: Forum groupings
crackerjax 11-28-2006, 09:59 PM Looking around at the different Honda car clubs I came across the Honda Fit site and really like the forum groupings ie. "America East", America Central", and "America West". I know the groupings at HEOC were just recently redone and a lot of thought and questions were involved. But for what it's worth give the Honda Fit site a peek and see what you think. Just a thought.
spdrcr5 12-06-2006, 08:42 AM What Honda Fit site do you want me to look at? Please provide a link as there are quite a few out there.
As for the Regional Forums on the EOC, they were done almost a year ago. I am more than open to suggestions and making changes if they are an improvement over what we currently have.
outpost4 12-06-2006, 08:57 AM Nooooo!!!!! Not again! Nebraska will want its own, separate, private forum. And we don't want to even mention Georgia.

Don't worry, odds of anything changing are pretty slim. Once the site grows to 30-50,000 members is probably the next time we'll address the Regional Forums to be honest. We don't have enough members to truly warrant changes right now.
Cemorzzz 12-10-2006, 11:03 AM How is it that South Carolina came to mixed into a group with Arkansas? -they're not even close to us. To that end, I watch more of what's going on in GA & FL than anywhere else-
I like the idea of setting it up based on the 4 quarters- SE/SW/NW/NE

As for the Regional Forums on the EOC, they were done almost a year ago. I am more than open to suggestions and making changes if they are an improvement over what we currently have. Sorry that I took so long in responding to your question. Try www.fitfreak.com. AND this is not meant to degrade or deminish the work that went into the format as used here. Just mentioned it for what it is worth. Arkansas is a long way from South Carolina and we are more closely linked to the states near us. But, "this ain't a perfect world", yet. :)
spdrcr5 12-10-2006, 06:27 PM I checked FitFreak.net (http://www.fitfreak.net) and honestly don't like what they did. They didn't break their regional forums down by state, they did it by city in many cases; not something that we want to do here. They don't even give places for everyone to post unless you're from those specific locations. For example, they split New England, Upstate NY and NY Community into 3 different forums. What about NJ? The way we split these areas up for example is one giant New England Region. It is the most active group of members who happen to hold 3-4 regional events all throughout the year. In the FitFreak way it would require postings in each of those forums to announce something, not what we're looking to do.
Now, getting back to Arkansas and how I put together the Regional Forums. I remember thinking what should I do with Arkansas. I didn't want to create teeny tiny regions since we're not big enough to support them. If you were to print out a map of the US and group the states how I have them you'll see how I did what I did. Arkansas should probably be part of the Heartland Region and allow KY, TN, NC and SC be the Mid-South Region. This is an easy change and one I wouldn't have a problem making. I don't want to split NC and SC by placing SC into the Southeast Region because it would cause other issues, one of which would be KY and TN being their own Region, which doesn't work right now.
See why this isn't as simple as it first appears?
Cemorzzz 12-11-2006, 08:25 PM Good points Larry, and I appreciate the response. To add, there's probably some states you'd just like to make their own planet!
