: Goodyear Eagle LS stock tires
bobmak57 03-19-2007, 10:43 PM I had a chance to try out the SC in the snow this past weekend. The Goodyear Eagle LS tires that are stock on the car had some traction issues in the app. 1" snow I drove them in, more so than I expected. I had some trouble making it up a very small incline after stopping at a light, also spinning on the flats after a slow start. I have been driving in New England for over 30 years so I am pretty used to this weather. I noticed previously in the rain that they seemed to have traction issues as well on wet roads. Just one mans opinion.... At this point I am not sure if I'll keep these tires for life or replace them this summer, but I do know I am getting 4 snows before next October.
Ink Slinger 03-20-2007, 07:56 PM Bob, I don't care for them much either. I ended up trading in the goodyears from my '04 for a better quality goodyear (unidirectional tread). Made all the difference in the world. Someone has had good things to say about the Yokahamas he put on his SC in another thread.
electrical element 03-20-2007, 08:48 PM Go to tirerack.com for info on tires and what others have installed on there e's. This is my first "all wheel drive" experience and its great in spite of the extra gas it uses. Also try a "search" before you post a new thread. You may find what you are looking for and more. This is what others have recommended that are involved in keeping the site clean. good luck :)
box-E 03-20-2007, 09:23 PM I put Yokohama YK 520s in the factory size on my E right after Christmas and have put about 7k on them since then in snow, sleet, rain, and dry weather and have been very happy with them in all conditions and they are much quieter than the original tires I had. Got them from Tire Direct, free shipping and great service. Drew:)

I try to search before I post. My intent was to give a review for someone that is purchasing a new SC... the rest of us already have opinions on these tires I think :) Being a new member I promise to do my part in keeping the house neat and tidy. I actually have not had the chance to try these tires in a major down pour yet... but I know I don't feel comfy on driving on them in the middle of a New England winter. The car itself, on the other hand, handles very nicely and I am confident with a set of spanky new Blizzaks on it next winter I'll be able to get first tracks at all the ski areas now problem :D
Wardster 03-21-2007, 06:48 AM I agree with you about the stock Goodyears on our SC. Althopugh I have not driven it in snow yet, I did noice some problems with them in the rain. I did not feel like they stayed on the road well enough, but it could have been me.

mkaresh 03-21-2007, 01:48 PM I never realized how bad any all-season is until I bought my first snows a couple years ago. Now the biggest problem I have with snow, in a Mazda Protege5, is the fact that few other people have snow tires. This even though I live near Detroit. So traffic still moves slowly in the snow, and I'm always wondering when someone's going to rear-end me. (Just once this year, no damage.)
joser 03-21-2007, 02:54 PM The stock Goodyears seem just fine in my winter driving :D
Honestly, I've had no issues with them in the rain either.

admctm 03-21-2007, 03:25 PM I havent had any problems with the tires, I'm happy with them. I didnt have
any trouble with snow, but I have a manual and I have always had a better
luck getting through the snow than with a auto.
bobmak57 04-12-2007, 09:19 PM Just wanted to update my post. I had a chance to drive for about 90 minutes today in some pretty heavy rain, heavy enough to cause some minor flooding on parts of the highway. The tires did just fine. I think they'll do great for 3 seasons. For winter I still plan on snows, but that is a matter of personal preference.

Tampa...winter...that's funny. It rarely snows here, either, and these tires are just fine.
My "other" car can barely be driven in the rain, and I'd hate to even try in snow. I just ordered (at 17,000 miles) new rear tires at the bargain price of only $504 each. :-( (Goodyear Supercar F1 285/35ZR-19 RunFlats.)
SilverSC 04-13-2007, 10:08 PM Bob,
I also had very bad experience with the stock Goodyear tires. Here in North Dakota you have to be prepared for the snow and ice. The very first snow here which was about 1/2" I could see traction issues. Spinning on flat surfaces, impossible traction on inclines, and if you let it sit outside and the cold gets to the tires they are rock hard and are about like riding on bald tires.
So, I went with Michelin Artic Ice in a 235/50/18 on the factory wheels and have been very happy. Cut thru 4-6" of snow with no issues at all. Stopping on ice is extraordinary with these tires. Highly recommend.
