was up in the Eastern Sierra this past weekend doing some relaxing and reflecting and fishing. while backing up to a fishing spot i suddenly dropped off and heard a big bang. what my mirrors failed to show me was this large step that's just too big for our Elements to handle. gotta hand it to Honda's engineers... putting that bar down there to protect the fuel tank SAVED MY BUTT!!!! the car was literally resting on that thing. a dent in the first stage muffler and some scratches were the only visible damage to the car. drove back without issues.
yeah. AWD didn't want to work cus the car was high-centered. not enough weight on the tires to gain traction. so i ended up cranking the wheel hard right, then backed the E off that drop. once cleared of the drop, i backed off some more, re-aligned myself for a plow-through to the left, where some bushes and harder dirt sorta made a way to get out of that mess.
moral of story? get out of your car and check the road before you plan to go "off road." hahahaha
