I got one of those small motorcycle bungee cargo nets on Ebay. They come in black, blue, and red and are about 15" x 15". They have 6 hooks. I only used the 4 corner hooks and hooked to the 2 hidden hooks in the ceiling near the back door and the 2 back interior handles. This made a very strong surface about 6 inches from the ceiling. I can store lightweight things like blankets, foam pads, jackets, etc. and it does not interfere with the view out the back window.

I bought something similar from the 99cent store and they are 20" x 20" but they sure don't seem to stretch that far! I could stretch them maybe about 30" max. The ones that I saw on Ebay says that they could only stretch to 24" x 24" square. It doesn't seem possible to be able to stretch from the inteior handles to the back ceiling hooks. It would be kinda nice if you could do that although it might get in the way of taller people.
