Hey everybody...

I got really excited last night when I found THIS (http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?cat=Wet-Dry+Vacs&pid=00911571000&vertical=TOOL&subcat=Hand+Held+Vacuums&BV_UseBVCookie=Yes) at Sears online, and immediately drove to the closest one to get it. If you've ever been to Sears to look at power tools (obviously) then it was right where you'd want it to be - on the same rack as all the cordless drills.

It didn't have a battery pack in it, so I had to steal the one from the closest Craftsman drill to test it out. I put it on there and flipped the switch on the vac, and all I got was a little "vroom", and that was it. I figured the battery must have been on it's way out (of course sears never charges their display batteries, we all know that). So I put that first battery pack back and tried another one next to it. It worked on the drill perfectly so I pulled it off the drill and stuck it on the vac/dusbuster and WHOA! It was like "VRRAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM". So needless to say I got it.

Unfortunately when I got home (still excited about my purchase at that point) I figured out that my Non-EX, Non-Die Hard Craftsman 19.2 cordless drill (I think I have the original 19.2v drill) had the ONLY battery pack that doesn't work with the vacuum. The EX and the Die Hard 19.2 volt drills have top mounted terminals, mine has side. DOH!

Anyways, this has been longer than I wanted, I was really looking for some feedback on how dustbusters work to clean the floor in the E. We have a 14volt Black and Decker Dustbuster (a true dustbuster) already and it has the same attachments the Craftsman had, it's just weaker  .

But if you DO have the 19.2v EX or 19.2v DieHard, then you should think about getting that little vac - it seemed pretty sweet!

I'm wondering if a unit that plugs in the power tap might not be also a good choice? Do any exist? Not that I've looked, I've only recently (six weeks) purchased my used elephant.

Make sure you tie down / secure all loose items (coins, papers, etc.)

I know it's soooo "20th Century" and all, but I use a whisk broom and a matching, tiny dustpan. Suddenly, we need powertools to clean up ten square feet of rubber floor!? :-?

Best post I have seen in a while....I used the exact same thing when I realized that the battery in my craftsman dustbuster took a dump.........& realized the exact same thing.....technology does have a way of complicating the simplest of tanks....

shop vac...dirty, hairy, grungy, sticky, just plain wet...gets it all. Also great at unreachable cheerios in a kiddie seat. 8-)

I have to agree, shop vac and a bucket of warm water and a washcloth. Takes care of it. Of course, I'm dealing with Saint Bernards, so there's not any uneaten food in there!

Honestly, a shop vac is hard to beat.

Ryobi tools (Home Depot) has the same thing ... Vac that is .. In fact Ryobi makes them for sears ... I bought a kit a few years ago that has the vac .... Thought it would not be of much help but it does work OK .. Im my case it is a lot easier than dragging out a cord

Ryobi has all kinds of tools that run off that same 18 volt battery ... Little radio , Fan , Hammer drill , oh .... All kinds of stuff... and their not very expensive ... The "add on" tools come without batteries for the people who all ready have the starter kits .... So they are cheaper not having to pay for the batteries again...
In case anyone didn't know Sears doesn't make their own tools .. All of their tools (Power tools ) are made by Ryobi or Black and Decker ....

Sears doesn't make gravity either. But there are days when gravity is all it takes to spiff up my Element. Park on a steep hill and open up both halves of the clamshell rear hatch...
