: Take-Offs....Any Experience?

Just bought my long awaited E (2005 AWD -AT). Got it off eBay and have had it a week. Love it.

I am considering dumping the GY Wranglers and going with a more ride-friendly all-season M+S. While I am at it, I though it may be good time to do a wheel upgrade as well. I don't want to break the bank so I thought a set of take-offs (OEM wheels from something else) may be a good idea...maybe in 17".

So...here are my questions:

Has anyone tried a 17" whell from an Acura, Honda, etc. with any success?
What is the width?
What is the offset?
What size/brand tire are you using?
Do you have any rubbing?
Did it require any modifications?
Most importantly......do you have any pictures?

Much apprecciated for your help.

At least three or four members have swapped out for 17" Acura wheels, though I don't recall what they did for tires, since it wasn't the direction I was leaning. Virtually any Honda or Acura four bolt wheels will fit fine, nevermind offsets. Try searching for "Acura wheels" so see what you get while you're waiting for people who've done it to respond, SticklePink...

Thanks. Glad to be here. Been reading these forums for a long time. The love of the E by all really helped me make my decision to buy one.

I found a bunch of people who had posted feedback on the TL wheels. Thanks for the tip. Good stuff. Only question is now, do I go for the 18" SC wheels or the 17" TL wheels?

Love my car! Bought it on eBay. 15,750 miles, 100% Honda Dealer Serviced, Factory Fogs, Arm Rest, Hitch and Mats as well as Honda Warranty ($0 deductible until 2011 or 75K miles) included....all for $16.4K. :D Sweetheart deal (see enclosed)!

Back to the wheels.....

Love the look of the SC wheels but am afraid to go +2. Am worried about ride comfort and availability of good, inexpensive (<$90), 18" H-Rated M+S tires.

This is possibly the most uninformed post ever! Dont listen to this guy....

To correct him, MOST FIVE lug honda or acura wheels will fit. That is any wheel with 5X114.3.

Also, offset DOES matter because that indicates how far in or out the wheel sits in relation to the wheel hub. To far in, you'll rub. Too far out you'll look like a lowrider wannabe.......
