I roadtriped to Chicago from KC this Memorial day weekend- and Chicago is FULL of Elements! I saw at least 5 a day downtown and out and about. Mine was the only Black one though- I saw lots of green and orange, one blue, one silver, but no other blacks.

It still got the looks driving around town even with all the other Elements cruising about.

On a side note- I threw my old college futon pad in the back- loaded up some pillows, went to Blockbuster and rented some movies for the trip- it was great- it was so roomy in the back even with the suitcases! And the portable DVD pluged into the AUX jack made it like a mini- theater on wheels. The miles flew by and we were in Chicago before we knew it! Awesome roadtrip!

hi :D

Haven't gotten my Element *yet* (still working for the cash), but I'll have it soon. I've decided to choose Orange since it's one of my school's colors (going to college in the fall, hopefully I'm the only one there with an Element heheh). I also chose it since there's no red, my favorite color.

I've been wanting one for months (and months) now.. and have been reading everyone's stories with their E. I'm excited since this'll be my first car. I think I'll name her Eleanor.

Loving it. I will have my first road trip with my Green Element early June to West Coast for two weeks. I think it will be awesome. The only issue I have right now is the bike rack. I want to install a bike rack at the back, not the top nor inside, so I can take it along with me. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

I'm down in the Springfield area, but would consider driving up for a Chicagoland EOC meet. I drove up last week to buy my EXS at Honda Superstore of Joliet (talk to Kim) and spent some time in Joliet before making the fun drive home.

Where do all the Illinois People mount their IPASS. I have mine mounted on the glass where they recommend but it looks stupid. I also don't want it on the dash. Anyone have experience with it sitting out of direct line of sight?

Thanks guys

wmas1960
11-08-2004, 05:06 PM
I don't find it that objectionable. They are common enough these days that it really doesn't look that out of place on the glass. I guess you get used to it when you see so many of them. I do put it up behind the mirror where I don't notice it as much from inside the car. About the width of a hand from the top edge of the windshield and centered on the rear view mirror. Right below or near the bottom of the tinted area at top of the window. I put the hooks together on the unit and pulled the backing off. Placed my thumb along the top edge of the windshield and stuck it right below my hand. It works pretty good there.

http://members.aol.com/wmas1960/WebPosts/ElementLeaves2-640.jpg

I do have a friend who I got one for as a gift. She hasn't mounted hers yet. She just holds it in the window as she goes through the toll booth and hasn't had a problem.

Just had a couple thougths about IPASS. I don't think you can put it out of site because of the way the system works. I seem to recall that it has to be in the window and not interfered with by the mirror or the edges of the glass. Might have to do with being shielded by the metal in the car. Note that when you mail it back or ship one somewhere, I seem to recall that they say to wrap it in foil. Perhaps it has to do with interfering with avionics if sent by air etc.

Second, you might think of Painting the IPASS with black paint if you don't like the obtrusive appearance. Or apply some black plastic electrical tape to the back. Being plastic and not metalic, I would think tape might make it less noticable without interfering with it's opperation. You might just leave the front White since, if hidden behind the mirror you might not even notice it.

valkokir
11-09-2004, 06:51 PM
Cool, Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking tape or some window tint. I don't see it from the inside unless the seat is all the way down and to the rear so I'm not worried about that. I just don't like seeing it from the outside. I'll stop being so picky and find something else to mod.

How about all this snow? I'm from Michigan and only recently moved to the area. I was a bit surprised that there is this much snow on the ground. I have never owned an all wheel drive vehicle before and I must admit I would never buy anything different now. Driving is so much more fun, I guess I grew out of the need to powerslide around turns. The cornfields out here are just tempting me to drive across them since the snow is so flat and untouched. Luckily I'm not dumb enough to think I would make it across one in an E with stock tires. :-D

I live downtown, let me know if anyone organizes a meet.

Booggerg or anyone else looking for a deal on a new element- Check out Honda of Lisle they gave me a great price on a 05NBP, I thought they would have wanted more profit on the new black on black exterior. My salesperson was easy to work with his name is Chris Clayton.

I-Pass works well in the overhead storage compartment. Pop it open and hold the I-Pass against the windshield while going through the tolls. No permanent distractions on your windshield blocking your field of view and you cannot see the ugly thing when its stored in the bin.

wmas1960
04-16-2005, 04:36 AM
To each his own, I do have friends who carry their IPASS and hold it into the window as they go through. If it really bothers you, I guess it works OK for some.

