: Where do you hail from?
isketerol 02-20-2003, 11:11 PM I thought it might be interesting to see where my fellow Canadian "E" owners hail from. If we have enough people in the same area, may a meet would be in order?
I am in central Mississauga in Ontario.
Iskie
I live in Toronto.....the part formerly known as Downsview.
I'm going to the Autoshow today so I'll try to take some pics of these "bad plastic panels". I also look forward to speaking to the salespeople and testing their knowledge.
isketerol 02-21-2003, 03:46 PM Cool. I am going tomorrow. Maybe I will get the boyfriend to take some pictures of me by the autoshow's "E" so I can pretend I have mine.
Iskie
You're going to love the show, only advice is get there early.
They had 3 Elements on display at the show, an Orange, Silver and Green. The Orange was for presentation only, but people were crawling all over the other 2. I was able to snap a few photos, but they may not display well. I see what other people are talking about regarding the plastic, but I hardly feel it's cause for serious concern. The Chey Avalanche does have a more durable plastic and resisted scratching, but the Land Rover Freelander was as easy /if not easier to scratch than the E. I guess you'll have to watch out for all those fingernail plastic scratching thugs you find in the big cities

trackboy1001 02-22-2003, 10:37 AM Hey all..I am from Kitchener, ON...Patiently waiting on my SOP Element which the dealer assures me will arrive in the next three weeks. Has anyone else run into long wait times for their E? And if so, how long?
isketerol 02-22-2003, 06:59 PM As of today, it's been four weeks. I chatted with Honda about this today - I will post their response later.
Iskie
trackboy1001 02-22-2003, 10:49 PM I hope it was a good response. I ordered on the 10th and I have been assured I will be driving my E no later than April.
When I spoke to a salesperson regarding the amount of E's they receive, he told me each dealer will get 4 Elements every shipment. An E on order will be a seperate shipment but may take 4-6 weeks for delivery. This is not uncommon with newly introduced vehicles, I went through the same ordeal when I bought my Xterra in 99'. Your best bet is to ensure you have the vehicle VIN #. You can use this number to track the production date of your vehicle. Give Honda Canada a call if this delay is not properly explained by the dealer.
trackboy1001 02-23-2003, 06:11 PM I got pretty much that explanation from my dealer. The problem he said, is that each shipment of 4 they recieve are of unknown colours. So their shipment coming in two weeks may be of all the wrong colours. I ordered Orange Pearl and if that is not on the truck they need to being the process of trying to trade for an unsold one from another dealer...And judging by the popularity of the orange and the limited numbers produced...It may be a while...
Anonymous 02-23-2003, 07:06 PM Vin # are not assigned til it is manufactured. If you are ordering a Eternal Blue it may be delayed do to production problems with paint.
boneheadz 02-24-2003, 10:55 PM this tread seems to have changed. Anyway, I in Alberta, anyone else out west?

ericb 02-27-2003, 07:52 AM Hi guys,
My name is Eric from Montreal, Quebec, I'm just waiting for my Element with Y package 2WD, 5 speed, sunset orange ! I ordered 2 weeks ago and supose to receive it at beginning of April !
Bye :D
isketerol 02-27-2003, 09:59 AM Welcome/Salut Eric. :D
From what I have been told, four to six weeks is the wait time for us in Canada to get an "E". Just struck me, it would be really interesting to see some pictures of the "E" on the old section of Quebec City..... One of us Canucks has to promise to do that. :D

Anonymous 02-27-2003, 07:05 PM Hi everyone,
My name is John, I live in the north-est of Montreal (a place called L'Assomption, we call it L.A.!) I orderd my Sunset Y 4 AWD 2 weeks ago, my dealer assure me that I will have it between the 11 and 17 of March. I believe him since we play in the same hockey team!

I live in Calgary and just got my Sunset Orange, 5 spd Y Element. Its awesome.
Nathan
isketerol 02-28-2003, 06:38 AM Welcome Nate. If you see another "E" in Calgary, it may well be Boneheadz or his dad. :D
Iskie
Family K9 02-28-2003, 06:44 AM Hey Iskieterol,
I'm in Mtl - I can do the Old Quebec thing, my wife and I get there pretty often... My "E" is primarily for business use (I own and operate a dog training facility) - so my "E" will have my business lettering on it - but it still looks great - and I am enjoying it so far.
:D
isketerol 02-28-2003, 06:48 AM Very cool. I bet your "E' would look quite spiffy in Quebec. Love to see some pics of it.

