OK I know it looks bone stock, still, but look a little closer...
It's a 4WD EX auto in Galaxy Gray, one of the nicest colors Honda has introduced in a while... I just like ther' SC nose a lot better! ...and yes there is a '99 Ody laying around somewhere too... :-)

P.S. I have all the pieces for the 'old nose' if anyone is interested. All are '07 components with 0 miles on the road. I took delivery from the dealer with the nose already fixed, and have all stock components for sale, including the full engine compartment harness as well... I would be happy to mail the lights, grill, and harness, but would prefer not having to ship the bumpers... they are long and wobbly...

That is awsome! Was the SC front end a dealer install? If so what was the price? Also I would sugest some fogs, and maybe a set of SC wheels from handa. Just a thought, although I'm sure you already have some ideas for mods;-)

Man that looks sweet! Are the side marker lights operational? As I know the SC doesn't have those front fenders with the lights.

...fogs yes, they will look nice, but the E SC 18" wheels don't do it for me, I am fine with the stock EX wheel, - for now...

No, not yet, the dealer is rather conservative... and did not want to splice into a factory harness... :-II I will sort this out... I would like to make this an LED combo marker, and flasher, but I want it to be super clean, so it will take a while...

Yeah, if you can give us an idea as to what the dealer charged you for that swap. I have been toying with the idea of doing that recently! Great looking E too. You gotta love that SC front end.

EXwSCNose, looks good! I appreciate the info and I've forwarded it to Penske. I waiting for word. Thanks again! Also that list would be great but I know, you're finally getting to ride in that Element that you bought weeks ago. I was starting to think the first payment might come due prior to you actually taking delivery. :-P

I will shoot an image of the bill and post it... Again this was NOT the most cost effective way of doing this, (I knew this going in...) BUT it is a dealer instal and with that should be more valuable and desireable over time. Total cost was $2,200.-- Not for the faint of heart. Still, I got the car, a tow harness, wheel locks and EX carpet mats, and roll OTD for about $25K, all taxes and fees included. Still not too bad on bottom line... :-I
The feedback I got from the shop was that it was a pain in the @$$ and they will not do any others... :-( ...too bad, it looks so good!

I went in to my local stealership today and asked them about this and they just shrugged their shoulders. They gave me prices on the front bumper assembly and the headlights and it was around $600. They had no clue who could even do this for me other than "just some aftermarket shop". I'm gonna let a couple more people try this mod before I jump into something this big.

I sent my dealership the invoice of parts and labor and they said this was a big help for them and they were sending it over to their body shop to see if they can and will do it and what the time frame would be from start to finish. They seem to be real eager to do it for me. My thing now is getting the money. Looks like I need to start working some project in the construction zones that have come online and maybe a little security as well. Man I hate being away from my family but hey, got to make sacrifices sometimes, I guess.

It was not so much the body shop but the part ordering dept. Everytime they entered a part number to be ordered, the computer system compared it to the VIN, (It is a brand new car 4miles) and forced the 'correct' EX part to be ordered. Then the shop tripped over their feet a bit and didn't get it all painted right. The dealer just isn't used to or set up to do non-standard conversion jobs. This made it a pain in the @$$ for the dealer...

dancetiludrop
03-02-2007, 02:12 AM
So it wasn't the installation but the ordering and paint matching.

If so, that's good to know for some wanting to install the parts themselves. :D

Sure, But be aware of the harness splitting and re-attachment of the correct bulb plugs. Sure it is no big deal if you are set up, - the dealer changed that whole HUGE harness just to get the plugs right... I would go as far as to say that someone with a bit of automotive knack can switch the whole nose including the electrical end in less than 4 hours. All bolts right up and no cutting and fitting is needed. I love the result and I can accept the fact that while it was more expensive than it could have been, the result is very clean and no short cuts anywhere... I feel I got the best of both worlds, - full 4WD competency, the good seats and sun roof AND the good looking nose... :-) Good Luck!!!

Well, I got the money to do it. I'm waiting for the dealership to get with me on my cost to do it. Then I must decide if I really want to do it now. It's different now that I have the cash. I'm thinking about the front power sunroof now, or and HDTV, or all three, or just put the money in the bank and sit on it for a time. Man, I don't know what to do but if Penske comes back talking a honey of a deal, I may have to.

DON'T do the power sunroof in the front. The roof lines have to be designed for runoff of condensation and light leakage. If one is interferring with these design features you are inviting premature rust and other likely leakage into the compartment... I am not even sure if there is enough room for the glass to retreat into the back without interferring with the existing one....

Yes, like these... I must say it does look good, I like the long fold up roof. While they look great now how well will they seal and stay sealed in adverse weather? What is the cost of such an install?

Yea EXwSCnose, me and Dance have done alot of research on the sunroof and have found that Webasto makes a great roof for Elements as I've posted below and the one that Dance posted with the canvas slide is one of theirs as well. They give a warranty of as long as you own the car and can be transferred to a new owner for a fee. They do great work and they have distributors come to their location for training on installs before they are considered for being an authorized dealer/installer. We've found a place here in Indy that does them and they've had no complaints on the two or three Elements that they've done. It's something I'd definately consider though. They make a seal that fits tight into or conforms to the roof channels which if you look at them, aren't that deep or drastic. They have built-in run off water channels, the headliner is used for the slider so its a match and the they slide back into the roof with problems with the existing pop up. They also have a option for auto close if it starts to rain. Its a really nice roof and definately worth looking into. Myself, I'd do one or the other. If I got rid of my current for the SC it would be a no brainer but since I'm talking keeping what I have, I'm trying to rationalize what I really want. Kinda like being a kid in a candy store I guess. I do like the SC nose. I guess it depends what the dealer says and I'm still waiting. I already now the cost on the roof. Like I said, Dance and I were on this last Sept or Oct. We were both salivating at this mod. Also the two pics I've posted don't show the single roof that we would get since we have the existing pop up. I'm not fond of the two sliders. The one we looked into will slide back into the roof, it will pop up to vent and it has three different settings for opening. If I'm not mistaken it also has a memory for each driver to set to your liking but the autoclose is a nice option but again, if I'm in the ride I'm smart enough to close it or drive faster to keep rain from coming inside. I would never leave it totally open while parked unattended.

