Now that the weather has gotten warmer, we've decided to go camping someplace in Hampton Roads the weekend of March 30th, '07. If you'd like to join us, please do!!!

Deborah has a long weekend so we plan to stay through Monday. My first thought is First Landing State Park (http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/fir.shtml) right on the Chesapeake Bay where we've camped twice before, but suggestions are always welcome.

:D Hey, I'm always ready, just graduating one of my classes tomorrow, have a few weeks off. Will check with the boss (MaryBeth), let you know asap. Anywhere local is good for me too.

Very good, actually! We won't be far from civilization.

I don't really make "plans" when camping, but if I did then I'm afraid Busch Gardens wouldn't be in them... at least not while camping locally. Since it's close by, Busch Gardens is an all day affair for us... drive up early, come home late and zonk out.

I foresee walking on the trails and the beach, playing cards and games, cooking our food outdoors, conversing and drinking beverages in concealed containers.

First Landing State Park (http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_parks/fir.shtml) is beautiful! To quote from their website:

"GENERAL INFO: Originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, First Landing State Park is located on the Chesapeake Bay. The park is Virginia’s most visited. First Landing offers boating, swimming, Nature and History Programs, hiking, biking, picnicking, a boat launch, cabins and 19 miles of trails on 2,888 acres. It also has campsites, some with bay access, that have water and electric hook-ups, and nearby access to restrooms and showers."

Please feel free to join us if you can. Any and all are welcome, and it'd be great to see you again. :D

Bob has taken care of reserving a site for him and one for me. Thanks, Bob!

If anyone would like to stop by, our reservations are for Friday and Saturday nights at First Landing State Park. Deborah and I may or may not stay Monday night... we'll see when the time comes.

Feel free to PM or e-mail me for a phone number trade if you'd like to track us down. :D

What an awesome weekend!

The weather was beautiful during the day and chilly at night, which is my preference for sleeping.

The campers were, MaryBeth, Bob (Spotman), Deborah (pic taken after a shot of Apple Pucker), myself and Mona who shoots on the pool team with Deborah and me.

Guests included a fox (no pic) who came into the campsite the first night as we sat by the fire and some racoons (we assume) who raided our cooler Sat. night. :-P

Is that a steak on the grill? You didn't say anything about having steaks...

Looks like a good time. Don't you just love spring time? :)

The beach was beautiful on Saturday where we came across a strange monument made entirely of trash.

The campsites were huge... there was plenty of room to play Bolo which we did all afternoon. The trees got in the way more than once. :-P

The campfires were wonderfully warming and enlightening, as was the conversation. Bob even taught us how to melt bottles to make ashtrays! :D

Thank you MaryBeth and Bob for a fantastic weekend!

By the way, Bob is the Bolo Champion for the weekend!

It was a great time for all, never laughed so much playing "Bolo" all day for two days... did I mention that I am undefeated at that game? I guess no one else would mention that!:D

Those were not steaks, they were the biggest, juiciest and most delicious Ribs that I soaked for two days:evil: There was plenty for everybody just in case others showed up.

Can't wait for the "SpringFling".