Anonymous 03-03-2003, 02:11 PM hi there everyone, the name is anthony and i'm from mississauga. I'm very interested in the element and have been on the site reading all i can. My wife and i test drove a green element this weekened. Basically got the msrp price. for the 4wd y package. He said he could do a bit better when we are ready to buy. The site has proven to be wealth of knowledge. I took a few pictures of a green and silver one, but don't know how to post. Any help would be appreciated.
regards
anthony
isketerol 03-03-2003, 03:15 PM Hi Anthony:
Glad to have another Mississausage on board. :P
In a nutshell, to post pictures, you need to put them on a web server and then provide the link to the pictures in your posting. There are some posts on the board about free hosting services. As a Roger's customer, tho, you have your own webspace, follow this link for some help: http://www.rogershelp.com/help/content/how/webspace/
Which dealer did you end up working with?
Iskie
Hi Anthony!
We too are considering the Element but are having a difficult time of locating one for test drives. Which dealership did you visit that had 2 E's on the lot? We were just at Ready Honda in Mississauga and they didn't have any nor did the dealer on Hwy 7.
Also, has anyone seen the Eternal Blue E? That is the color we would purchase (if I can convince the wife) but have yet to seen one in person.
Thanks.
boneheadz 03-03-2003, 06:42 PM I must have missed your first post. Nice to see another Calgarian on the board. I'm in a nighthawk and my dad has a SOP like yours. I have to keep an eye out. so far I have not seen any other element in town.
kurenai69 03-04-2003, 05:40 AM just got a Black 'E' last week with roof rack and step bars and its sweeeeeet!!
Anonymous 03-05-2003, 08:48 AM I test drove the galapagos green at dixie and 401 automall. They also had the silver in the showroom. They said there was a blue one at the back.
Hope that helps. what colour are you thinking of buying?
ERider 03-05-2003, 12:10 PM I bought mine last night. Being an old fart (52) I ordered mine loaded. I JUST missed the Sunset Orange one I wanted by one day. My dealer Halton Honda in Burlinton had one in the showroom. They have green basic one if anyone is interested. I bought mine through Pat Turner. A great sales rep. I bought my DelSol from her years ago.
They tell me that I might get one on about two weeks. I'm planning on driving it to Calgary in June. Can't wait.
boneheadz 03-05-2003, 12:21 PM If you do end up in Calgary in June, email my I'll buy you a beer and we will compare Elements.
Anonymous 03-05-2003, 12:31 PM erider what colour did you end up buying?
ERider 03-05-2003, 02:57 PM I've ordered the Sunset Orange. But I'll settle for silver.
ERider 03-05-2003, 03:02 PM When I bought the DelSol I went for a drive for ten days. Went to the Muskoka's, Ottawa, Quebec City then down the St Laurence to New Brunswick, then to Main, New Hampshire, Mass and New York.
This time I'm going to my daughters graduation in Calgary, romp around the Canadian Rockies, back to Winnipeg and then to Lake Wimmipeg to a friends cottage. From there back through Ontario and home to Hamilton.
If I win the lottery I'll just keep going... 8)
Anonymous 03-05-2003, 04:32 PM i'm planning on getting a sop too. When we all finally get our e's we should all get together, somewhere in the gta. There are going to be a few sop's. That would be an awesome picture. Don't you think?
anthony
We are undecided on the colour, but it's going to be either blue or orange.
Anonymous 03-08-2003, 08:09 PM Hello everyone and fellow Canadians!!
I now live in arizona and just today discovered the existance of the Element.
I believe I do want one but have a major concern.
Since it is only a 4 cylinder engine, could people please reply with info on how powerful it is for them...like on a highway for example.
Does it have enough pep or is it kind of sluggish?
I do appreciate you replying for me.
Take care and thanks!
:)
boneheadz 03-08-2003, 10:05 PM Only done a small highway trip but I was impressed. I was driving a 230 hp dodge. We have a CRV with 147 hp and took through your fine state in 2000. It did great. 130kph on hills. Only trouble on going from Flagstaff to Gallup NM. That was the scariest road I have ever been on. think it is part of route 66. Those semi truck really move.
Elementary 03-10-2003, 12:46 PM We hail from Vagina (local joke -if you are not a native Reginian), I mean Regina land. It appears that we and boneheadz are the only western provincers here. We are Element-less right now but will buy one this summer. As much as we want one today (and even yesterday), we remain curious to see how the 2004 model will differ from the 2003. In the meantime, this forum provides us with a wealth of insider info...
isketerol 03-10-2003, 05:32 PM Welcome to out Western friend. I have seen some other Westerners pop up their heads every so often other than Boneheadz.....
Iskie
ianmcc 03-26-2003, 09:18 PM Winnipeg and mine's BLUE!
boneheadz 03-26-2003, 09:32 PM Welcome Winnipeg, not too many westerns here. Hoping to find enough Element owners in the west to maybe start a club.
Yours is blue, what else about it?
Y or dx
extras
does it have name?
ianmcc 03-26-2003, 09:48 PM The AWD Y and no names yet. #5 or 6 in the province, inthe past week and a half I have had people slam on the brakes, point, smirk with that look, or just freak out. I am used to that cuz I traded in my Xterra for this. That was a new idea when I picked it up 3 years ago. The E rides nicer than the X, just gotta watch the famous Wpg potholes.
I folded up the seats in the back to haul my gear and they haven't been down yet, love all that room! I plug my iPod into the dash and it just CRANKS! SO far I love my element. Can't wait to go camping in it. By thw ay I found a CDN page for that Napier SUV tent, based here in Wpg http://biznet.maximizer.com/bigtint00/itembigtint00!00007.html
Snaps of my E and our dalmation's reaction to all that room can be seen here:
http://homepage.mac.com/ianmcc/PhotoAlbum40.html
Anonymous 03-26-2003, 10:20 PM Wow, I'm very close to either selling or trading in the X on an Element as well. It's true about people pointing and staring at the X. We have modified ours slightly and that seems to get even more stares. If you don't mind ianmcc, what did you get for the X?
Here is ours
http://members.rogers.com/xxxterra1/images/algonquin2002.jpg
Anonymous 03-27-2003, 09:30 PM Slightly?... I hardly regonized it! I keep mine stock but I bought about the same time in it's release as the Element is now. Very novel.
The E is no X, but then again the X is no E, they store about the same in the back, ....