Personally though, I don't see the objection. I have mine attached to the windshield and don't find it a distraction at all. Just make sure you mount it high enough to not be in your view. In time I got used to it. Now, it is no more a distraction than my village sticker, Oil Change Reminder etc. I positioned mine, per the instructions, behind the rear view mirror in the center/top of the windshield. Just make sure you don't put it too close to the top. They say the top edge of many car winshields, (the frame), can interfere with the operation of the iPASS. I put mine on, about the width of my hand, from the top edge and it works fine.

Whatever you do, a word of advice. Watch the lights as you go through. Make sure the blue light blinks for you. If it doesn't, make sure you call the toll way authority to report a, possible, malfunction. Also, make sure your license plate(s) are up to date on your IPASS Account. (if you use the IPASS on multiple cars). If they are not, when they take a picture of your license plate after a malfunction/violation, the computer will send you a ticket for failing to pay toll. If I read the instructions correctly, if your car goes through the toll without activating IPASS, or at too fast a speed etc., a photo will be taken of your license plate as you go through. When they take the photos and insert the license numbers into the computer. If the violation is, simply not paying toll, if the plate comes back to a registered vehicle with a valid and funded IPASS account, they can correct the error right then. Also, if you call them when the light doesn't blink, they can fix it early. However, as is, appearently, often the case, if your plate is not registered to the IPASS, you will receive a ticket and fines in the mail. I saw something on one of the nightly news programs in Chicago, Ch5 I think, where they told of people getting bills from the tollway for thousands of dollars in fines and due tolls. I wonder how many were using their IPASS in an unregistered vehicle.

I recently got my IPASS a few months ago and I found a nifty little IPASS holder at Jewel-Osco for $5. IPASS goes right in the black holder, which is attached to the windshield with a suction cup (no goo-velcro!) so you can take it out if you need it in another car. The holder is black and I have it all the way up behind the rear-view mirror, gets read everytime when I go through... very nice and doesn't get in the way.

$5 bucks - go get it! :)

Thanks for the welcome! Just arrived home from McGrath Honda, and our new GREENE is safely tucked up in the garage. Both wifey and I enjoyed our first drive, and are looking forward to many more.

For now, we just had the plates from our trade-in transferred, so if you see a big green box labeled 241 4119 cruising around Chicagoland - honk and wave!

I agree "Down with Tolls!" a couple of weeks ago I spent $5.40 each way on the ronald reagan toll road from Chicago to the Quad Cities. I dont drive it enough to warrant an ipass- or are you saying i could have just slid past the tolls in the ipass lane???

We do need a Chicagoland meet, I had been too busy to respond to Irv a few weeks ago... Northerly Island/museum campus has beautiful backdrops for an e-meet.

Note that when you are driving on the tollways, as you drive toward a toll plaza from the opposite direction. Those really bright lights??? If you go through the lanes and don't pay your toll, if your plates are recognizable, even in the worse of weather, darkest of night or meanest backlight from the sun,.... your plates WILL be photographed. You will get a friendly letter from the state, in the mail. Plus penalties or fines and past tolls owed. Try to obscure or remove your plates and I wouldn't doubt that you would get pulled over at some point. You take your chances though.

I am not a fan of tolls myself. I don't use the tollway that often but, it is a fact of life here in Illinois. I got an IPASS though. Main reason was that, between going to see friends in Wisconsin or out to the boat in Aurora, I did use the tollway enough that when I would be fumbling for change or have to open the window in the winter, or the rain, it bacame a nuissance.

I got the transponder at Jewel for $50. Just to note, that comes with $40 worth of non-expiring (I think the balance doesn't expire) toll money. The remaining $10 is a refundable deposit when you return your IPASS unit. So, it only costs you $10 in the long run. When you call the number on the IPASS and register and set up your account, give them your credit card number. You don't need to but it does take some worries and hassles out of the situation. With your credit card number on file, they can automatically replenish your account when it gets low. Otherwise, you need to keep an eye on the blue light above the toll gate. It will blink codes or change colors if you are out of money or your account is low. Then, you will need to send in a check etc. to replenish. In my case, I went over a year and recently got my first charge for more toll money. When I ran out, they just charged another $40 bucks. (actualy, I didn't look at the amount they charged but I believe it was $40).

