Hey gang, just wondering how many members live in the Spokane area.

Anyone interested in a meet and greet? There are tons of Elements out there. Spread the word about our site.

How does the Inland Northwest Element Club sound? Any ideas?

When you see me WAVE!!!! :-P

Hey guys. I have Washington state on my short list of places to retire to. Do you like Spokane?

Hey RD, what are you looking for? Weather, cultural activities, access to ... whatever? If you have a short list of places, I'm guessing you have a list of wants/desires? My perception of pros and cons over there may not apply to you, but I'm willing to throw an opinion out there.

1gr8ryd, I'll wave when I come visit!

I lived in Bremerton for 2 years, but that was way way back in 1990. What I had in mind was central or eastern WA, far enough inland to get away from the semi-permanent overcast/rain (?)

Hey, as long as I'm near a COSTCO....its all going to be ok.

Well then, check out Sequim. It's in what we call the Banana Belt, and they have a Costco (http://www.costco.com/Warehouse/locator.aspx?cm_re=1-_-Top_Right_Nav1-_-Top_locations). My work here is done.

From the Chamber of Commerce site: (http://www.cityofsequim.com/index.html)

Location and Climate
The Sequim-Dungeness Valley area is located on the north coast of the Olympic Peninsula. We are about an hour and a half from the Seattle ferries, and half an hour from the ferry to Victoria, British Columbia. The town of Sequim is about 4 miles from the shore and the famous Dungeness Spit.

Due to a unique location in the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains, the weather in Sequim is noticeably dryer than the rest of the area. The Olympics block the rains that soak the rest of the area. Sequim averages only 16 inches of rain a year. This "rain shadow" and mild temperatures have made Sequim a very popular retirement and recreation area, as well as a pleasant tourist destination.

:D Hey, thanks for the reply. Spokane has a beauty all her own. We have a low cost of living (compared to Seattle), and lots of work. The weather is not that bad either. If you like the outdoors, this is the place for you. We have decent skiing just 40 minutes away. You can bike ride all the way to Idaho on a dedicated paved trail. Hiking and rock climbing? Just check out these pics just 10 minutes from my back door.

As far as retirement....Leavenworth,WA is where I'll eventually hang my hat.

Really you can't go wrong anywhere in the Pacific North West. Oregon, northern Idaho, and Washington are, in my opinion, the most beautiful states in our country.

THIS IS ELEMENT COUNTRY!!!!!

Nice photos I like Washington and Idaho looks like home but with a little warmer weather:cool: A few more miles and your beautiful NW becomes our beautiful SW:lol:

Thanks alot Chris. I haven't made it to Canada yet....so much to do here. But I will make the time to tour your neck of the woods. It's such a beautiful country. Aren't we lucky? Those poor southern folks don't know what their missing.

Cool.....I keep reading about the meet and greets on the Seattle side of the state. Would you be interested in helping to organize a meet here in Spokane?

Do you know anyone else with an E?

Come on over Junebug!! Our city would love to have you and any other SeaTac friends. Actually I do visit Gig Harbor from time to time, so we'll have to meet up next time.

Very nice. I'll post when I'm heading over next time. Was hoping to go in May but it won't work out now.

Last time I was there I tipped a canoe in the Little Spokane. A better memory was "camping out" in my Element in my aunt's driveway. An air mattress, headlamp, and Reflectix panels and I probably had the best bed in the house (in the car)!

Yep, tipping over in a kayak, sleepin in the Element.....

.....been there, done that.

Hell, I road tripped over 3000 miles from Florida to Washington in my Element and believe me, I have some stories. :|

Did you go through South Dakota? Man! Those ubiquitous Wall Drug billboards, which were propped up along I-90 for what seemed to be every other breath I took along that 300 mile stretch or so, almost drove me nuts!

No, I didn't visit SD.....I came up I-25 (New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming) then took a left on I-90 at Buffalo, WY.

I hope to make the next Sturgis event, so I'll look out for those signs (seems like I won't miss em')

You'll miss 'em, alright. Wall Drug is east of Sturgis.