While i was at the car show they explained to me that some jerk had keyed the plastic section at the back of said"E" They accidentally replaced it with the base "E"s plastic. Which is way way way easier to scratch. also note that it may be possible to rub compound into the plastic. You can see the big difference in colour between the gas flap and the quarter panel. the metallic section is harder and somewhat more resiliant
waiting for element 04-13-2003, 01:09 AM Hi ... we're also awaiting our Element (orange). We live about 275 kilometres south of Calgary, Alberta very close to Waterton Lakes National Park. I'm sure we'll be the first to get one in this neck of the woods. May raise some eyebrow with those Ford F-350 truck  dudes.
boneheadz 04-13-2003, 11:51 AM Nice to see another albertan. Thats three in Calgary I know of and one in Fort Mc. Taking my Element to waterton in early may, may see you on the road.
waiting for element 04-15-2003, 12:36 PM Hey - I haven't seen an Element down here at all - it would be nice if the Fort Macleod person could get in touch and we could 'share" info! Are you out there?
I certainly keep my eyes open but no sighting AT ALL yet!

ERider 04-29-2003, 11:37 AM Its been a month since I got my SOPY AWD and I love it. I've managed to put on 3,500KM so far. Everything is working exactly as promised, no squeeks, rattles etc that some of the guys south of the border are having.
I'm planning on driving out to Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise in June and then stopping off at Lake Winnipeg on the way back. Hopefully down to the east coast in September.
This is the perfect rig for this type of travel as far as I'm concerned. I'm also glad that I took the 7 year/160,000 extended warrenty with the road side assistance. By the time I factored in the cost of my CAA at $60.00 a year the savings covered the road side assistance and a good chunk of the extended warrenty. Thanks Honda, no thanks CAA.
I like the idea that I'm not driving a clone. I laugh everyday when I see some guy go by in his Ford, Chevy, Nissan whatever and there are three or four next to him with exactly the same vehicle. Even funnier when you know that they spend a good 5 - 10 grand more.
paperman 05-02-2003, 11:07 PM We have had our E 3 months-we struck it lucky when we got it in Sarnia(On)
We looked into 5 dealers on Sunday-found it in the showroom-called on Monday-dropped off the cash on Tues-drove away on Wed. Now has 28500km

mjohnston39 08-22-2004, 12:23 AM I'm in Vancouver and currently waiting on a GGM 2WD Y package that should be in in the next 2-3 days.
Mike.
In Vancouver, waiting for a fiji blue to come in to view. The blue is tough to find.
Mjohnston there are 3 greens that I know of, although I'm not sure if they are 2wd.
If I dont' like the blue I will get a green.
mjohnston39 08-24-2004, 02:50 AM Thanks DMAN, I wanted the 2WD Y package with the 5speed, colour wasn't important as long as wasn't black. Richmond Honda didn't have any in stock and found me a GGM, so hopefully it will be in either tomorrow or on the 25th.
Mike.
Soon to be an E owner from Silver Star Mountain. I see someone is here from Kamloops. Anybody else from the Okanagan?
elemon 10-09-2004, 10:50 AM Soon to be owner of a 4WD SOP in Ottawa. Can't wait!
gonehiking 10-09-2004, 11:43 AM Hey everyone. I just plunked down my deposit for my blue, Y-package 4WD. It should be ready in a couple of weeks. I hope so, cuz I don't think I can hold my breath much longer than that!
I live in Fort McMurray, sort of. I work here Mon-Thurs then fly to Calgary Fri-Sun. I haven't quite decided where I'll keep the thing just yet.
LEGO MY E 10-09-2004, 01:07 PM Welcome, gonehiking! :)
I have an '04 Fiji 4WD myself ('cept mine is the LX). Cool beans! 8)
We look forward to seeing your future posts, and be sure to send pics of your new "E" once it arrives.
(P.S. I've heard that if you hold your breath too long your face might turn Fiji blue! )