Since getting my IPASS, (change effective January 1, 2005), There has been an additional benefit of having an IPASS. You now pay double the toll if you pay cash. A 50 cent toll will be $1.00 40c would be 80c. Imagine paying $5.40 round trip to the Quads... Going to Aurora, I pay at O'Hare, as I get onto I-88, after Farnsworth, on I-88, when I get back onto I-88 coming home, right before leaving I-88 before getting onto 294 and then at Touhy Av. That is 6 different tolls. I don't recall what they are but I want to say, all totaled, about $3 to Aurora and back. If I didn't have IPASS, that would be about $6.

2 trips like that, more than pays for the deposit on the IPASS unit.

If you, almost never, use the tollway, it may not make a lot of sense, You could pay cash and deal with the double toll fee I suppose. However, if you use the tollway, mildly but regular, or take a few long trips, Ie., Chicago - Quad Cities, each year, it could pay to get the IPASS.

Me, I don't think I use the tollway that much but when I do, they are trips with 4 to 6 tolls on a round trip. Not having to fumble with change 4 to 6 times in an hour or hour and a half is kind of nice. I take about 1 or 2 trips to Aurora a month and maybe 3 trips to Milwaukee or Lake Geneva, a year. Like I said, one load of toll on the IPASS lasted over a year. Not having to fumble for change or pay twice the tolls, keeping the window down and not having to come to a complete stop, Or, now being able to use the express lanes and not having to slow down at all, are well worth it. Get into a couple of rush hours at O'Hare or Touhy and sit in line at a booth, while the IPASS people are going past you in the IPASS Express lanes.

valkokir

I don't like paying tolls and I would prefer the back roads but paying twice as much at every toll plaza is not smart. They double the tolls to reduce congestion at toll plazas. The only excuse not to get an IPASS is that You NEVER use the tolls or can't afford the $50.

I'm from Michigan (Detroit/Lansing) where there are no tolls. I'm sure many of you think tollways are stupid but the quality of the roads is vastly superior to Michigan's. When I visit friends in Michigan I am often reminded why I replaced entire exhaust systems once a year because they get shaken to pieces. Your car just gets beaten to death there. There are very bad spots in Ill. too no doubt, my GF's dad just replaced two wheels on his car because they were destroyed by a pothole, but all in all, road quality is way better because of better upkeep funded by tolls. Just my two cents... I never want to subject another car to Michigan roads, I wanted to cry driving my E over some nasty roads in December

jdiane
06-01-2005, 07:36 PM
I only make a trip to the QC about 3-4 times a year, but still $0.80, $.80, $1.90, and $1.90 each way gets to be quite a hassle (and expensive) so I will definately look into Ipass, especially if it doesnt expire. At both ends of I88, once you see the 'end of tollway' signs, the roads get significantly worse... :0

Phoenixology

Ditto on using backroads - but I can't do that all of time. I live in DeKalb and just started getting my MBA, so I either have to go to Rockford (which is nice because I avoid tolls and the time to get there is about the same) or I have to go to Naperville or Hoffman Estates for classes - which can be pretty expensive (thankfully I got myself an I-Pass before the first of the year...) - so that'll save me some cash in the short run anyway... :P

I spend most of my time in Deerfield. When I want to do something, I go to Aurora.

Some good restaurants in Deerfield but most have been closed. Don't know what is going on. Lost a Macaroni Grill, Chili's, On The Border, Applebees... all in the last couple years. I think there is still Benegan's and a couple other good places along Lake Cook Rd. Also Northbrook Court, right up the street toward 94/41. Always wanted to go to PF Chengs but haven't yet. Movies at Northbrook Court. Can probably see anything there. Then, of course, lots of shopping.

Bowling at Brunswick behind Deerbrook Mall. Other than that, don't really know what there is to do.

You could go up Lake Cook or Dundee Rds., to Milwaukee Av. in Buffalo Grove, Riverwoods, Wheeling, Lincolnshire. Some places of specific interest, Hackneys. Bob Chins if you like seafood. Weber Grill, Big Bowl or Wildfire. Mini-Golf at Par King. Also in the mall at Aptikisic there is an indoor mini golf under blacklight. Did that with some friends once and was kind of fun. Regal Cinemas with an IMAX screen. Another place to see almost any movie currently showing. Lots of theaters. Was there a week ago. Star Wars on several screens. Don't know what is showing on the IMAX right now. Saw the last Harry Potter there. Was really cool. Mariotts Lincolnshire Resort. I think they have a golf course and you can catch some stage productions there. Lots of bars like Cubby Bear and such along Milwaukee Av. Cubby Bear has live entertainment some times and, of course, shows all the Cubs and Sox games. Watch out for cops though. Riverwoods, Lake County and Lincolnshire pull people over with a vengance.

