attend!! We are looking at doing this in LATE June but nothing is in stone yet.
In 2008, I'll tell you right now... our goal is to get back to East Liberty. We've got even more friends in that area now which will give us even more options for things to do during our weekend there.
As for needing help, that's great and we usually need a little help with something, especially since this grows every year.
It's a great time and the EOC is filled with some great people. I think several from the Northeast Chapter of the EOC will drive to Vegas because they have been to these meets, they know how much fun they can be and they enjoy the overall experience of it. I now have family all over North America thanks to the EOC and the national and regional meets.
More to come soon... Thanks!
bh241 12-09-2006, 06:51 PM Let me be one to say YEA! for the '08 in Ohio. :-P:-P
There's just no way I can swing the Vegas meet. It's just too far, the boarding for the pups alone would kill me
I still think it should be the "North American Meet" not the "National Meet".
Those Canadians are a hoot.
ShaneS 12-09-2006, 08:55 PM I am 65% sure I will be going to the Vegas meet, I'll be looking with binoculars out the window of the 767 at the freeways below for E's with EOC stickers lol. We are most definatly not driving 2700 miles.
Heather 12-18-2006, 09:46 AM Thanks for the info! Helps me put it in prospective!
I wish we could make it to Vegas this next year, but I got a new house, new E and some upgrades on the house. Plus hubby plans to buy back an old truck of his (a choptop chevy) so there goes ALL my money! lol Knowing what lies in the following years will help me to plan ahead!
I would love to make the drive out for it, but I don't know how much of a reality it is.
tooljedi 12-20-2006, 04:06 PM Have fun, but I can't spend 5 days plus on the road in transit! may be the 08 one I can do! Possible fly out with Mrs Jedi for the 07 with out the Millennium Element! :-)
chozn4service 12-21-2006, 01:45 PM Yea, I wish I could make the next meet. I can't see driving though and you can't readily rent an E from Hertz, Enterprise or any other leasing agent. I couldn't make this past meet due to my mom's condition and ultimately passing on to be with "The Father" during that time. I wasn't active like now when it was in Ohio and I kick myself in the butt all the time over that one but hey. Anyway, if and when they have something that I can reasonably drive to so I can show mine off and take tips and cues from others and possibly do some things while attending it, I'm there. I know my wife would love to come and was down for the St. Louis meet had it not been for mom's battle with ALS.
Hope everyone has a good time at the LV,NV National Meet.
JPH102900 12-21-2006, 02:03 PM Alright! I like hearing that it might be back in Ohio soon! I really wanted to go this year to St. Lou but I really don't want to put those kind of miles on the E and Vegas is a def. no-go because we wouldn't even have our E, we would have to fly and that wouldn't be as much fun. Bring it back to the east coast for 08!
Phill 12-21-2006, 06:43 PM What hotel would you be using in Vegas?
jdiane 12-21-2006, 08:58 PM I guess us left coast peeps will have to totally represent in Vegas baby!!! :-P:-PWoot Woot!! :D:D
Dom.five 12-21-2006, 09:15 PM We are waiting on the dates. We want to see if we can make flight reservations in advance. There is a Vegas junket that gets run around that time, that offers 1/2 rate fairs. It does mean that you must spend at least 8 hours each day over a 2 day time frame, at the Machines, or tables. But for 1/2 price I/we can do that.
'
It depends on the dates. When they get posted, I'll take a look for the Dela's, and post them.
Dom
DCbox 12-23-2006, 06:10 PM I'm waiting on dates too, but I do plan to drive there. It should take 3 days 4 max.
brotherc20 12-23-2006, 07:19 PM My buddy and I drove from Lake Placid NY to Lake Havasu City Arizona last April, it took us 40 hours to cover the 2850 miles(one way) but if I make the Vegas meet I will def be on an airplane. Then driving to the 2006 national meet and some other trips this year I have just hit 9500 miles on the road for vacations etc this year. So hopefully everything will work out so I can be there next year and I encourage every EOC member to try to make the National Meet, it will surely be something you will remember for the rest of your lives.
spdrcr5 12-23-2006, 07:21 PM We will hopefully have dates and other information in January. Let's get through the holidays then we'll get info onto the site.
Craig! Where ya been?
Junebug 12-27-2006, 05:41 PM We will hopefully have dates and other information in January. Let's get through the holidays then we'll get info onto the site.
But I'm not feeling very patient!! must.have.details.now! aren't the holidays over?? new year's doesn't count! hahaha ... please take my whining as total excitement for this meet! my other half won't be able to make it so i'm trying to figure out who'd be the best second-seater to take along ... did i already say i can't wait?!?! not very patiently anyway. fooey. :)
Rocket Dog 12-27-2006, 06:21 PM No way the Rocket Dog can make a Las Vegas meet BUT........I am SO THERE in Ohio in 2008! :-D
FrEEdom 12-27-2006, 07:11 PM If I do indeed move to colorado (and it doesn't turn into another pipe dream) I may infact make it.... otherwise, take some pictures-- don't let what happens in vegas not be shared with the rest of the crowd.
uukbar 12-28-2006, 06:21 PM hhhhhhmmmmmmm, i want to go to Vegas! could possibly be able to do this, it would be a long drive but doable over a few days. i wonder if i could get a co-pilot
if not i'll be waiting for '08!!
Attila 01-23-2007, 01:27 PM We will hopefully have dates and other information in January. Let's get through the holidays then we'll get info onto the site.
Dates yet? Danke.
Gear Jammer 01-24-2007, 09:03 PM If there is ANY way that you can attend, you should. The Jammeress & I were concerned about a "vacation" in East Liberty, Ohio (if the event wasn't worthwhile). Well stow that. We had a wonderful time. The EOC folks were great (who could ever forget the look on Mrs. Warthog's face when the waitress at Quaker Steak asked for ID?). TMac, JuliE and Larry worked their tails off to assure a great time (thanks again). The Honda factory folks treated us like visiting royalty.
We couldn't make the trip to St. Louis, and might not be able to get to Las Vegas (still trying to schedule the time). If the factory invites us back & we are still sucking air, we WILL attend.
Every best wish,
G.J.
jurneez 01-25-2007, 07:39 PM I'm there, so very there (in Ohio).