Yep, it is 4WD, has the sun roof, has 4 FXC seats (SC none), off-road worthy ground clearance and tires (I don't really care for the style of the 18" wheels either), and not that awkward tribal tatoo pattern... The EX with the SC nose combines all desirable traits in one rig... ...AND - - I will keep the rig for 20+ years or 'till the wheels come off, so getting it my way is OK. A set of fancy aftermarket wheels will cost you more than this mod!
(...some kind of center console would be nice, but that isn't too far away...

I think it would be especially clever for EX-only colors, like the TRP, Atomic Blue, or the Tangerine would look really nice. Sorry, the Kiwi is a bit hard on the eyes, but certainly perfectly alright for the right owner... :-)

I can only advise on the regular sunroof from or by Webastos. The standard one for the Element is $1200 here in Indy and that's everything including a remote with it. Like I said, he has two drivers pre-sets, three position opening and closing, tilt feature and its just like a factory roof with the moon option or you can close the cloth cover if you don't want to see out of it. It has a warranty by them for as long as you own the car but can be transferred with a small cost. There is also an auto close option for rain it will close with nothing from you to do it. That was an extra $100 bucks. The two I posted earlier I can't advise the cost on but Webastos is pretty good about giving info out on their product and who in your area can install them.

A Kiwi Met SC colored front end would be nice. Don't go crazy with third party 'rigging' dangling off all corners... It can sometimes cheapen the honest appearance of the E...
I am very happy with the outcome of my nose swap, and all future mods will be rather 'understated'... I kinda like it when a mod does not 'scream' MOD at you...

i have the sunroof in the rear, but am interested in a sunroof for the front. will the long webasto still fit on there?

chozn4service
04-01-2007, 06:51 PM
I don't think the long version of Webasto will work on the EX, or at least that's what they told me on the phone and that was about 3 years ago as I was looking to get one for my '03 Ex. They make that long version for an LX that doesn't have a roof at all and will accomodate that version and then they have what I've posted in the past so you can have a power hole up front. Again, they also make it where you could add two up front but its not my cup of tea. One in the front and the OEM would do me just fine.

dancetiludrop
04-01-2007, 09:36 PM
Yeah as chozn has said you can't get the ragtop or panoramic sunroof on the E if you already have a stock rear sunroof.....i.e. 4WD.

You can get a front moonroof/sunroof or I have also seen a E with two smaller sunroof's in the front.....making a total of 3 sunroofs :D

HockeyGuy21
04-01-2007, 10:28 PM
3? that might be a little overkill haha. i might just go with one up front...
but that makes me wish i didnt have the EX id rather have the panoramic than the sunroof in the rear. melts the ice cream on the way home from the grocery store. :)

dancetiludrop

I personally think the 3 looks cool...

But my ultimate favorite is the ragtop!! :D

HockeyGuy21
04-02-2007, 02:13 PM
threes not bad, i wonder what the install price would be for 2. have to put the buttons close together. i wouldnt mind having three. and i like the rag top too, but id rather have glass

dancetiludrop
04-02-2007, 07:06 PM
I agree hockey, 3 would be fun...There is a panoramic sunroof that is all glass but won't fit on yours since you have 4wd (rear sunroof).

I know chozn4service down in Indy priced a front moonroof and it was around $1100-$1200....and I think it had a very good warranty on it too.

A year ago I went to Fabini's here in town and they said they wouldn't do a sunroof in the E because of the roof's ripples, but now that we know it can be done and webasto makes a kit they may do it....I need to go back there and see...they do very good work.

HockeyGuy21
04-02-2007, 07:48 PM
fabini did my tint and my remote start. they did very well. was that quote for 1 sunroof or 2?

dancetiludrop
04-02-2007, 07:54 PM
That quote was for one power moonroof in the front. I think for a little extra they would even install a "rain sensor" that would auto close if it rained.

I think if you only wanted a manual sunroof you could get one for much less, but most want the power. :D

HockeyGuy21
04-02-2007, 07:56 PM
power is better. haha i wanna get that done some day, time to fill up the piggy bank. i wish they came with a front and rear. except, the rear is nice when you sit back there, but it melts my ice cream

chozn4service
04-02-2007, 07:56 PM

I'm still stock dude. I have the cash to do the sunroof or the SC nose and I'm stuck. I want a better deal on the nose which is what I want most of all, right now. I hate parting with cash! My wife told me to go ahead and get what I want but I know I'll have to hear her mouth on it so I'm trying not to be selfish. I'm now working overtime to put together extra cash as not to take what I have in the bank. I wrote 10 tickets in a four hour block this morning at $150 a pop for $1500. Wish that cash was mine but its not. I figure I should have the cash saved up to do one or the other by July and I want have to hurt my account or my wifes feelings. After all, I have to live with this woman. Dance knows what I mean and how she is. I love the open air up front feeling when on the road and good music playing, sun hitting your face and that air circulating, but I also like the idea of a more contemporary look with that front nose and projector type lights.

The tiny pearl-flakes and the blue pearl-chips really make this a very special and elegant color... The problem with all black colored cars is that one cannot keep them clean looking.
