: Tailgating for Rangers Opening Day?
texaselement 02-05-2007, 08:42 PM Anybody here plan on going to the Texas Rangers Opening Day game on April 6th vs. the Boston Red Sox?
I've had the SC for a couple weeks now, and can't wait to get out there tailgating! Since we've always crammed everything into an Eclipse, this year will be much more enjoyable.
Tickets aren't even on sale yet, but there's not much available. I grabbed 20 upper deck seats today from my ticket sales rep through a group package. Other than that, season ticket holders are the only people who can lock up their seats this early. Upper deck was all that was left! Oh well.
If I need to, I can add some more tickets to my group buy, buy I'll need some cash for it. Opening Day is CRAZY! We usually get out there about 9:00 AM, and the parking lots are already packed with people grillin' and partying!
Anybody want to join us?
That does sound pretty cool, but I have a feeling work may preclude that for me :-(
Maybe it would be better to try a Saturday on a weekend after opening day but before it gets too hot. Like maybe May?
The crowds would be less and we could get better seats too. The nice thing about early in the season is the Rangers might even be contending then. August is pretty unkind to the boys.
StumpjumperDave 02-08-2007, 05:42 AM sounds fun, but I'd much rather do one of the Minor League teams.. Either Frisco Roughriders or the Ft Worth Cats... I love going to Roughriders games, its such a nice ballpark, great seats, great ticket prices, and maybe we could get the Honda Dealership across the street in on it ??
FrEEdom 02-08-2007, 05:54 AM That sounds like fun.... Almost makes me wanna go to texas, I've never gone tailgating....
texaselement 02-08-2007, 08:27 AM Yea - the Friday for Opening Day will pose problems for a lot of people.
I'd defintely be interested in doing something on a weekend either at the Rangers or minor league teams. I have a friend that works for the Rangers, so he can give us a break on a group deal. You're right - after Opening Day, we'll get much better seats. I'm down with whatever the majority feels like doing. Let's keep the discussion going, and as the season gets closer, pick a game.
Minor league games are pretty cool too- great idea Stumpjumper! Much closer to the action, less traffic, cheaper tix.
Being a Cowtown boy, I would rather go see the Cats over the drive to Frisco. So maybe the Rangers are the way to start as they are centrally located.
tkobrian 02-09-2007, 04:07 PM Been to a few Round Rock Express games. They really have that place set up well. Fireworks show every Friday at the stretch, and you can even check your kids into this really nice gated play area so you can watch the game in peace. They separate 'em by age & you have matching ID's so you can't trade up. :-o
Roadwarrior 02-15-2007, 09:33 PM The Rangers?Really?parking lot packed?I ve lived in arlington my whole life and never been to an opening game.I think opening day should be reserved for all the people here in Arlington that bought that stadium for them.just me.
StumpjumperDave 02-16-2007, 11:07 AM Dang Roady... have a Fu-Fu shake and calm down.... :-D :-D

Breathe in, then exhale slowly....I hate to bring this up, but what do you think about the Cowboys' new stadium...
Roadwarrior 02-18-2007, 10:47 PM Ya,youreally dont want to hear my thoughts on the cowboys.I cant wait to see the traffic in this city during the games.wow.
texaselement 04-14-2007, 10:37 AM Here's some pics from Opening Day. It was the best home opener yet!
The Element was really great to have out there. It was cold in the morning, so the girls put the seats down and laid inside the E with the tailgate opened up and the heater on for a while. The E proved to be a great tailgating machine! We're tailgating again next weekend for the Sat. Oakland game.
yoda13 04-19-2007, 12:51 AM Looks like a great time!!:D
jesbecause 04-19-2007, 10:17 AM Next time , purchase the tailgate seatback and the table leg kit ! Both which I use , less stuff to haul and the tailgate seatback is so comfy ! Game day seat cushions are also great on the tailgate !

texaselement 05-15-2007, 06:39 PM I have the Target table that fits perfectly in the back. It seems easier to take in/out than the spare tire cover would be (plus cheaper). A guy that walked by asked me if it was the "built-in" table that comes with the Elements, so I had to explain to him what the deal was with the table leg kit.
We really need to pick a weekend game and all get together for an "E" tailgate party and ballgame! The Houston series June 22nd-24th would be a great target!