Also, sorry if this reply is too late.

It is hard to know what to recommend without knowing what kinds of things interest someone. There are lots of golf courses near by, open to the public. Out toward Willow Rd. on Waukegan, or up to Milwaukee Av. on Lake Cook. Good Forest Preserves around if you like to hike some. Lots of parks and play fields and so on. Not far from Lake Michigan and beaches in Highland Park, Glencoe etc. This time of year, parking might be an issue as you often need a residents sticker or have to pay a huge premium for a NON-Resident pass. Don't know if it has started yet but Ravinia Park isn't far. Grab some picnic food and go catch a concert. Park in a remote lot though and take a shuttle. There is also Botanic Gardans in Glencoe, up Lake Cook Rd., if you want to talk a walk during regular day hours. A couple restaurants there too.

You mention one good thing about the area. If you want to go to Milwaukee or down to the city, you are right between 94/41 (Edens) and the 294 tollway. If traffic is bad, hop a train at Lake Cook or Deerfield stations. Lake Cook is right behind Home Depot. That will take you to Union Station down town.

Point is, you can get almost anywhere you want, fairly easilly but I don't know of much exciting going on in town itself. Like I said, in my other post, unless you like shopping, walking, bowling or going to movies.

Thanks for all the input. I'm staying on Lake Cook , about 3-5 minutes west of the Northfield/Northbrook? Court mall. I ended up there last night when I past my hotel. Last night I stopped in Joliet for a burger on my way up but tonight I may look for something a bit better. There appears to be quite a bit right here in the area.

wmas1960

Like they say, when you live in an area, you often take for granted what is there. Innitially, as I said in the other posts, it seems that all you can do in Deerfield, or the immediate area, is eat, walk, shop see a movie or play a round of golf or bowl. There are several decent or excellent restaurants there or in about 10 min drive to Milwaukee Av., Northbrook Court etc. Then, as I thought about it, I posted in my second post, Botanic Gardens and Ravinia.... or a train ride into the city. As I thought a little, over night, Six Flags great America and Gurnee Mills came to mind. With Gurnee Mills, it is more shopping but the place is HUGE. Never been there myself but there are several places that have caught my attention. Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World is one. The two locations are about 15 or 20 minutes north on 294, if traffic isn't that bad.

For me, tonight, I am probably going to Hammond IN. :D

Ok driving home tonight was a sign from the Honda gods. I saw a total of 10 Elements in just 8 miles, including 3 different SOP's within 4 blocks of each other! And that doesnt include seeing some of the usual E's in my neighborhood... With all those E's per square mile, we have to meet up! I will help organize if anyone has good ideas about date/time/location...

Date: There are 12 weekends between Halloween and now. Unless we meet in an indoor parking garage, desions need to be made.
Location: I'll drive up to 120 miles (It's a car club,no?). Lincoln Park? Starved Rock? Illinois Beach State Park? The enthusiasm from our area for a meet seems very limited, but let's keep trying! :)

Other Locations: Dupage, Cook McHenry, and Kane counties all have great parks. Also, every town around the area has pretty good parks. Woodfield mall has a big parking lot. From the response so far, we could meet in a 7-11 parking lot. Or my driveway.

Yeah, Woodfield Mall is a good idea IRV. There are plenty of parking lots and good restaurants around there. I wouldn't mind driving all the way out there from the city to meet everybody and check out everybodys' E's. I think Ram is a good place to get some lunch and we can all meet up at the empty part of the Ikea parking lot?! I also know that the Car Boutique at Golf Road and Roselle have cruise nites every month or so plus they have a pretty big parking lot in the back of the store. They have a lot of cool accessories for cars and trucks there for us to oogle over too. Just don't buy anything there cause they are kind of a ripoff IMHO, ha ha.

they put a parking lot underneath the park, they did the same thing at Soldier field (I am watching the Bears game as I type...). Its a nice place to park, but kind of expensive for workday parking (I work just down Michigan ave from there), but its a good central location...

