I have a Canadian LX 06 version Element (no tweeters installed) and my question is if the tweeters are pre wired so if I decided to install tweeters the wire would be there already. Thanks

I was poking around the service manual at work today and im inclined to say no the wires are not there for the tweeters. One way to check is to pull a door speaker and check to see if the extra wires for the tweeter are coming off the main speaker wires.

I havent seen an LX in a while....did you change the A-pillars or dothey come factory with the tweeter grilles on them now?

I'll confirm what Lizzurd suspects. If the Canadian LX is anything like the USA LX, there are no wires leading to the A-Pillars that would allow you to plug-n-play a set of tweeters.

If you're planning on sticking with the OEM head unit, you may want to consider installing a set of shallow-mount 6.5" coaxials in the door locations instead.

Otherwise, mounting a pair of tweeters in the A-pillar locations is going to be a fairly involved upgrade, for sure. Good luck whatever you decide :D

if your redoing the whole sound system you can just have whoever installs it for you run wires up to the tweets. not sure about the canadian models but in my 07 LX the tweeter grills are there in the A pillar, theres just a empty space behind them instead of a speaker

GuyKeele, I'll save you some time unless of course, you're simply curious, but there are no tweeters in the A-pillars of the LX (you already know that). The molded-in tweeter grilles are there however, there's nothing behind them. No tweeters, no wiring, just a piece of black foam covering the opening.

As tangerine07lx has mentioned, if you're planning on upgrading the entire system, you can have a set of tweets installed, or do it yourself with a bit of effort. Just to give you a preview of what you'll be in for, you'll need to carefully remove both A-pillar covers, remove the passenger side dash panel and a/c duct, remove the driver's side dash panel covering the instrument cluster, etc... well, you get the picture. I was inspired by DaveZ's mod and I've done it. Try doing a search. Good Luck!

Kdogg, it sounds like you made it into a bigger effort than it needed to be. I remember seeing a few threads on this here and that A-pillar cover pops right off. The tweeter gets mounted to it and you run your wires. Why are you taking off your dash?

Guy I have some advice. The A-pillars in the element are not the best places for a tweeter. If you plan on buying component speakers then try mounting the tweeters just above the woofer in the door or just get a high quality coaxial speaker. If you want to raise the soundstage then you can get another set of tweeters and try some different locations on the dash facing the passengers as close to the windshield as possible. JL Audio has a few examples of this on their website. Check out their demo vehicles. www.jlaudio.com

Perhaps, but you should try to finesse that A-pillar cover off. Removing indiscrimately could rip the flanges on the panel clips off, rendering them useless. Also, reinstalling the cover takes a bit of effort and coordination since you have to work the rubber trim back over the edge of the cover while wrangling it back in place.

I suppose you could run the wires using the old coat hanger trick or using fish tape, but I was never a fan of running unsecured wires. Nothing like loose wiring knocking against some plastic and/or metal, creating all kinds of mysterious ticks and clicks to drive you nuts. I removed the dash pieces b/c it allowed me to encase the wiring in a skinny wire loom, and to secure everything to portions of the bulkhead behind the dash panels. That's just how I went about things.

I do agree that for best "imaging" the tweeters should be mounted close to the woofers.
