Ok.. I've seen threads asking for a V6, and others suggesting a Diesel; still others suggest a turbocharger...

For me, all of the above kinda miss the target. I just bought my E, and the one and only thing it won't do that I'd have really liked (which had me considering V6 small-mid size SUVs) is the ability to pull a trailer with some substance. For my particular application a 2000-2500# tow rating is needed to be able to drag my toys.

A version of the E which could pull a small boat, a small tent trailer, or a trailer full of 4-wheelers would be a great extension of it's versatility.

Conventional wisdom (though it may be an oxymoron) dictates that if you can "afford" 2000-2500 lbs of toys to tow around, you must be able to afford that class of vehicle. If it's a Honda, that class means a Ridgeline or a Pilot.

Considering the Element was originally conceived as an "affordable" first car for college students, I suspect Honda never anticipated people with 2000 pounds of toys was gonna be the actual market.

Though your stated desire may have merit, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for anyone to build a car to meet it. That said, many owners routinely use their Elements to tow small boats and pop-up camper trailers. Just not in the 2000 lb range.

The latest Toyota Rav4 is available with an optional v-6 that can tow 3500 pounds. That is a very reasonable payload for a mini SUV and is an option for those who wish to be able to tow more but really like the size/style of the Rav4.

I looked at the ridgeline and the pilot myself but I chose the E for its ease of use and versitility. If the pilot was available with fold up seats and rubber floors maybe it would have been more of a choice. I love the fact that if I get muddy out in the wilderness I don't have to clean up before getting in the car and driving home.

So from my point of view, HONDA, please introduce a more rugged E with composite fenders and a higher towing capacity for those of use who wish to use our SUV's. If you are going to make a "sporty":???: version of the E please make a RUGGED SPORT version.

a diesel could tow that much.