LEGO MY E 10-09-2004, 01:11 PM Actually, upon closer inspection I see there are LOTS of new members in here!
Welcome elemon, PVR and mjohnston39!! ;)
gonehiking 10-10-2004, 03:25 PM Thanks a lot Lego. Yeah, I'm definitely really anxious to jump behind the wheel of my first new car. I'm going to hit my favourite road back home (the Highwood Pass in Kananaskis Country) and enjoy the last of fall in the mountains.
This E is going to be perfect for me. I almost always have two bicycles with me - one road and one mountain. Plus every two years I go to the Yukon for extended vacations of river trips and hiking. You need a lot of space to haul all the gear. The E will be perfect. The mileage is more than I'm used to as well, so that's no problem.
Thanks for the welcome Lego! Like gonehiking I am anxious to get my E. 3 more weeks probably -likely too late for any more kayaking unless the weather cooperates .
There's always winter however. I am looking forward to getting the roof rack and pod on the roof and I'll be pumped to hit the hill :) Do you ski or board? Maybe we'll see you north of the border this winter if you do.
gonehiking 10-25-2004, 09:44 PM PVR - did you ever get your Element? My dealer has had nothing but excuses. Another dealer had done a search, and found two Y-4WDs in BC in blue. I'm finished listening to excuses from my dealer though. If he said it'd be a month I wouldn't care, but for a month it's been, "It'll be here in a day or two..."

Picked it up today!
The dealer really wasn't too bad (after they sold the GGM we were looking at out from underneath us :x )
The SSM they promised us came in when they said it would. They also installed the accessories we ordered (side steps, alarm, arm rest, block heater) this morning under protest - Saturday is a busy day for them. They responded well to some gentle pressure so that we would not be inconvenienced and have to come in during the week. All in all a pretty good experience.
Sounds like you are getting a raw deal. Are you trying to buy in Ft Mac or Calgary? Seems like you should be able to find something in Calgary (or maybe Edmonton?) Harmony Honda in Kelowna has 3 SSM AWDs on the lot right now if you are not too picky about colour!

HCM.Assoc.PJ 01-13-2005, 03:10 AM :-o Hi All
Looks like this page has stalled (must be a Chrysler, actually it would be on fire)lol. Are there any Ontario meets ? Does somesome want to set one up? Anyways I'm Pete. I live 15 mins. outside Barrie Ontario. This weather sucks, can't keep the buggy clean.
trickyvick 01-13-2005, 08:56 AM I live in Middle Tennessee.......45 miles south of Nashville (I work in Nashville). I would love to get together with other element owners for the occasional road trip or trip down to the local starbucks or something......I have been planning to get some photos at the Parthanon sometime soon and they would look even better with a half-dozen or so elements of various flavors and modifications. Just let me know if there are any other Middle TN element owners out there (or southern Ky or northern Al) that would like to get together!

E-Freak 05-09-2005, 10:19 PM I'm from Kamloops and just ordered mine on Saturday. It's being built on May 16th! (I know that's a Monday but at least it won't be a Friday 3pm built one) :| Hope to be driving it late May or early June. I used to love my 2002 Civic but now I can hardly stand driving it anymore. The salesman had me after the test drive. I tried to bargain with him and got about $625 off of the MSRP. Tried one other dealer 3 hours away and it was the same story. Oh well, what's a couple hundred loonies over 5 years
Any other 'loopers out there?
Welcome neighbour!
Which was the other dealer you tried to play yours off against (Sunshine or Harmony by any chance?) When I bought mine, Sunshine didn't have any to deal with!
I'm actually passing through Kamloops tomorrow on my way to Cache Creek so if you see a SSM honk!
E-Freak 05-10-2005, 01:06 AM The other dealer was HondaWay in Abby. My Dad-in-law bought his CRV there and I was hoping to get a better deal. The salesman was great to deal with but he just couldn't do much on the price. Next time I'm trying the email thing. Have fun in Cache Creek... I'll honk if I see you.
Wayout10131 05-10-2005, 10:32 PM Not from loops but my sister is - I'll be there in late July with sailboat in tow.
E-Freak 05-18-2005, 07:55 PM I'll keep an eye out for you, Wayout. I just got back from 2 days in Vancouver and only saw 2 elements the whole time. Then yesterday in Kamloops I saw three in about a 2-hour period!
