OK, so yesterday was my birthday. Now, I don't ordinarily like a huge fuss made about it. A good dinner, hanging out with good friends is enough for me. So, the girlfriend says yesterday morning that we're going somewhere and it's a surprise. I'm intrigued and I play along. So, we arrive at the designated secret location and BAM!!! Guess what's waiting for me??

Needless to say I was FLOORED!! I took some pics of it next to the E. I have to say though, with all of the comparisons with the E, I found the interior materials inferior to the E's in a lot of areas, especially for a vehicle costing $65,000. There' so much cheap GM plastic, switches and such. I think the E materials look better and feel better. The windows sound better when they go up. The switch gear has that quality feel. Now, I am not complaining about my present. I love it!! But, I don't think we're getting rid of the beloved H2.5....

Congrats on the Birthday. You've got something better than any car in a woman who treats you like a king. Time to start planning for her birthday :D

OK, so I put gas in the H2. I was at 1/2 a tank, thinking "Damn, getting good gas mileage. 227 miles and only half a tank). WELL!, the thing kept going...going....going....until it clicked off 17.2 gallons!! The beast has a 32 gallon tank!!!

Jeeeezus. That's one incredible birthday present, Xenon. Happy 30s to you!

I have a one-word hint for HER next birthday: Tiffany's.

Question: did she anticipate that you would sell your Element when you got the H2? Is the H2 just for special occasions?

Hummmmmm.....your girlfriend bought you this???

I would think that a nice chunk of ice is in her future??? While I love my ex-boyfriend (now my husband), before we were married the biggest thing I bought him was a video game system! Maybe if I had bought him a H2 I would have gotten the diamond a lot sooner! <evil laugh>

NO, the E is not for sale. I love it too much. If I get rid of anything, it'll be the H2. It's a piece of sh**. front windows make a horrible screeching sound when they go up, the driver's outside mirror wobbles, one of the overhead bins pops open over bumps, one headlight bulb needed replacing; the list goes on. It may be a badass truck and it really does go off-road like you would not believe, but my God is it the worst put together car I have ever driven. My girlfriend is extremely disappointed and has been on the phone with the dealer and GM several times already. PLUS, something is already wrong with the tranny (it's not shifting right) and it has failed to start on the first try 3 times already. She's more pissed than I am and told me that if I want to return it/sell it she'd be fine with it. Otherwise, she says she's gonna drive it off a cliff. She's not happy with having spent that kind of money just to have all these problems. I think the Hummer may be going bye-bye this weekend.

Xenon --

What a bummer that things aren't working out with the H2. Three times it wouldn't start? Transmission problems? That's a hell of a lot of money to be paying for a vehicle that's not 100% perfect.

The important thing is: your girlfriend made a sweet and generous gesture for you for your birthday. Everything else is just details.

That said, I do hope they'll take the car back, hand her a check and it'll all be cool.

Yes, she has a sister, but you DO NOT want to go there, TRUST ME! I love her to death and all, but not all the girl's dogs are barking, you know what I mean?

OH, and Hellcat, no brothers, sorry!

As for the H2, we'll see. We dropped it off today and now they're saying it needs a new tranny!! UM, it has less than 2,500 miles on it!!! I was willing to let it all go if they were going to fix it all or give us a new one, but she's PISSED! Dude, do not mess with a chick who just spent $$$$$$. I'm sending her any time I need someone taken out, know what I'm saying? I'm guessing they probably thought "Oh look, a helpless female looking at cars. We've got a sucker". She may not know anything about cars, but damn if she isn't a professional major league shopper. She is soooooo done with this thing. She's already talking about getting the down payment back and going to buy either an MDX or a new Toureg, either one of which is OK with me.....It's her money, so I'm just along for the ride, but she obviously has good taste. (wait, she's with me, maybe her judgement lapsed for just a second.....)

As for something nice in return, she's getting 2 weeks in Hawaii in January.
I booked us 1st class airfare and a house for the time we're there. I think she's more than worth it!

PS- Let's put things in perspective: H2=$65,000. E=$22,000. H2= 2,500 miles, major headache/piece of crap/isn't running. E=10,000 miles NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!!! let's see, how many E's could I have bought for the price of the Hummer?????
