Don't you just love it when someone pulls right out in front of you when you are going 40 MPH! No one was hurt but I would like to of kicked the 18 year old kids ass that caused the accident. Thank God he had insurance. The photos below were taken after the insurance adjuster took apart a few items to assess the damages. Total damages came out to $7281.28.

At 8:15 this morning I was traveling 50 MPH and a lady in a gold SUV talking on a cell phone pulled out of a side road. I STOOD on the brakes and just stopped in time. I was really impressed in the Element's EMERGENCY braking ability.

It started raining here at about 9:30. If the road had been wet, I'd be right where you are.

Glad you were not injured.

Oooowwwww! That's painful to look at. Glad no one was hurt, but I'm sure you would've had plenty of hurt to put on that kid if you had half a chance. Please keep us apprised as to how things turn out after the repairs.

Yea, kids sure do like to do that...I see a lot of fix up cars with rear end all smash in.
I call it the dart and brake.

They speed up too fast throw the car in front of you to squeeze in and then brake super hard to go the same speed as the car in front or do make the turn or what eva reason, all within like a few sec.
By the time you notice and brake, it's too late.

My friend drove like that, kind of a lane weaver.

I feel for you,

Randall Road?

Randall Road?
No, RT.58 Eastbound. Lady pulled out of Shales Parkway making a left turn to Westbound RT.58. Right across my path. It was damn close.

Rt. 58 was guess #2. Don't miss that road at all, now I have to dodge longhorn steers in the road one way and people cutting the switchbacks short the other way.

Sorry about your ride eyemhess. Such a bummer. Next time knock the kid out and deny everything.

thats horrible!! sucks to see an accident regardless of what cars were involved. happy to hear that you walked away from it especially since you were doing 40mph and could stop in time to prevent serious injury to you or your passengers! did the airbags deploy? hope that youdidn't get any severe burns from the airbags blowing up in your face. are you going to fix the element? hope that all goes well for you! you're gonna feel the pain when you wake up in the morning! wish you the best in the repairs and all!

I, too, am very glad noone was hurt. It looks like the E performed just as it's supposed to, absorbing the impact. Yet another reason I love my Opie!

Glad you guys are okay... keep in mind though that "kicking his ass" wouldn't stop anybody from making mistakes on the road- we ALL make them. I'm sure you've accidentally done something stupid on the road too.

Well I'm no longer "Out of my Element". After 8 exhausting weeks and many sleepless nights the day has finally arrived. I picked up my baby today at 5:30. It looks and drives just as good as new. I will do a final inspection in the morning, cause you never know! The company I used was recomended by my Honda dealership. So I got brand new Honda parts with a one year warranty on the parts used. What a great a feeling to have it back.:)