I only really watch the Bears when they are on defense-- of course I should have taken up the office poll as to what bone Grossman would break this year!
Here are two possiblities for Chicago meets: Skoke/North Channel sculpture park - lots of free parking, bike/walk/jog trail/stinky water/funky art sculpture/ near Edens/ shopping and restaurants nearby; or the lake at Wilson/Lawrence- not as crowded as downtown, still has stinky water access, bike/jog/walk trail, usual park amenities (sp?), close to downtown... just a couple of suggestions. :)

We just started one here in Minooka, but now with fall in the horizon, they had their last one like last Wednesday. It is a good idea though, wonder if Honda would sponsor something like that?. There could also be some sort of trophy awarded to the best looing E, which people could vote on. I'm familar with the Midway area, right off of Cicero Ave. amd I-55. Okay kids, I went out to Woodsfield Saturday afternoon. Do you realize what a barren wasteland a mall parking lot is? Sure, there’s room and it's easy to get to, but come on...A giant gray expanse of black top surrounded by major highways, low flying airplane...It didn't help that it was 95 degrees and an ugly gray haze. I just think SOMEWHERE in Chicagoland has to be better.
A side note: It was lunchtime and I figured I'd go in and get something to eat. So I walked by an A&W Root Beer place. On the paper placemat they are celebrating their heritage as a drive-in and the magic of "cruise nights". YIKES! I'm in the middle of a Mega Mall! What a sham. LEGO had a poll on shops at Walmart.

1. Its very big
2. where the he[[ is Ikea?
3. whose bright idea was it to put a friggin traffic circle in the middle of golf road?

So I would suggest that our meet out at Woodfield be in a readily identifiable spot (I saw a few E's out there- misunderstandings, or new members, couuld occur easily) like near the Sears auto center or firestone. And both of these places were empty of other cars... :) just a few thoughts...

Ikea is north of Golf rd.You use Roosevelt Drive, go past the new Roosevelt University Shaumburg campus, you'll see the giant blue box Ikea. It's sorta behind the Hyatt on Golf rd. Woodfield is south of Golf rd.

Ram Brewery is in the northeast section of the Woodfield complex, on the premitter (spl) road, right near DSW Shoe outlet, just east of the Sears Auto Care lot.

I haven't done Prairie Rock, I am good with either, but I am always down for something new.

I am cool with whatever the general consensus is. The date and time work for me too.

If people live further out of the city and want decent scenery...I know of a place called Emmitts in West Dundee that has great beer (their own) and food...place has been around since the 1800s and is right next to the river.

Or we all could drive to Prescott AZ and hit the brewery in the square.

Did I mention brewery?

Oh yeah..I guess it wasn't clear in my post..I didn't mean to say that Emitts had been there that long..just that the building, which was probably a general store, had been there forver.

Also, will the attendence change if we do this in November so that TMac and Julie can join us?

It took me maybe 30 minutes to get from the car wash in Evanston out to Woodfield, but there was some sort of family walk event in one of the burbs which stopped traffic for a while. It was not that long to get back... I took Golf Road straight out, but you can take the 290 right up there (but for me the main thing is going straight west). If you are on Argyle, maybe Foster out to 290, then north to Woodfield? my big map is in the E...???

Some further reflections on the Chicagoland meet last Sunday.
First, Hurray! Something happened.
Second, I wanted to thank John AKA aaydemi and Kirk AKA valkokir for making the trip. One came in from De Kalb, the other from Waukegan. Neither trip is all that quick or easy.
Third, a comment about these two outstanding young men. I won’t embarrass them by describing what they do in real life, but you only have to read here on these boards aaydemi’s HID headlight mod on the DYI forum or valkokir’s steering wheel radio control mod on the DYI forum to get an idea of their abilities. To their credit, they admired my amber reflector fake fog lights.:)
Finally, I look forward to a Spring meet. If these dudes are any indication of the quality of people who are members of the EOC, it’ll be all good. :)

Could be wrong as I haven't seen any updates since yesterday. Last I had heard though, there were, thankfully, no fatalities. I do recall that there were 3 or 4 criticals. I don't know how those have turned out. Will be real interesting to hear what happened. Latest was that the signals were working correctly but I still wonder how 1 train can hit 5 cars at a grade crossing with operating gates. Totally, one report that I saw said that 15 cars were involved. Seems some were spun or thrown into others.

