: Purchased 2003 EX - What should I know?

I purchased a 2003 EX about 2 weeks ago (and love it!). I bought it with a cracked windshield that the dealership is fixing. Just wondering if this will solve the windshield cracking issue or is it a deeper problem.

Also - is there anything else I should be on the lookout for?

Has 58K miles. Purchased for 11K with 185 added on for a new windshield.

Welcome, Train.

Spend some time reading what's already here and you'll learn a lot.

I'm sorry ... maybe I should have been clearer. I have been searching through the site archives for things that may matter to me. I didn't know if recall information was relevant to me since I purchased the car used. I also was looking for info on anything I should be aware of ASAP that may need to get fixed. The previous owner of the car had it REPO'd so I'm not sure if he ever had anything done to it.

My main concern was whether (originally had weather) or not the windshield replacement will fix the cracking problem.

TSB 03-028 (http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=18820&d=1149555925) outlines how to repair the weld seam so the problem doesn't recur. It should apply to the car, not the owner.

Sorry if I was short with you, Train, but you asked about the most-discussed topic in all of Elementdom without indicating you had done any reading on it. Possibly the second-most-discussed topic is seat rock. There's a TSB out on that too (though the official repair doesn't fix the problem permanently).

thanks everyone for your replies... i wasn't mad in my follow-up post and i didn't think you were being short with me. i have been on my share of forums and i know how annoying it is to see n00bs post questions about things that have been answered 1,000 times or more.

i should have been clearer that i had searched (and still searching) - sorry about that.

i just want to make sure when they replace the windshield i know it won't crack again. will windshield replacers be aware of this issue with the element?

As long as the windshield shop has a copy of the TSB, you should be fine.

The only issue I've had with my '03 was a bad rear strut at about 15K miles. Didn't notice any ill effects to ride/driveability. It showed up as a "clunk" when driving over speed bumps. Fixed under warranty.

My 03 has been great. Had the right rear strut fail with a clunk also and the right side door lower catch come loose, easy fix. Honda has repair bushings for the rocking seat and there is threads on here about that. The only other little problem I have is the damn CD player sometimes will not eject the CD.

I got my 2003 EX May 6, 2007 and love it. There was something about a class action lawsuit on windshields that I read yesterday. Look under recalls. Apparently windshield cracking is a problem. Also the fabric on the seats ripping. Could be the dealer may should have replaced your windshield for nothing?
