: keyless again
switters 07-22-2003, 03:06 PM i know this has been said a million times, but for anyone who has not done keyless yet, this is phenomenally easy.
the mounting slot is very easy to find.
the plug for the receiver/controller unit is just as easy.
no battery terminal removal.
my system worked right out of the box.
and btw, handa-accessories is a great place to get e stuff!
marky 07-22-2003, 05:12 PM The only problem I had was trying to reach the hole that the bracket mounts to. When I did find it, I had to start the bolt in blind, as I couldn't fit under the dash. I wish I had put it in at the same time I was swapping the steering wheel out!
One nice thing, I didn't have to program the remotes, they worked right out of the box.
I am waiting for my keyless to come ups...hopefully this week. I have read the instructions for installation online and (as mental as some of us are) I have already removed the fuse panel and found everything that I needed to find to get the system in there.
thanks,
flud
nicolaasdb 08-01-2003, 02:32 PM The system is toooo eays to put in, no more fun and no more struggle.. I just put the remote keyless in yesterday and it works out of the box......I followed the instructions.....it took with reprogramming the radio about 15 minutes.
And now no more struggling in the dark trying to find that lock and then having to open the door to unlock the rest of the doors!! Try doing this in hard rain..
It is worth the 106 dollars.

Does anyone know if I can re-program a spare set of transmitters from another Honda??..and so can you tell me the steps...I installed the keyless entry a while back and can't find the instructions ....
Thanks
85734250983 08-05-2003, 01:45 AM Any help would be appreciated. Although the knobs on the access panel were twisted and releasing, the right side clips would not release. After giving it a good pull, I became concerned that my next effort would break the clips.
Any tips on how to get the right side to release? Just pull hard, or is there a trick?
switters 08-05-2003, 11:32 AM i had the same issue with my access panel when i installed my keyless. i never did get it off. just reached around the bottom of the panel and put the bracket and keyless module in. no big deal at all.

WOW....its been such a long time since I did the install that I can't really help...but I didn't have a problem removing the panel....all I can say is that whoever installed the panel, forced the plate back on.....I would bring it back to the dealer and have them take a look at it....IMO is covered under the warranty providing you didn't do any additonal damage to the panel....
Perhaps you can ask them to show you how to access the back of the dash and act surprised if they mention any discrepancies or abnormalities on the knobs ...just my 2 cents...
Do you have the procedure to set you keyless remote???...I found an extra one while doing some cleaning around my work bench at home and would like to program it so I can have an additional remote....thanks
LLoveCCats 08-25-2003, 06:14 PM I am finding that a installed security/keyless entree system is about $220.
On Handa accessories it is $160 for the system & then $106 for the remotes...and then i still have to put it in myself. any advantages to doing it myself, since it isn't cost? thanks guys!!!

the $106 is for the system with 2 remotes.
orome 03-21-2005, 01:37 PM Aside from the labor savings in DIY with Honda parts, most Element addons like this are plug-and-play for the most part, with jacks waiting for the modules to be added in a matter of minutes. Not so with a third-party system in all likelihood, and there may be warranty issues that are best avoided by sticking with true Honda parts.
orome 03-29-2005, 12:18 PM I installed the Honda-brand keyless entry (bought from H-and-A) yesterday afternoon. It took about 10 minutes from opening the box to having two working and tested remotes.
The driver-side panel came off with the slightest of tugs. I did not disconnect the battery cable, which sped things up dramatically, and the result is a keyless system that's working perfectly.
For those intending to do this, a flashlight will help find the place where the bracket mounts; it's a bit up out of the way to the left, but I suspect not uncomfortable to reach for most. Pretty obvious where it goes, especially with the fine photos offered by previous installers!
gfxguy 03-29-2005, 02:52 PM You know, actually, as the weather warms up I use the keyfob less and less and just use the keys... keyfob and the keys together are just too annoyingly big for a pocket.
Galapagos Turtle 03-29-2005, 05:58 PM Does anyone know if I can re-program a spare set of transmitters from another Honda??..and so can you tell me the steps...I installed the keyless entry a while back and can't find the instructions ....

It's pretty easy:
Step 1: Sit in the car with the all the doors closed.
Step 2: Put the key in the ignition and turn it to the 'On" position. While the key is in this position press one of the buttons on the remote. Turn the key back to the off or I position.
Step 3: Repeat step 2 two more times. After the third time you should hear the locks cycle. Remove the key from the ignition and the locks should work.
Not all remotes will work for all Honda vehicles, but give it a try. I do know that civic remotes will work with Elements.