IRV
11-25-2005, 08:05 PM
Do you remember the school bus geting hit by a train in Fox River Grove about 10 years ago? I knew that intersection, and it was scary. After that they fixed the crossings here in Elgin so that the traffic lights give LOTS of time for cars to get across an intersection before the the train gets there. The Kimball Street Bridge was always a big concern out here. Anyway, it sounds like there was gridlock at the traffic signals, cars were trapped, and there you go, cars on the tracks. Last I heard, only one person was still in critacal condition. Mrs. IRV is a nurse at Loyola on the burn unit, but she won't and can't (patient privacy) give me an update. and that patient is not on the burn unit.
Seeing those pics, the injury toll is amazingly low.

wmas1960
11-26-2005, 07:05 PM
I think you may have a point on the issue of the way the crossing is configured. Or, at least, the way the signals are set up. While they say they were operating properly, there might be a disconnect in the design between traffic signals and the RR signals in the area. I did see, in the Sun Times, I think it was, today that the signals at the traffic intersection were not synchronized with the RR crossing signals. I didn't get a chance to read the article but that is what the headline seems to indicate. Assuming that it is accurate, it could be an explaination. Someone got stuck at the traffic light etc., and cars, as you mentioned, behind were trapped on the tracks. I do recall one witness/victim say that the gates came down on some cars, trapping them on the tracks.

Here, where I live, the UP (former CNW North Line) crossings are sync'ed with the railroad gates. As a train approaches, the lights on Green Bay Rd., parallel to the tracks, go through a cycle to red, making no Turns at the RR crossings. Traffic on the crossings gets a green to clear or "Dump" the tracks. After a period of time, the gates start down and the lights switch again to Red on the crossing and Green on Green Bay Rd. With short ramps, between the tracks and intersections that is the only way to keep similar situations from happening. Asside from very costly tunneling and building of overpasses.

IRV
11-26-2005, 07:37 PM
The other factor in this situation is the oblique nature of this crossing. If the street and crossing are at a 90 degree angle, the distance is, what, 70 or 80 feet? When you have the convergence that is at the angle shown in the Sun Times, it could easily be 3 or 4 times that far. So cars in rush hour get stuck in "no man's land". The NTSB aspokesman says "Build a bridge or tunnel". There's a soultion. That area is so dang flat, it's an engineering nightmare. Almost sounds like a "Mike Brown" soultion.
It sounds like your crossings now work like the ones here in Elgin and I know they fixed the one in Fox River Grove to work that way.

So I went out today with the wife to the Goodman theater to see "A Christmas Carol" (Saw about 4 E's in the parking garage, anyone from here?) when both our phones ring of the hook (on silent mode of course). Wait until intermission and call people back and come to find out a plane has crashed about a few hundred yards from my house. Pretty scary. Anyways, are 2 pics, one from my yard (pretty blurry, sorry) and another from across the alley in front of my neighbors house.

Edit: A couple more pics from this morning.

Wow!, nice pictures considering the view, that's awful close for comfort.

As it turns out a kid was killed (in one of the cars struck by the plane) which is horrible. What a freak accident.

Hope you were able to get out this morning since the news said the plane would stay there until the NTSB arrived this morning to investigate.

Out here in Elgin they have put up a five story parking garage next to the Prairie Rock Brewery and one block from the Grand Victoria Casino. They are still building the town houses that this parking garage is going to serve so it’s vacant. The second week in January is historically the coldest time of year here, so it's going to get better.:) Anyone interested in a meet?

(I don't usually meet people over the internet, case you're wondering.):) :)

Anyway, I will plan a golf outing in mid or late April at our local 9 hole course here in Elgin. Perfect for any level of golfer. Hope to hear from you all.

Ernie Banks turned 75 years old today. "Mr. Cub" was one of the best players of his era, and one of the best gentleman you could ever meet. Twiiting his fingers on the bat, moving with a glide at either first or shortstop, Erine was one of the best. Hall of Famer, hero for a lot of young guys. "LETS PLAY TWO". Only bigger hero for me is Ron Santo, and Ron not being in the Hall is a criime.
Happy Birthday, Erine!

If the Chicago Bearssss played against a Honda Element, who would win? Da Bearsss? But wait: What if that Element was named Dikka?

Sorry, Texas stole me away. But speaking of baseball, how about those White Sox, woo hoo!

Went to the REI on Butterfield Road yesterday, and saw two other E's in the parking lot. Either of those belong to someone here?

Northern Suburbs Here! There are a ton of Es in this area!

My E is undergoing some unusual Mods as it is primarily a working vehicle. Started with towing stuff and we are now fabricating some heavy duty roof racks for it. I will likely build a T bar for the reciever that will match the hight of the racks when I am done allowing me to put masts on top. I would like to build a brush bar for the front. Any idea what they can be bolted to?

The Prairie Rock is great...I'd be up for an E meet there...good kettle brewed rootbeer too, in case you don't want to crash your "E" after too many lagers!
