elemento 02-05-2007, 12:14 AM Hey gang,
I was just talking with Tanega and Sunday might be a better day. I realize that if we have it on a Sunday the next day is a work day and we would prob have to end a bit earlier. If Sunday works for you peeps please reply so that we can start planning the March meet...cool

Also, just an idea for everyone to toss around, but we haven't cruised out to the Westside yet... Maybe meet up at Central Oahu Regional, run up the coast to the end of the road at Yokohama, run back down to Central Oahu Regional for the BBQ/Potluck. Whatcha all think? Again, just an idea"
We can do the usual deal and start meeting around 10am, and wrap up by mid/late afternoon. :D
tanega 02-05-2007, 09:58 PM Sounds good how about everyone else?
elemento 02-05-2007, 11:46 PM Hey K-DOGG,
I was thinking we do the bbq (potluck) at hawaii kai boat ramp and we can figure out the west side later okay...You always got great suggestions K-DOGG..=)
Okay I will wait till maybe thursday before posting for the 11th of March...cool
turboturtle 02-06-2007, 01:05 AM March 11th is cool with me. Also, since this run's menu is dedicated to Tanega, we should definitely go on the date he can make it.

Okay, no prob. :D Just my $0.02, however if planning for a BBQ/potluck, I think we may want to find an area a little more BBQ/potluck "friendly", especially midday.
The boaters might get upset with a bunch of cars in their lot while they're trying to launch, land, and park their trailers. Just a thought...
naluboy 02-06-2007, 02:29 AM I would suggest if having the BBQ @ the H.K. boatramp to do it in the very late afternoon or eary evening. Due to the possible boat ramp traffic.
I would like to say count us in for sure but can't really say since i've been out of work since 1/19 due to more broken bones in my foot so i hope we can make it I really don't want to miss this one.
Oh yeah, Tanega taking suggestions for menu items...

Wow, what happened to cause that?
Sundays at the HK boatramp are really busy. I agree with K-Dogg that we might have to find somewhere else.
K-Dogg 02-07-2007, 02:08 AM If we'll be rolling out to Hawaii Kai, how about a stop at Koko Head District Park, on the residential side of the rifle range? My cycling group will sometimes roll by there for a rest stop and it never seems really busy over there.
There's parking, shade, a restroom; not too bad. Might get a little hot early to mid-afternoon though. Otherwise, there's the old, reliable standby, Sandy Beach
Okay, I've spent another $0.02 so I'm out of change. Whatever's decided, I'm down!
elemento 02-07-2007, 02:14 AM GOOD hindsight K_DOGGER! Yeah I guess that would not be too good...I figured we would start early because most work on monday. Or if anybody doesn't mind staying out late we could do that at the HK boatramp. As far as alternative locations I am open to any suggestions. I know most public parks usually close kind of early. It's gotta be a place where we can watch our E's. Ideal would be like how we had it at the boatramp. Haliewa boat ramp could be another suggestion (the place we ended last meet not sure about hibachi action)
If we can find a good alternative location then we can Hibachi or if not we could just either all potluck or just pick up some Zippacs and hang....What do you peeps think?

Damn, I not going to be able to make this one again.....I'm leaving for a trip to Japan on the 11th for a week~~~~~.
Oh, well...maybe next time.
Hey, Nalu!! Found your rims yet?
hibobg 02-08-2007, 10:56 PM Aloha Everyone,
I might be able to make it. The only thing that might conflict is the Open Air Pistol Sectional match that might happen on that same day. I won't know for sure until this weekend. I'm out of town from the 19th to 26th. I did a couple more new mods and it would be nice to get your opinions.

Nop, still sporting the Foose's. Fittment issues preventing the upgrade... but may just keep these or sell these or sell the 18" stock wheels ???:-?
aching1972 02-12-2007, 12:10 AM I think the 11th is good for us. Nothing on the calender yet. I don't think Haleiwa would be a good choice though. We used to go there all the time until a few years ago. Last time we went, we noticed a lot of homeless people. Also one of our friends bags got stolen. Just not really a good place. If we think of anything we'll let you know.
elemento 02-12-2007, 02:31 AM How does everybody feel about the hawaii Kai boat ramp but it might be a bit late for a Sunday....Hey k-DOGG when is a good time to go to the boatramp??

I was going home from the range on Sunday about noon and it was kinda empty. The side where the canoes are stored was empty.

I dunno... Something about big trucks hauling around boats & trailers makes me a little leery.
I don't think you can really anticipate the amount of activity down there; the guys that go fishing usually launch early and return late, the recreational boaters are coming and going all day long, and that could vary from weekend to weekend. And I've seen the dirt area on the far side near the canoe hale used as "overflow" parking on really busy days.
I've seen the import guys, rodders, and bikers use the boat ramp as an area to regroup on their cruises, but I don't think they're there for more than 15-20minutes. If we're going to hang at the boat ramp, I have a feeling it'll have to be after sundown like last time, just to steer clear of the vehicular traffic. That's just my take on things.
BTW, I have no problem with Fridays or Saturdays, but hanging out late on Sundays is tough for me b/c I'm up at 5-5:30am to get ready for work the next morning. Like I mentioned earlier, I'm down for whatever, though.

I'm down w/ that idea but will have to confirm at a later date if can make it...
elemento 02-13-2007, 07:16 PM hhmmm okay I guess Hawaii Kai boat ramp might be a bit complicated so I was thinking about the small park next to it headed toward the marina shopping center. We may all fit but I am not sure how comfortably. I will do a recon there this weekend and post on Monday for the area and route but, as far as the date that seems to work for most so It will be set for March 11th. cool..

Uh, hate to make things more complicated and to be the spoiler, but that small parking area before the bridge is not a good spot.
That parking is used by the OC-1 and OC-2 paddlers for their races and training runs. They usually paddle from Waimanalo to Hawaii Kai, or from the opposite direction from either Ala Moana Beach Park or Kaimana Beach to Hawaii Kai. They usually park on one end and leave their vehicles, shuttle the crew to the other, and paddle point to point.
Gotta show the 'aloha' to the folks that hoe wa`a. I don't think it'll be a good idea to hog their parking... And besides, that lot is pretty small. Have a look, but I think you might want to reconsider.