Right on ... I'd love to come meet you, but I'm getting anxious about the dates! The timing might be perfectly wrong and conflict with some stuff that will take priority ... so consider me keeping my fingers crossed!!

I went back and edited my post to say Ohio for 2008, not going to make LV.
But we shall meet, believe me, hear my words......we shall meet.
I'd love to meet you to.
Let's hope the dates are conforming to our schedules.....
always,
jurn
Junebug 01-25-2007, 10:46 PM not going to make LV.
Hrmph. Well then. I'd be an unfit misfit anyway, so maybe it's better we meet somewhere other than Las Vegas.
cai88 01-25-2007, 11:09 PM I'm totally in for Ohio in 2008 but Vegas is looking like it's not going to happen this year.
Justinb845 01-26-2007, 03:35 AM I am totally up for Ohio in 08 but man not LV I woudl be too tempted ot just move to AZ.
ramblerdan 01-28-2007, 11:06 PM OK, June 21-24 it is!
Now everybody repeat after me: "I don't need my car to have fun in Vegas."
Junebug 01-28-2007, 11:11 PM OK, June 21-24 it is!
Ooooh, I am SO keeping my fingers crossed that my *one* other obligation doesn't conflict with this weekend!! Hooray! Thanks for announcing!!

ann54 01-29-2007, 05:35 PM I have never been to Vegas. Are there things to do if you don't gamble?
Junebug 01-29-2007, 05:37 PM Yes! I don't gamble either. There will be plenty to do.

Well. If it is, color me boring as well. There's something I want to see on the way to Hoover Dam ... it's a chocolate factory ... seriously.

A chocolate factory-that sounds great! The Hershey factory here in PA is a really big tourist stop. They give out chocolate as part of the tour.
Junebug 01-29-2007, 05:50 PM Last year's event had a handful of activities planned too ... so while I'm sure some people will find their way to the casinos, I'm betting (okay, so I'm a little bit of a gambler haha) there will be lots of other stuff to do or people to hang with.

Cool! I will have to check into things.
ramblerdan 01-29-2007, 06:16 PM Hoover Dam is worth a trip. Vegas has LOTS of stuff to do besides gambling. Much of it is family-friendly, and cost ranges from free to very expensive. On a first visit, you can spend a couple of days just walking around looking at stuff.
Vegas.com is a good starting point.
ADAMLSTL 01-29-2007, 06:21 PM Hmmmmm.........might have to check into going. I would like to see the Hoover Dam. Is that too boring........?:)
