[B]Would any of you happened to know the location of VSS wire on the 2007 Element ? I'm trying to hook up my navigation properly with the VSS. :)

for 06 it is a blue/white at the ecm/pcm behind the glovebox pin E26, i would guess 06 isnt far off of 07.

If you are friendly with the Honda mechanics ask them. Do they still use VSS or did they switch to a shaft sensor, like on the Ridgeline. Buy the manual, that will help.

Things have changed for the 2007 model. As the above post said the used the countershaft for a speed reference. The speedometer is controlled by the ECM/PCM.

QUOTE:
Speedometer
The speedometer is controlled by the 5V stabilize
circuit/controller area network controller built-into
the gauge control module. The 5V stabilize
circuit/controller area network controller receives
vehicle speed information from the ECM/PCM
through the fast controller area network transceiver
via the multiplex integrated control system. The
ECM/PCM receives vehicle speed information from
the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor.

It looks like the connector A18 COUNTERSHAFT SPEED SENSOR may serve your purpose. See attachmet.

Which is what they do on the Ridgeline. Connect the wire to one of the ABS speed sensor wires. Kind of a scary thought but, this is how it gets hooked up on th RL.

I went thru the service manual again today and came up empty....i dont have the ETM at work....but it should be in there. So your best best is finding someone with the electrical troubleshooting manual.....

I know why the original post wanted the VSS information but I am suprised at why all the others are interested, same reason? If so Pioneer makes a Add-On Speed Pulse Generator for that unit, part number ND-PG1.

The pin out A18 is for the contershaft speed sensor.....I was digging thru the manual and i am almost possitive you want pinout C19 for the main shaft speed sensor.

The mainshaft is connected to the torque converter. The countershaft is connected to the differential. See page 14-29 in the shop manual.

Here is the information I received from Crutchfield in regards to the installation of my AVIC-D3:

The VSS wire on the 07 Honda Element can be found at the PCM (powertrain control module), which is located behind the glove box. The wire will be found in Pin 18 of a 31 pin gray connector. There will be a few connectors connected to the PCM, this should be the bottom plug that faces the rear of the vehicle.

I have attached a picture that shows the location of the plug. It is labeled as connector A in the picture.

I hope this information helps. If we may be of any further assistance, don't hesitate to ask.

Has anyone been daring enough to try the location in the picture?

I'm getting ready to hookup a AVIC Z2X in a 2008 and it wants this connection also.

Anyone know what color the wire is? I believe its the brown wire but after testing it.. it isnt... but the plug is hard to get to.

Anyone else?
